Ok, I usually hate these threads, because I am horribly insecure and worry too much about what other people think about how I look, yet still manage to get it hideously wrong most days but having seen lots of similar comments about linen trousers and capris, I would really appreciate some advice from people significantly less style challenged than myself.
Having gained two and a half stone since breaking my ankle last year
I am now a size 16 and having had to give up walking five miles a day, my rear end is defnitely of the 'too jiggly for linen' persuasion (although it has to be said, they were very useful as the only trousers that would actually fit over my cast without having to be rolled up). I am very long bodied, but have short legs, which means cropped trousers of any style, just make me look even more out of proportion. My legs are my worst feature, having been quite muscular before, but now having turned to unsightly, unstructured mush. My thighs are awful and very big and I am anything but slim of ankle.
I hesitate to say what I have been wearing recently, in case its some sort of heinous crime fashion (which I'm sure it probably is) - but here goes - I have been wearing wide leg, lightweight Jasper Conran cargo-ish jeans, but have struggled for footwear as I'm still in a lot of pain and my foot regularly swells up after walking, so have some embarassingly grannish dolly bar flats with a supportive soul
and some Converse.
So come on ladies - what should I wear during this predicted May heatwave they are predicting?
If it helps, I am a SAHM with three dcs from 28 months to 9 years old, so most days consist of housework (although I tend to change before I leave the house every time anyway) school runs, toddler groups and the occasional trip into town.
