my linen troos rubbed me raw on the school run the other day. am scared to wear them now. bit eye-opening experiencing something akin to nappy rash - - note to mums - - it flucking hurts like a beeatch

KnottyLocks · 16/05/2011 14:19

Very tricky to find trousers made from natural fibres that don't cost big bucks. I'm with Bernard on the 'what the hall should I be wearing if not these then'.

Not white jeans.

KnottyLocks · 16/05/2011 14:21

What the hall? Did I mention my baggy brain?

BranchingOut · 16/05/2011 14:26

I am sick and tired of these bitchy threads where people criticise particular items of clothing and what they reveal of people's not so perfect bodies and 'poor taste'.

The 'Mums visiting town' one a few weeks back really made me feel sad - so what if someone is wearing a fleece, bootcut trousers and 'mumboots'? I don't give a f*. If they are having a good day out with their family and not bothering me then they can wear a nuclear protection suit for all I care. That thread was just post after post of sneering, nasty comments - covering up unpleasant attitudes by a 'look how witty and stylish I am' facade.

'Yes' to all the Style and Beauty threads which are about asking for opinions, searching for items or discussing products.

'No' to these horrible, bitchy threads full of criticism.

This is Style & Beauty though! Go and wind up Pedants' corner instead and leave us to our lotions, potions and subtle sartorial dilemmas.

BelovedCunt · 16/05/2011 14:31

oh come on its just a bit of a laugh. if you feel sad that people are laughing about fleeces there are bigger isshoos afoot.

ps i have worn linen trews in the past and most probably will again on occassion but i agree whole heartedly with the op

notnowbernard · 16/05/2011 14:33

I'm not going to be losing sleep over the fact that Dogsby sneers at my choice of trew...

Asinine · 16/05/2011 14:35

I love linen trousers, it's like wearing pyjamas all day.

ggirl · 16/05/2011 14:35

dogsby likes velour ffs so no one actually listens to her anywya

Al0uiseG · 16/05/2011 14:39

I am rather fond of a pair of White linen flared jeans from a few years ago. They sit well on my hips, have perfectly cut pockets and are the only flares I can wear. They are also Armani and therfore don't bag on the arse.

Dogsby · 16/05/2011 15:11

i LOVED the mumboots thread.
why do you click on it if you know it will annoy you?!

also to add to mumboots was trainers with toggles and craghoppers

Can't see white jeans/trousers without inwardly singing, "Whooooaaah, BodyForm..." [musical note emoticon]

Dogsby · 16/05/2011 15:12

i am delighted a thread baout linen trousers can get into a ruccus

Mumswang · 16/05/2011 15:17

i have this very lunchtime purchased two pairs of linen trousers from Primark Shock i n a size 18 Shock Shock

in my defence i'm hugely pregnant, nothing else fits but i'll be buggered if i'm going to spend loadsamoney on something i'll be wearing for 4 weeks max

my arse is the very definition of baggy (i think, can't actually see it)

LadyWord · 16/05/2011 15:23

I love my linen trousers, they're dark grey and quite fine linen, a good fit, and I think they look v nice. Perfect for ambling around in summer when jeans are too hot, worn with my BIRKENSTOCKS of course.

I hate these threads too and they just make me resolve to wear what the hell I want even more.

Maybe some of these baggy arsed, fleece-wearing mums aren't just some kind of empty-headed sartorial failure - maybe they actually deliberately prioritise other matters sometimes.

GetOrfMoiCase · 16/05/2011 15:28

at white stuff look. Theres always a bit of wooden jewellery somewhere about their person as well.

God knows why anyone chooses to wear linen trews, when they seem to bag as soon as you put them on, and crease immediately. I had a pair and I looked like an unmade bed.

BelovedCunt · 16/05/2011 15:45

there is never any excuse for fleece

KnottyLocks · 16/05/2011 15:45

tell that to sheep

ggirl · 16/05/2011 15:51

arf at a bit of wooden jewellery

i have loadss

Dogsby · 16/05/2011 15:52

as i make up the rules on this thread a fleece is ONLY acceptable when watching sport.

and it has to be close fit with NO wolves on it

OP posts:
moondog · 16/05/2011 15:53

There was on the beach on Saturday, believe you me.
Thankfully only a few sheep and an insane wind/kite surfer nutter to witness (apart from offspring. Obv)

While we are at it can folk with wobbly midriffs step away from t shrits please.
Not nice at all.

ggirl · 16/05/2011 15:55

woman at work wears the wolves fleece

ggirl · 16/05/2011 15:56
