Thread two

We are over halfway through the season. It looks like the WDC will either be Lando or Oscar. Hoping for a grandstand finish in Abu Dhabi.

Thank you for the new thread. Glad the rain held off until we got back to the campsite.

That was a lot more rain than predicted and was very heavy at times so definitely the right call to delay the start. When the very heavy downpour went over head you could hear the gaps from everyone as it was so cold even with ponchos on.

We went from T-shirts and sunscreen to 4 layers and getting cold in minutes then back again.

F1LandoFan · 27/07/2025 17:57

Felt a bit sad for Lando as clearly there was an issue with his battery pack at the beginning as Oscar just cruised past! But it was a good drive from both of them and a great drive from Hamilton. Glad he got driver of the day.

Brazilianadventure · 27/07/2025 17:58

It’s why I always say sunscreen and waterproofs.

I hope you have managed to dry out. I think it was your first race did you and DS enjoy it?

We did. We had a as lot of fun all weekend. Both very tired now.

Place marking

DH finds it hilarious that I feel sorry for a billionaire sportsman but I would love to tell Lewis that he’s still great and give him a hug 😆

MidnightGloria · 27/07/2025 20:30

I wanted to give Kimi Antonelli a hug after the weekend he's had!

I know safety is important but the race just felt unsatisfying with the rain delay until it was nearly ready for dry tyres. I know the cars are different but F2 managed to race in the rain on Sunday and the cars mostly managed to stay on track. I’d go as far to say that I actually enjoyed the F2 race more than the F1.

Nico Rosberg at least provided some entertainment. That man has no filter and I love it. The look that Jos Verstappen was giving Nico on the grid was scary.

If you watch Matt and Tommy on the P1 YouTube review, they were not happy about how long it took to start the race, from the 14 minutes to get ready to the laps behind the safety car and then a rolling start.

The FIA need to take a risk and get the races going much quicker. Lewis was so good initially then stalled behind Alex when it was dry.

agreed Nico is brilliant

JamesWebbSpaceTelescope · 28/07/2025 18:29

It was much wetter for the f1 race than the f2 and the higher speeds meant a lot more spray

They could have started half an hour earlier though or a proper start not from the pit lane behind the safety car. It certainly didn’t need both!

I feel a bit stupid now for getting sucked into the Max to Mercedes story. Guess it’s because everyone would love to see how he goes in a completely new team (and I’m not even a Max fan).

I think it’s very easy to do. I have learnt to double check because there is so much fake news. I do think CH being sacked stopped it happening at least for 2026.

Ferrari have given Fred Vasseur a new multi year contract.

That is good news as it gives continuity and time for him to build the right team.

I love the idea of Lewis writing reports to different teams within Ferrari- I wonder how many other F1 drivers have done that.

Well done Charles, that was a surprise. The Ferrari seemed so affected by the drop of rain in Q2.

Aston’s have done very well - what a change from last week.

I still expect the McLarens to finish P1 and P2 tomorrow.

It was so sad to hear. He wears his heart on his sleeve and is so tough on himself.

I wonder how long Alonso will continue, he is starting to pick up injuries and a bad back must be so sore in a race.

Brazilianadventure · 02/08/2025 20:24

I am actually glad we go in to the summer break after tomorrow’s race. Not just for Lewis but a few drivers. I really wanted to give Lewis a hug.

I saw Ant Davidson being interviewed and he was very respectful but honest that he noticed changes as he aged and at 40 it is realistic age is also catching up with Lewis. Lewis in Spa was on fire last Sunday and had Ferrari not under fuelled him he could have got higher than 7th.

I can believe Lewis has lost his absolute top speed in qually but also he has struggled with the aero cars since 2022. I’ve always said 2026 is the key year for Lewis, if the new regs suit him and Ferrari get the engine and car right then who knows he might do.

OP posts:
RockaLock · 02/08/2025 20:49

It was so sad watching Lewis after quali Sad

He is clearly struggling at the moment and mentally he is all over the place. But let’s not completely write him off as being too old to be quick enough: after all, he did qualify in pole for the China sprint race and then went on to win it.

Brazilianadventure · 03/08/2025 05:52

@RockaLock I agree Lewis still has speed and talent to be on pole and win races. My point was in a sport that measures in 0.001 of a second even a 0.001 drop in reaction time or processing speed due to age has an impact.

workingcocker · 03/08/2025 06:14

Poor Lewis. I do feel sorry for him. She should have stopped at the top of his game.

RockaLock · 03/08/2025 06:57

I think he’s still trying to get one last championship, to make up for 2021, isn’t he.
But I think that maybe he’ll see how 2026 works out, and then retire. Or maybe he’ll not last that long, given how unhappy he is. It is very sad to watch him in interviews.

mydogisthebest · 03/08/2025 07:41

I agree that it is very sad to watch his interviews and how he puts himself down. I so wish he had not been robbed of the 2021 championship as he likely would have retired then on a high
