What on Earth is this and what do I do with it?!

This is in a VERY delicate area and is absolute agony.

OP posts:

Hmm. GP and antibiotics, if you are feeling grotty in any way at all. Looks like the sebaceous cyst I developed under my bra strap.

CrotchetyQuaver · 11/06/2022 00:04

That's a carbuncle or boil id say. You need to see the doctor about that. Probably should start antibiotics and it may need lancing or cleaning out properly once it bursts and being properly dressed with packing in the hole for a week or two.

Can you tell I had one? Right at the top of my thigh not quite in the knicker line. Hurt like buggery.

Mariposista · 11/06/2022 00:04

OP I hope you’re ok. This thread is hilarious

What's the difference between a carbuncle and a boil? No real idea what a carbuncle is.

Carbuncle is many boils all joined together under the skin .

I would squeeze or (sterilized) needle it. I had one of those where my upper thigh meets my pum-pum years ago. It'd been a very hot summer which I think had been part of it. I thought it was a genital wart. Shock I squeezed it and ridiculous amounts of stuff came out. After that it was fine.

@me4real
What is a pum-pum? Fanny? Arse? Vulva? Droopy stomach? Trying to think of anywhere else an upper thigh can contact...

ThatsRoughBuddy · 11/06/2022 01:32

Don’t squeeze it! You'll let the baby spiders escape 😱

WiddlinDiddlin · 11/06/2022 03:43

I swore I would only lurk...

Come on OP.. what happened, did it explode sending you flying into space? Did it burst and drain and the entire of the OP drained out with it..

Tell ussssss...

I haven't had a good un in ages. Once i had a lump under my arm, in the bingo wing area, it was sore, i hot flannelled it for some days, it got nearer and near the skin.. eventually I got fed up, boiled a scalpel and stabbed the fucker and OMG so much THICK STUFF came out... the relief was incredible, as was the amount of goo.

Before the days of smart phones sadly.

k1233 · 11/06/2022 05:50

I had a pillar cyst once. It was amazing. Grew under my scalp for year. I nicked the surface and it decided it was time to move to the surface. It throbbed. Was extraordinary when it popped. Days of gunk and a thick, hard core. Stopped being so gunky after the core came out but still a few weeks of entertainment keeping it clean and then the sack wall finally coming out. The stuff of dreams!

Rugfeatures1 · 11/06/2022 06:23

Could be monkeypox....

I had one of those once but it was too big for me to deal with, had to get it medically removed and had stitches after, still got the scar!

Where are you OP? We will send help ... and a camera man

I'm so invested in this! First thing I went to when I woke up. The dogs p*ssed because he had his breakfast late whilst I scrolled for updates.

Yikes - I’m a wimp and would be phoning 111

maisieandvicks · 11/06/2022 07:58

I’m confused as to why this user having a potentially dangerous boil is funny. It’s not. It could develop into an abscess which then internalises and if not dealt with abruptly, it could burst, entering the bloodstream and poisoning you. I had one many years ago so speaking from experience. Not a laughing matter at all.

It's Sporners Corner not a health board, par for the course here.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 11/06/2022 08:01

How will it enter the blood stream if it bursts? Surely the opposite happens?

It can and does happen, but its not very likely, out of all the people and all the boils, its quite rare overall

Most of us deal with stuff like this by giving a good squeeze

Anything is potentially dangerous, Im about to make a cuppa, I could get scalded....

maisieandvicks · 11/06/2022 08:14

Laughing at some of your replies, I must admit. To the user who asked how it could burst inside and enter the bloodstream if it’s an external boil, you’re right, it can’t.

But if it turns into an abscess which is what happened to me, it begins to grow beneath the surface of the skin. I had to have something called needle aspiration for mine, to remove the gunk. Didn’t work and as a result, needed surgery.

Anyway I’m still new here so can someone explain to me what Sporner’s Corner is please?

Well thats why as soon as you see a boil you get rid of it, you dont sit there and wait

QuebecBagnet · 11/06/2022 08:18

Sporner = spot porn. For people who like stuff like Dr Pimple Popper videos.

Sporners Corner is where we ogle each other’s abscesses, boils, spots etc and then share videos of them being popped, the gunk that came out etc. It’s not for everyone 😉 🌋

maisieandvicks · 11/06/2022 08:21

I didn’t at first. I had a nipple piercing that never healed basically and I didn’t think much of it, until I noticed a lump around the site of the piercing but again, didn’t think much of it. Just thought it was part of the healing process. Then one day I noticed that I could feel a lump beneath the nipple. That’s when I started to panic, went to see a specialist, he confirmed it was an abscess but could get rid of using needle aspiration. Didn’t work, hence the surgery.

But I still am no clearer as to what Sporner’s Corner is 🤔
