Outside of London, you all dress like peasants

Meggles76 · 16/05/2011 18:58

Moosemama - I like linen trousers provided they are not cropped or ill fitting... these could work for you?! if you are not to be persuaded, what about wide leg cotton trousers - GAP usually has the sort of thing I mean. If you are feeling bigger than you would like at the moment, I would avoid cargo type trousers with thigh pockets as these just accentuate the problem area.

Mumelie · 16/05/2011 19:26

I have chucked all mine, they are hideous and unflattering.

Moose - I'd be tempted to go for dresses if I were you - do they suit you better than trousers/jeans generally?

TrillianAstra · 16/05/2011 19:52

Fitflops "fugliest shoe ever" - have you forgotten about crocs?! Shock

cyb · 16/05/2011 19:54

crocs are for gardening purposes only. I do not inflict my crocs on a God fearing public

TrillianAstra · 16/05/2011 20:04

The question was: are Crocs not far uglier than Fitflops?

Of course I wouldn't expect you to wear either where they might be seen by unprepared eyes.

But which is uglier? Do you Really really think Fitflops are the ugliest?

cyb · 16/05/2011 20:04

Yes, I do

I LOATHE THEM

lucyspangle · 16/05/2011 20:05

Linen trousers look a darn sight better on most figures than leggings and skinny jeans.

TrillianAstra · 16/05/2011 20:06

OK, you are entitled to your wrong opinion

TheOriginalNutcracker · 16/05/2011 20:10

I like linen trousers though. They are comfy, and tbf I don't have much of an arse. Mind you having said that, I haven't inspected my arse that closely since I put on nearly 2 stone.

I hate capri thingies, so what else is there ?

BelovedCunt · 16/05/2011 20:11

i love that mums on holiday thread. mum boots are despair made manifest

cyb · 16/05/2011 20:13

Nutcracker, a tapered trew, rolled up a bit with a high sandal and a loose top

I like this look

Meggles76 · 16/05/2011 20:14

Well said Lucyspangle

hate hate hate crocs

schroeder · 16/05/2011 20:16

'go and change your cushion covers for summer ones and leave us linen trouser people alone' hooray for that Grin

'refugee from the Cotton Traders catalogue.' Tee Hee

sahm3 · 16/05/2011 20:19

I have linen trousers too, navy and a White pair, but they cost be a bomb, are tailored and I only wear them out with wedges if I know I won't be sitting down. My biggest argh is 3/4 trousers with high heels ... Yuk!!

BelovedCunt · 16/05/2011 20:21

i am amazed that a poster called sahm3 has linen trews

FoundWanting · 16/05/2011 20:22

7/8

Stop making me repeat myself. Grin

Lisatheonewhoeatsdrytoast · 16/05/2011 20:28

I love my linen trousers! I have two full length pairs, navy and white :(

I however do NOT have a huge arse Grin and have them in a size 10 which i feel proves this Grin

SomebodyNew · 16/05/2011 20:39

BelovedCunt. It does seem that people here live up to their names, or at least part of them as I'm sure stay at Sahm3 is a SAHM and you're of course, beloved.

BelovedCunt · 16/05/2011 21:01

hahaha so true

TrillianAstra · 16/05/2011 21:04

Ugh, trousers that end on the calf are my enemy.

moosemama · 16/05/2011 21:33

Thank you Dogsby, you are very kind, but I just know one of you would spy me from a distance and judge my wobbly arse harshly, as sadly the ankle is no longer an obvious excuse without my mahoosive leg cast to announce it.

Meggles, I probably didn't describe my trousers very well. They don't have thigh pockets, so probably cargo was the wrong description. They're just wide legs with reasonably sized rear pockets (to detract from the size of my derriere) and rivet-type buttons to turn them up (which I never do unless I'm paddling on the beach with the dcs). Are the gap trousers fitted properly at the top and then a loose leg? I had a quick look at the wide legs on their website, but I don't think the modal ones would really be any better in terms of improving the appearance my backside and the others all look too formal.

MrsCampbellBlack, I feel daft in dresses to be honest. I occasionally buy them thinking I will wear them, but never do. I hate my legs with a serious vengeance, so would only do full length anyway and most maxi-dresses just make me look bigger. Doesn't help that I have a 34 GG/H (depending on brand) chest either. I'm a lost cause aren't I. Blush

What's the verdict on some of the maxi skirts that I've seen around. They seem to be mostly denimy, either mermaid shaped or a-line and very long. I might be able to cope with one of those as they're not too girly. They have a few in Mango.

If people here live up to their names, does that make me a Moose! Shock Now I know why I have such trouble finding clothes to suit me.

I have a pair of crocs, but I only ever wear them in the house and in my defence, only because they are more supportive than slippers and we have cold tiled floors. Blush
