We’ve all had to press pause on travel plans this year, while reminiscing about the great travel experiences we’ve had. While it hasn’t been easy, it’s also been a chance for us to reflect on the people we’re grateful to travel with, and think about the first trips we’ll take as things start to get better. Now that we’re almost ready to step out into the world again, Skyscanner wants to find out what you are looking forward to doing on your next holiday.

Here’s what Skyscanner has to say: “The past few months have been a truly eye-opening experience to what life would be like without travel. It has made us reflect and appreciate the impact travel has on us personally. As the world slowly opens up again and we start making plans to travel safely to reunite with the people and places we’ve missed, it also has us wondering how travel’s role has evolved in our lives.”

So we are asking you how have the past few months changed the way you see travel? Will you explore closer to home, or are you itching to complete your travel bucket list? What will be your travel goals - creating more memories with the family, or prioritising more time for yourself? What are the things you’ve missed the most when travelling?

Whatever your top list of things to do on your next holiday are, share on the thread below to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £200 voucher for a store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck,
MNHQ

We'll go to our usual cottage in Norfolk and enjoy the beaches, walks and seaside air! Just a change of scenery would be so nice!

Perro · 10/07/2020 15:06

Our next holiday will be a UK camping break, and I’m looking forward to surviving the inevitable rain and eating my bodyweight in toasted marshmallows Grin
Beyond that, I am dreaming of a European weekend break and planning a long haul adventure for 2021 or maybe 2022.

weebarra · 10/07/2020 15:28

Sitting around a table in the Placa Major in Pollenca, eating lovely food with my family in the afternoon sun.

SlipperyLizard · 10/07/2020 15:32

I can’t wait to eat out every day - the bliss of someone else doing the cooking and no dishes!

littlealexhorne · 10/07/2020 15:34

I'm really hoping to go to America (when its possible) for the first time for my next holiday, its been a dream for so long and I can't wait to make it a reality.

welshmardymum · 10/07/2020 15:49

Spending some time together away from trying to work and look after children, so not snapping and not worrying about them being on tech all the time - i'd love to be outside doing family things!
And maybe a few fancy cocktails!

fishnships · 10/07/2020 16:31

Thoughts of the Greek Islands... maybe wait until October, though.

jitterbugintomybrain · 10/07/2020 16:56

Beach, snorkeling, surfing, swimming, eating out, drinks at sunset. Not being scared of an invisible virus lurking everywhere!

katfje · 10/07/2020 17:06

I had a backpacking trip with my daughter planned before lockdown. We've had to postpone so I am looking forward to doing it next year if the situation improves.

lymphopenia · 10/07/2020 17:58

I've missed city breaks so much - museums, parks, viewpoints and most especially food. I've booked Spain for a long weekend in October and all I want to do is sit in the sunshine eating tapas and drinking sangria.

Al1Langdownthecleghole · 10/07/2020 18:15

I'd actually planned, but not booked a UK holiday this year, but I'm worried that the things I enjoy won't be possible or especially enjoyable for the time being, that said, I am desperate for a treat.

I'm looking forward to being looked after, so good food that I don't have to plan, cook or clear up after. Preferably eaten outside with a nice view. I want to be able to swim and maybe have a spa treatment (but not the go home in a dressing ground version that is being proposed)! I'd like a nice beach to sit out and listen to audiobooks, or failing that somewhere with a nice garden.

Culturally, I want to be somewhere outside that restores my soul. Anywhere that is naturally beautiful to walk in, and not teeming with people.

I can't wait.

Vicky0220 · 10/07/2020 20:43

My son has not been able to meet his Grandma, my mum who emigrated to Canada 15 yrs ago. I miss her, she misses us, he doesn't know yet and I'm thankful for that. Both she & I have cancelled our trips but we will get to fly again. Until then she's 'Grandma on a screen'.

We love our holidays near & far, there is so much to explore right where we are. Even before Covid-19 we loved our time away in the UK. Nothing will change. We just have to wait a little longer to visit Grandma.

Hopezibah · 10/07/2020 21:56

Being somewhere different (preferably warm!), eating out, enjoying a swim in a pool - those are the things I miss by not going on holiday this year. We have postponed holidays until 2021 at the moment.

lolly2010 · 10/07/2020 22:08

To go to Cornwall and explore with my family, and enjoy the beach.

CecilyBlue · 10/07/2020 22:47

Spending time together as a family outside of the house and enjoying tye freedom 9f no home working or home schooling.

shrill · 10/07/2020 23:54

I have missed travelling abroad but will wait until finances mean I can travel without worrying about spending and feeling safe so I can relax and not be focussing on avoiding contact and washing constantly. If it wasn't for the travel I'd be in the queues for the museums right now.

caravandreamer · 11/07/2020 02:32

Our holidays will still be the same (a week in a static caravan in Wales) but I now realise that holidays are a time for total relaxing and making memories for when the 5 kids are older.
Normally it's all about spending money constantly in the Arcades and buying light up toys from the club shop! Our next holiday I'm going to make sure my 5 kids try the activities of wild den building with sticks, bug house making, trampolining, Segway riding etc. Things we wouldn't be doing at home.

Gazelda · 11/07/2020 10:14

People watching at a cafe.

Or sitting on an exotic beach while DH and DD go snorkelling and wait for them to come back with excited tales.
Or wandering around Florence or a similar historic city filled with warmth and shade.

Twisique · 11/07/2020 11:37

I would love to swim in the sea again! I keep looking for bargains but they seem just as expensive as before Corona.

burwellmum · 11/07/2020 12:12

I had planned to take the youngest to the US this summer as I thought it was the last year he would probably agree to go away with his old Mum.
As I am a bit older I have had to accept that my plans for travelling once the youngest has left the nest are probably on hold until there is a vaccine.

Catapultme · 11/07/2020 14:54

My baby seeing the sea

motherstongue · 11/07/2020 17:00

Planning to go with DD to Paris next summer post exams for a short break as we had planned it for this year but it obviously didn’t happen. She loves Monet so looking to visit the art galleries and his home in Giverny.
We had also hoped to have a trip to Singapore then onto Borneo this year but I don’t want to go to Singapore any time soon so it will have to go on the back burner along with the New Year trip we wanted to have in New York this year ☹️ Maybe next year 😁

MonetManet · 11/07/2020 17:45

Eating some gorgeous seafood with a glass of crisp white wine.
Unfortunately our finances have taken a huge downturn so I can’t imagine I’ll be able to do it any time soon, not overseas at least.

malisa · 11/07/2020 19:44

Definitely we are missing our holiday this year to Spain. It was wonderful to walk on sandy beach, enjoy sunshine and taste delicious Spanish food last year. My children enjoying family holidays and coming back not only relaxed and happy but also with a lot of great memories. This year we haven't booked any holiday aboard and decided that will be better and safer for us to enjoy a short trips in UK and spend more time at home. We have a list of interesting places in UK we plan to see. I'm sure everyone of us can have a wonderful time here and make a lot of beautiful memories too.

magentastardust · 11/07/2020 20:38

We are just going to have a few days in Scotland or lake district this summer instead of our planned villa holiday in Portugal. Can not wait until next year (fingers crossed) and will be looking forward to just the great feeling of a hot sunny beach, walking along feeling the sea lapping around your feet and collecting pretty shells with my children. Great views and sunsets and warm evenings are also going to be savoured ! Relax and be happy :)
