We’ve all had to press pause on travel plans this year, while reminiscing about the great travel experiences we’ve had. While it hasn’t been easy, it’s also been a chance for us to reflect on the people we’re grateful to travel with, and think about the first trips we’ll take as things start to get better. Now that we’re almost ready to step out into the world again, Skyscanner wants to find out what you are looking forward to doing on your next holiday.

Here’s what Skyscanner has to say: “The past few months have been a truly eye-opening experience to what life would be like without travel. It has made us reflect and appreciate the impact travel has on us personally. As the world slowly opens up again and we start making plans to travel safely to reunite with the people and places we’ve missed, it also has us wondering how travel’s role has evolved in our lives.”

So we are asking you how have the past few months changed the way you see travel? Will you explore closer to home, or are you itching to complete your travel bucket list? What will be your travel goals - creating more memories with the family, or prioritising more time for yourself? What are the things you’ve missed the most when travelling?

Whatever your top list of things to do on your next holiday are, share on the thread below to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £200 voucher for a store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck,
MNHQ

I can't wait to take my baby on a family holiday. We usually hire a cottage in Norfolk with my parents and take the dogs. Last year I was pregnant, and I was hoping this year we'd be able to take my little boy so he could experience the beach for the first time at Bacton or mundesley. In terms of abroad I'm really looking forward to sharing our love of the Greek islands with him when we can! Nothing like eating at a restaurant watching the waves lap gently on the beach! So many adventures to come

Strugglingtodomybest · 09/07/2020 08:41

Lying in the sun with a good book.

Ashhead24 · 09/07/2020 08:43

We had an all inclusive in Turkey cancelled, still upset about that, we would have had the best time. We're going to a holiday cottage in Cornwall instead, but the weather is too unpredictable and we're going to have to do cooking and cleaning which is not what I want on holiday. Hoping to go back to all inclusive beach resorts again once covid is passed, but won't risk it until then.

I am looking forward to blue skies, eating together as a family - and no washing up !

mollysmammy · 09/07/2020 11:37

I was looking forward to taking my Daughter away, (I'm a single Mum and usually work full time, prior to lockdown), I had promised her a holiday this year, for some true Mother, Daughter memories. I appreciate, my circumstances are not terrible, and there are many people who have been/ are in worse situations. We are grateful for our health, and look forward to a holiday once it is safe to do so.

We're going to the Lake District. Just don't fancy going abroad at all, too much hassle, and we're keen to support the UK economy.
Looking forward to climbing some fells, and kayaking, plenty of fresh air and exercise.

I have some necessary travel to do later this year because we were right in the middle of moving abroad when all of this happened, but I would love leisure travel to be possible again eventually. The one thing that has really changed for me is that I'm a lot less keen to fly than I was. Back in the day I used to love flying, whereas in recent years I've avoided it because it's so shocking for the environment, but all the evidence is that pandemic viruses are here to stay even if/when a vaccine for Covid itself is found, so the idea of being stuck in a small space with lots of other people's recycled air appeals to me not at all. I'm keen to travel again (rather than going 'on holiday') so I will look much more closely at train travel, which I love anyway, and probably also sea travel (not a cruise though!) even though I'm not very good on water. Sorry, probably not what Skyscanner wanted to hear!

A cocktail in the sun, just not the same in your back garden!

dadshere · 09/07/2020 20:18

I just want to unplug from my bloody non-stop emails! lie down and read in peace and quiet!

PashleyB · 09/07/2020 20:21

I am most looking forward to a change of scene. Some countryside to look at would be lovely!

MumC2141 · 09/07/2020 22:29

Camping in France

Gin4thewin · 10/07/2020 07:30

Sitting on the beach, watching my children play and just relaxing

DonLewis · 10/07/2020 07:32

For me, it's going away somewhere warm and lovely, but, it needs to be private. So a private villa with a pool. On don't think these giant hotels with buffets will be my thing ever again.

purpleclaire · 10/07/2020 09:20

Reading a good book on the beach and swimming in the sea, somewhere in the Med - with the family, of course!

BellaVida · 10/07/2020 11:48

Spending time together as a family without the stress and pressures of lockdown living! We’ve had a difficult time and lost a family member, so we just need a change of scenery and time to recover. We don’t need a glamorous or exotic destination. We would love to go to the same place we’ve been camping for years, playing in the sea, eating outdoors, walking along the beach watching the sun go down, playing cards and board games together, simple things. The older we get, the more we value experiences over material things.

k8vincent · 10/07/2020 12:51

Anything that doesn’t involve being faced with our 4 walls!
Walking side by side.

snowymouse · 10/07/2020 12:52

We'll have a holiday in a cottage in Somerset, really looking forward to it.

Estraya · 10/07/2020 13:09

We'll probably be stay-cationing this summer but I'm really looking forward to going camping in Cornwall again next summer hopefully.

I'd really like to go somewhere new and see new things, but I think going abroad will be waiting for a while. I'm mentally planning a trip to Italy to see Rome for our next trip away. Who knows when that will happen though.

sharond101 · 10/07/2020 13:11

Relaxing and not cleaning!

HowsAnnie25 · 10/07/2020 13:22

We’ve had a holiday to France cancelled already this year. We’re taking that next May. We’re going to Yorkshire in August. We’re booked for California later this year so we’ll see what happens with that. Long term my attitude won’t change towards travel. We’ll go where we want as and when allowed. We’re also hoping to go to Disneyland Paris in February half term.

xxxxclarexxxx · 10/07/2020 13:25

I think these past few months have changed things massively! This was supposed to be a good year for us, I finish 5 years of college and uni to become a nurse, graduation was planned, i have been helping out on the front line working to care for covid patients.
we got also engaged at christmas as been together almost 20 years and planned a NYC destination wedding and that's now on hold so I think its put our plans on hold for now!
I think maybe holidays closer to home for the time being and hopefully be able to celebrate these things at a later date! X

queenoftheschoolrun · 10/07/2020 13:41

Having nothing to do but read my book in the sunshine and have someone else do all the cooking. Who knows when, if ever, that will happen?

CallmeBadJanet · 10/07/2020 13:59

Sunshine, fresh air, sea water

Buzzardbird · 10/07/2020 14:05

We're going next week. I have been furloughed but my husband has been working like a dog. My daughter has been really stressed trying to do school work set with very little support from school.
I look forward to watching them both relax and enjoy being in another environment.
