Once, when I was about 20 my toenail started to hurt, I looked at it and it didn't seem different, but I noticed that the toenail was a teensy bit in the skin. I got the nail scissors out and cut the nail. It was like peeling open a can of ready-roll pastries-there was a small pause and then a pop as a small river of brown pus rolled out over my toe. I spent a happy half hour or so cleaning under the nail, and then over the course of about 6 months it grew out. I was almost sad when I said goodbye to the last thickened nasty toenail.
It has never happened again despite my best efforts to the contrary

How do you get your tonsil stones out?

FelicityBeedle · 05/04/2021 01:40

I have a special syringe with a curved end for my tonsil stones, I just fill the crypts with shittons of water until they pop out.

At work one day many years ago was stood up talking to staff and was absolutely doubled up in pain.

Like a period but a million times worse, I couldn't speak. Eventually when I could leave the meeting I went to the loo and in my knickers was what looked like a massive bloody octopus.

I was fascinated and traumatised at the same time.
I looked at it for probably 5 minutes before flushing.
After much googling later I figured out it was a decidual cast which is your whole lining coming off in one go. Never happened since.

My DH has a really deep blackhead on his back which I love.

I have a deep belly button and an old piercing scar which strikes gold.

Also love my kids wax, snot, cradle cap etc.

I adore this thread!

I had shitloads of dental treatment done while pregnant, including a gold crown on a molar. But it was really painful so went back. Dentist couldn’t X-ray but could tell there was infection under it, so she decided to drill through it. The abscess underneath burst. I remember her goggles and face being covered in green stinking pus. Smelt so bad the nurse promptly turned and threw up in the sink. Thank god for the anesthetic or think I would have joined her.

I did self surgery on myself years ago and removed a vellus hair cyst. It was amazing. I think I’ve got another one, I’ve bought the scalpels but can’t seem to psyche myself up to do it this time.

Oooh, I have found my people!!

I have a few gems... the teenage joy of a forehead spot bursting on to the bathroom mirror with a ‘splat’ ... a boyfriend who let me get a particularly ‘generous’ blackhead, a Bartholins cyst that hurt like buggery, but the relief was amazing and an lovely fond memory of a whitlow on my thumb that was huge and painful... Dettol and very hot water finally shifted that one! It left a clean but big hole and the pain of the squeeze made me see stars! But oh, the pus, the smell and the relief!
Not so many now I’m older ... but the Ddog gets cysts... Our previous much missed dog had a large cyst on her shoulder that just would not pop. One day, I just nicked it with a sharp knife ... Wow!! Acres of stinky stuff just kept coming out, skin cells and hair in a sort of cheesy substance🤮 it re-filled several times, and eventually went. She was such a good-natured dog, she seemed pleased it had gone!

Inspired by this thread I've just removed what I thought was a milia from my upper lash line. Turns out the despite it being there for years, it was just an ordinary spot and wasn't smelly at all. Just white and ordinary. A bit sad as i was hoping to pop out a pearl!

Redannie118 · 06/04/2021 12:00

DH has a VERY hairy back and often gets spot/boils/ infected hairs that I happily squeeze. One day he had a mahoosive one that seemed to come out of nowhere. He got out the bath and I gave it a gentle squeeze. The skin across the top split, there was an audible pop and a perfect, round rock hard little pearl of something popped out. Bloody amazing!!
I had radiotherapy for breast cancer last year. Because i have autoimmune skin condition i developed a blister the size of my hand under my armpit. I had to wear a sling to stop it rubbing and it was agony. When it eventually popped i cried with relief !!!!
D dog gets these little cyst things on his back. They grow into a little sharp point for a week or so then eventually you can get hold of it and ease it out. It comes out thin and hard like a dogs claw. Vet did tell me what they are called but cant remember!
After a recent op i had horrific constipation then a impacted poo. It was agony, it honestly felt like i was giving birth and the baby was stuck in my pelvis. The pressure was so bad i was shaking and crying. In a last ditch attempt to get things moving i ran a flannel under a red hot tap, wrapped it round my finger and pushed it up mybum. There was a searing, hot pain then just the most incredible, glorious release of pressure as I finally passed a poo so large it deserved a birth certificate. And yes, I did throw the flannel away !!!

I had a 'spot on my head for about 20 years, I didn't like it as if my hair parted the wrong way it would look bald. One day I noticed that it had gone soft, I think I bumped my head about a fortnight before, a few days after that I noticed that it felt wet. My DH looked - he is NOT a sporner - and confirmed that it had popped. What joy!

He gave it a little squeeze but wouldn't take pictures. I took the one below myself, excuse the greasy hair.

I kept up the squeezing/cleaning and two days later in the loo at work I decided to really have a big squeeze. Oh my, it was amazing. I saw a fountain of pus explode from my head and land on the mirror. It was the best day of my life.

No pics of the mirror as I didn't have my phone. Here he is on the first night though.

It's completely gone now and the hair has grown back.

That is truly stunning. These are amazing. Loved reading all the posts. DP has a huge abscess above his bum before I met him. He was very poorly with it. It burst in bed. Was admitted to hospital and the size of an orange. Had to have it drained and packed daily for weeks. I get him to tell me all about it like a bedtime story!

ginghamtablecloths · 06/04/2021 12:44

A family member used to get one very large blackhead midway between his backbone and side which when first emptied, produced a long (about 3") hard piece of whatever it was, dark at the outside edge which became yellow as it tapered off. It looked a bit like an oily old fag-end gone wrong. Regularly needed emptying then became smaller.

A previous cat had what looked like a sticky, spiky punk hairstyle. I gently wiped it and out came large thick white pus like silly string. It just kept on coming, like her brains were pouring out. At the vets she obligingly wiped her head on DH's coat sleeve - he put it into a boil wash as soon as we got home. Then we had the fun of trying to get antibiotics down her.

Can I be nosey and ask how you get rid of your milia? I always have them (worse since the pandemic with mask wearing and what not) but never found a satisfactory way of removing them.
Lurkingforawhile · 06/04/2021 13:16

@ThrowingAShellstrop turns out it wasn't a milia after all! I used a sterilised small needle to make a tiny incision and then I expected to squeeze out a bead or white stuff, but it was obvious straight away it was pus. I just squeezed it very gently and wiped it with a hot water soaked cleansing pad.

When I was pregnant I felt a sore spot on the underside of my bell where I couldn't see. It got really sore and I ended up going to the GP to get it looked at. They confirmed it was infected and prescribed antibiotics and a breathable dressing. It was so frustrating not being able to get at it. It was so painful if anything touched it but I would happily have given it the squeezing of a lifetime of I could have got access to it! Eventually it popped one day after a shower with a spectacular spurt of stinky pus! The relief was amazing Smile

Ooh another one!

After a bath I was brushing my hair and noticed a lump on the side of my head above my ear. Got my dh to take a look and he described a small black mark in the middle of the lump. I gave it a good squeeze (it wasn't tender or anything) and a long hard white lump came out. It looked a lot like a big fat maggot! It even had a black bit at the end which I realised was hair dye from having my hair done a few days before. I did wonder if it would have been visible to the stylist when they were dying and cutting my hair Blush

Nat6999 · 06/04/2021 14:26

Finished31 My late dp had ascites due to liver failure, he had 7.5 litres drained, it looked just like what had caused his liver to fail, cider. My exh had plasma exchanges to sort an MS attack, the first time the old plasma was nearly as thick as wallpaper paste.

BagLadyy · 06/04/2021 21:32

When DD was little we used to sit on her bedroom floor until she was asleep.

One night while sat there I felt a pain at my knicker line. Was a spot/ingrown hair.

I squeezed it and my hand filled with pus. It must've been massive and amazing.

I'm still so sad I didn't wait until I was out of her room in lighting with a mirror.

That was at least 5 years ago and I've never had one as good since. Sad

Didn't have time to read of all these but I have to tell you about an experience I had while backpacking.

I met up with a couple of Swedish girls who were a bit younger than me and for some reason they must have thought I was responsible or something.

One day they asked me to look at a painful spot on one of their backs.

I had a bit of a poke and the head came off and a wormy thing crawled out followed by a lot of puss and gunk.

Was a fascinating day which even topped my own infested cluster of verruccas from some years previous.

Dubbadubbadumdum · 06/04/2021 22:09

I had a salivary gland stone once that I squeezed out with my fingers, I can still remember the pop and then gush of saliva after it fell out. It was huge, and I've never had one since.

About a year after having lived in Africa, I had a shower and was drying off my belly button when I had a weird feeling in my tummy/lower groin area. I had another root around in my belly buttons and out came a very large oval stone of dried sweat and hair. It absolutely stank, and I've been paranoid about possibly growing another one as I have a rather deep belly button.

When I was a kid, we had a really lazy cocker spaniel who was happy to lie on her back for hours while we plucked blackheads from her tummy. She would be absolutely carpeted in blackheads, despite being bathed regularly. I remember once rubbing her tummy and realizing she had a bump by one of her nipples that turned out to be a huge blocked pore, it was about the size of a cashew, it popped out of her skin and she sniffed it then flopped back down again with a humpphfff and let me carry on. She was the best dog Grin

DP has what I can only describe as a small tunnel in the skin in one armpit that fills up with goop. I think it's all but closed over now, but I used to have great fun squeezing either end and getting a huge ribbon of thick gunk out if it. Apparently my father had something similar on his neck that a pin could be pushed through to clear it out, but after many many years of sporning, his has closed over. I will be devastated if DP's does the same.

Quite recently I had a really heavy period-I usually get them about twice a year and when I do I will get a big inflamed spot somewhere on my pubic area-I can only assume it's connected as I don't suffer with them any other time but when I have a rotten period. This time, the spot was an inflamed pubic hair follicle, that, of course, was right on my knicker line. After about two days of limping around with sore boobs, horrible cramps and sleepless nights, the spot popped and a double hair came out of the follicle with a not too small amount of yellow pus. The following day, in the exact same spot in the opposite side of my pubes, I got another one, far harder and more inflamed. I spent a few hours prodding at it, and it popped with a crack and a huge blob of green pus hit my knee. That's it for another 6 months or so, until I get another cracker of a period.
