We’ve all had to press pause on travel plans this year, while reminiscing about the great travel experiences we’ve had. While it hasn’t been easy, it’s also been a chance for us to reflect on the people we’re grateful to travel with, and think about the first trips we’ll take as things start to get better. Now that we’re almost ready to step out into the world again, Skyscanner wants to find out what you are looking forward to doing on your next holiday.

Here’s what Skyscanner has to say: “The past few months have been a truly eye-opening experience to what life would be like without travel. It has made us reflect and appreciate the impact travel has on us personally. As the world slowly opens up again and we start making plans to travel safely to reunite with the people and places we’ve missed, it also has us wondering how travel’s role has evolved in our lives.”

So we are asking you how have the past few months changed the way you see travel? Will you explore closer to home, or are you itching to complete your travel bucket list? What will be your travel goals - creating more memories with the family, or prioritising more time for yourself? What are the things you’ve missed the most when travelling?

Whatever your top list of things to do on your next holiday are, share on the thread below to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £200 voucher for a store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck,
MNHQ

We had been enjoying exploring America by way of fly drive road trips and had been looking forward go taking our little man with us this year for his first of hopefully many trips but unfortunately that's not now to be. We love meandering from place to place, staying longer when we find somewhere we love, like Nashville or Bandera, and skipping in and out of places we were less comfortable. We did a uk break in Norfolk for new year and squeezed in a centre Parcs long weekend before lockdown so we can't complain; hopefully we'll have a few weekends away in the uk this year end enjoy planning when we can venture further afield again soon.

Walking on the beach, appreciating the small insignificant things.

I'm looking forward to relaxing and swimming at pool/splash pad and having to not worry about cooking. Just the enjoyment of someone else cooking breakfast/lunch/dinner. Being able to go out and yet need foods and drink and not have to worry about washing up!! Or making beds in morning. Heaven!!

After being pregnant for all of lockdown (found out early February!) I'm looking forward to seeing my new baby playing in the sand and splashing in the pool.

He'll be 10/11 months by next summer and it will be amazing to just get away and relax*

*not my first baby, I'm aware relax might be optimistic 😂

My older two have been amazing throughout all of this and it would be such a treat to get away as a family.

Think we will be doing stay-cations for the next couple of years, not due to covid but because we have 2 kids under 3. We went abroad when our first was about 9 months and it wasn't really a holiday to be honest, found it too much hassle. Plenty of lovely places not too far from us to explore though, anywhere with a beach will do us fine! Look forward to going abroad once the kids are older and don't need so much stuff with them and don't need to stick to their routine quite as much.

We had our trip to Disneyland Paris cancelled in May. The DC had been so excited about it 😢 really looking forward to being able to go next March. DS can't wait for the Star Wars rides, and the DDs are dying to have breakfast with the Disney princesses.

I’m travelling home (Holland) to go see my family after my dad and his brother passed away in March after contracting Covid. Because of lockdown and a appendix op I was unable to go back until now. It’s been truly horrendous. We’ll be mostly doing daytrips this year unless I can go camping with my girls (depends on toilet facilities being open!)

Just sun. Proper sun. I'm going to Malta next month, all being well.

I want to be away in the sunshine enjoying trying all the different local foods and forgetting what day it is. Keeping the kids up until 10 and eating dinner in the evening sun and having lovely slow lazy mornings by the pool...

Were off to the States but cancelled obviously. Will be rebooking when safe to go and probably spend more to make it more special.

After a very boring year, it would be really great to explore somewhere new, have a new adventure with the children. I'd love to have an experience we can enjoy together. Fingers crossed that we can do that next year.

We won't go away now until Covid is done and dusted (or there a vaccine) but when we do I'm really looking forward to lying on the beach with a hood book and a drink. Bliss

Also not having to cook is a big bonus

Our family trip to Berlin was cancelled due to COVID - looking forward to rebooking next year and staying in an Airbnb. Visiting friends, flea markets, splashing in their beautiful outdoor lakes, visiting museums and awesome playgrounds - maybe a beer garden or two 😜

I am looking forward to going to Greece. I want to spend a day or two in Athens, visiting the sights, and then head up to the Pelion peninsular via a drive to Delphi. I want to hike on the paved donkey paths, sit in squares under the shade of the Palme trees enjoying lovely Greek salads and to swim in the crystal-clear Aegean.

I'm not a keen flyer so will probably explore closer to home. I'm looking forward to turning off devices and spending more time with my family. I have missed eating out, trying new foods and simply soaking up the atmosphere of a new place.

We were meant to go on our 1st family holiday but lockdown happened! I can't wait to step off the plane to the heat and speed time in the pool with my family. Walks along the beach trying out local restaurants

Somewhere with childcare 😂 it’s so hard to find somewhere that fits the bill - if someone could invent the perfect place that is small, with food but also self catering, with childcare on site and also babysitting for going out for a meal that would be great! And luxury that’s affordable 😂 moon on a stick.

In all seriousness we had a trip to Ireland booked for a wedding and it would have been the first time my DD met allllllllllllll of my irish Family. She would have had a great time, so we are hoping to go next summer for a family visit. All those extra pairs of hands are very much needed right now!

We have booked a seafront hotel for two days next month. That will be our first road trip post lockdown.

For a long time we've wanted to go away to an all inclusive resort with water park, Greek Island.
We would have done it this year but hadn't booked. We're camping instead, which we will enjoy. However looking forward to a beach holiday abroad as it's several years since we did that and the kids were young and v hard work! They're 12 and 13 now so we feel ready to try again!

We’ve cancelled our trip to Asia, instead we are having a week in a UK resort. I’m still trying to convince DH to book a week in Europe for our second week of A/L. Although we normally have more adventurous holidays, I’m in need of a relaxing week by a pool and guaranteed sunshine. Homeschooling on top of working longer hours in NHS have broken me. The stress of finding holiday clubs with wraparound is about to finish me off, so I’d like to collapse in a heap in a nice location!

Swimming in a warm, clear sea.

It won't be happening for a good while but I'm doing lots of research in the meantime. Just being in a different environment and culture is something to look forward to.
