I actually texted him from work today and told him our marriage was in trouble if he squeezed it himself.

He's been on them for 48 hours. And the doctor said to squeeze so...

It feels much better. Except for the blinding pain during the procedure. DH fancies himself quite hard but he was bent over, red-faced and sweating.

To save him future agonies- soak in hot salt water as often as possible. While it's soft, run a cuticle stick around the nail rim to lift the soften cuticle and scabby bit away. It will drain a bit at a time without needing too much squeezing.

I am making him soak it and gingerly trying to push back the cuticle. However a good, hard squeeze was required. Plus DH was very keen to be Mumsnet famous. He loves you vipers.
