Here on stepparenting, we are developing an exciting new range of greetings cards to help express your feelings to the evil stepmother in your life.

Come share your designs with us. There’s a large untapped market out there to be captured. 😁

Here’s the proper version of what I think may be one of our best sellers.

Extremely nasty and I say that as a stepmother. I love my dsd's and they love me. Their mother moved away while they were actually at school so crack on with your bitterness.

ScottishStottie · 14/01/2021 17:11

Well someone has issues...!!

It’s a comment on the attitudes we encounter on here all the time. They’re not about the children in the least.

They’re cards for ourselves. With the sentiments we inspire in others.

In fact, they’re direct quotes. From MN.

I got what you were doing @KumquatSalad - very good. Stepmothers can’t win on here. And I’ve lost count of the numbers of times posters have explained why blended families can never work.

Witchymclovely · 14/01/2021 17:15

Grin well I thought it was funny!

At least the thread may generate its own material. 🤷🏻‍♀️

That was a direct quote from someone criticising a stepmother as in "you love your baby best so it's inevitable you're going to neglect your DSC you evil witch" kinda context.

This is basically a vent thread to let off steam at all the shit and "you knew what you were getting into" type of prejudice that gets thrown at us on our own damn part of MN if we dare mention we're struggling a bit.

Youseethethingis · 14/01/2021 17:17

Do you take suggestions?
“Hope you enjoyed your day out with your DC - you have scarred your DSC for life by leaving them behind*
*with their mother on her contact time”
A snappier arrangement perhaps but you know what I’m saying Smile

Absolutely, suggestions and contributions are welcome. 😁

It looks like we might get suggestions inadvertently anyway.

Your house, your rules...

Ha ha stepmum, only kidding

Farontothemaddingcrowd · 14/01/2021 17:22

You’ll have to accept that you will always come second when you marry a man with children.

That one comes up a lot. Why does love have to be a hierarchy? Can’t you be a family and prioritise according to need? Which of course in practice will mean the children come first a lot of the time anyway.

KumquatSalad · 14/01/2021 17:24

How’s this?

Indeed. Why does it have to be a hierarchy set in stone?

I totally get what you're doing but it's so unfunny and just comes across as a bit nasty.

FionaMumsnet · 14/01/2021 17:42

We really don't think this is in the spirit - we're taking the thread down now.

fmylyfe · 14/01/2021 17:42

Hmm

FionaMumsnet · 14/01/2021 20:39

Sorry all - didn't quite pick up that this was meant to be a joke! We've reinstated now.

AccidentallyRunToWindsor · 14/01/2021 20:43

Love it! Stepmothers quite often can't do a thing right on here and the 'you knew what you were getting into' line boils my piss.

AccidentallyRunToWindsor · 14/01/2021 20:44

Oooh what about something along the lines of 'how dare you discipline your stepchild in your own home- that's the parents job'

Ditto attending parents evening and expecting anything for Mother's Day

Vellinbracelet · 14/01/2021 20:47

Oh bugger off and get a cat GrinGrin

AnxiousSM · 14/01/2021 20:49

The “poor child” comment! When they’re anything but!

I also find MN moderators are 9/10 anti step mum too.

“Of course they come first” comes up too many times.

HelloViroids · 14/01/2021 20:51

I love these!
