A long cold day in crowds of what they’re saying was around 300,000 people to watch a cup finally come home. 🖤🤍

Totally worth it.

Just watched it on Nufc channel those crowds were mind blowing

I love seeing celebrations like that. Glad you got to go experience it!

On another note, brilliant comeback from Rangers today. DH and my Celtic supporting friend were laughing at me at first. I then got a bit too excited over the last two goals and shouted so loudly they both jumped a mile. 😁😇🤣

Brefugee · 30/03/2025 11:23

excellent celebrations - things like that really give people a boost.

Gladbach beat RB Leipzig 1-0 at home yesterday, to go 5th in the table. We won't stay there but it feels good.
Boro won 2-1 against Oxford and Wednesday drew 1-1 at Cardiff so not a bad day for me with no losses.

The woman who usually sits next to me at Gladbach was hugely pregnant and gave birth just before the winter break. Have only seen her once since then, but yesterday she came with her DH and their baby. So cute all togged out from head to foot in Gladbach gear. (the baby, her too, come to that). They had to leave at half time, but not bad going for the baby, so hopefully he's started on the path to fandom (Gladbach sponsor the maternity wing in the city, and all babies born there get a newborn kit with a babygro, dummy, cute little socks and a scarf.

JasonTindallsTan · 30/03/2025 13:21

Sponsoring the maternity wing is so cool! I would love that here 😂 Sunlun fans not so much 👀

Tarkan · 01/04/2025 01:06

That’s brilliant about them sponsoring the maternity wing. Lovely idea.

A friend of mine’s mum is engaged to one of the stewards at Gayfield and they’re apparently planning extra stewards for the Arbroath v Stenhousemuir game because there have been rumours of a pitch invasion if we win. I’d been trying to work out how I could manage that from being in the middle of a row as well. 😇🤣

I have only once been involved in a pitch invasion- when Brighton were promoted to the premier league, it was great fun but kind of sanctioned in that they didn’t try to stop us.

Cuwins · 01/04/2025 12:27

Webster and Rutter both out for the rest season which is a massive blow

Hmmm.

How did you take the article?

Sam Dean not an Arsenal fan and I can't tell if this is damning with faint praise-the comments are pretty negative and spin what could be considered a positive into a very negative take on a young black player.
what a surprise!

MrsMitford3 · 01/04/2025 15:11

Also I really really don't want to see Saka start tonight.

He needs to be nurtured back carefully as there have been players rushed back and it has ruined their career.

His injury was very very bad and I think the PL is gone so a careful 15 mins at the end to tumultuous applause will be just perfect.

I thought that SD was an Arsenal fan? Does he support Chelsea?

I didn't think it was negative, he was saying how special he was as far as I can see?

I've only been in one pitch invasion too. Arsenal v United at Villa Park, FA Cup Semi Final replay in 1999. That game was pure madness 😂

DuncinToffee · 01/04/2025 17:05

A few of DS' mates were on the pitch after that Crystal Palace match

I've not been involved in any pitch invasions directly, although was in attendance at one after a Gillingham Leyton Orient game 2 years ago. Despite Gills winning 2-0, Orient were promoted due to other results going their way and the fans went onto the pitch to celebrate at FT. All good natured and result also secured Gillingham's League 2 safety after a very shaky season so I would have been on the pitch celebrating that if allowed 😂
That was also a crazy game, power went off for 20 minutes (evening match) so Orient knew they were promoted before the re-start and just let the Gills kick the ball round the back for the remaining minutes.

Tarkan · 01/04/2025 17:47

DH was saying he thinks they would possibly open the gates in the stand I’m in to sort of allow a pitch invasion but control it in some way too. My problem is that there are older people either side of me and knowing them I don’t think they’d be likely to want to take part, so if I did attempt it it would be the slowest and most awkward pitch invasion ever trying to get past everyone as our seats are really tight on space. 🤣 Where DH and my friend like to stand they don’t even have gates so they’re trying to work out if getting over the fence would even be possible for them. DH may manage but my friend is like me and has some mobility issues and she’s even had a hip replacement so we would honestly be the worst attempt at a pitch invasion ever all together I think LOL. We may just leave it to the younger fitter fans I think. 🤣

Discussing the gates also reminded me that they open the gate at my stand for us after each match to leave once the players are off the pitch, (the stairs to the usual exit get so jam-packed it’s safer for us to have the option). I like to walk along on the edge of the pitch every time. The last match I wasn’t looking where I was going and nearly walked into one of the players who hadn’t gone inside yet. 🙈🤣

Watching Notts v Man Utd. Lovely first goal.
Looks warmer than when we went to Notts to watch v Spurs on Boxing Day, which was incredibly freezing and bitter, and worse still Spurs abysmal.

Just back from Gills last game under the lights this season. 1-1 against Colchester. Shame it wasn't a win for Ainsworth's first home game but a decent performance from the team nonetheless.

Brefugee · 02/04/2025 16:39

gosh, so in the German cup, 3rd division Arminia Bielefeld (i have a soft spot, because i was posted there in the 80s and one of my mates used to train with them) knocked out 1st division Bayer Leverkusen last night. Which means that regardless of who wins tonight (between Stuttgart and Leipzig) everyone will be supporting them if they don't support the other.

cool.

In other news: I am very worried that Wednesday are about to have a financial collapse and vanish completely from the footballing landscape. Nobody has been paid (playing and non-playing staff). Again.

DuncinToffee · 02/04/2025 22:15

Ah well.

Not good from either side and I was reminded why I normally turn off Sky commentary.

Very disappointing result for Brighton tonight. Not sure what happened there, will have to read the reports tomorrow

JasonTindallsTan · 02/04/2025 23:54

Ridiculous goal from Sandro Tonali tonight. He had absolutely no right to score from there. At all.

Oblomov25 · 03/04/2025 06:43

How that wasn't a red card Tarkowski I'll never know! Saw it at the time, and Dh immediately said it was.
