The prize draw for this activity has now closed.

Most people spend their time counting down the days until their family holiday as soon as the flights and accommodation are booked. Family holidays give us a chance to escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, but most importantly allow us to let loose and have fun. Maybe you’re an adrenaline junkie who heads for the biggest slide at the waterpark or perhaps your idea of fun is basking in the sun at the poolside with a good book in hand. With this in mind, TUI wants to hear about your most fun family holiday.

Here’s what TUI have to say: “At TUI, we know that your family holiday is a time to reconnect and have fun. That’s why we’ve designed hotels especially for families to make it the best week, or two, of the year. From allowing you to take your car seat or pushchair with you free of charge, to offering baby changing facilities, kids’ clubs and children’s buffets in resort, we’ve thought of every little detail to give you a hassle free and family-friendly holiday. We’d love to hear from Mumsnetters about their favourite holiday moments with their family.”

If you were asked to name one family holiday that is most memorable to you as being “fun”, what would you say and why? What type of holiday do you feel you can get the most fun out of? Would you rather spend your time in good company, basking in the good weather or eating good food? What kind of activities do you do to make memories with your children on holiday? Perhaps you all jump into the pool the second you arrive at the resort? Or maybe you’d rather go on a family excursion to see the local sights and scenery?

Tell us about your most fun family holiday on the thread below and you will be entered into a prize draw where 1 MNer will win a £300 voucher for a store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

The summer after my Mum and Dad split up, he took me and my brother to Tenby. He didn't drive, so we caught an early train, arriving before the B&B was open. The journey had been muggy, so I couldn't wait to take a dip just off the harbour, but there were loads of wriggly slippery small fish that brushed against the skin... This was the year Jaws came out, the first scary film I ever saw!
This quirky start set the tone for the whole holiday; we laughed so much!
(Incidentally I still have the scar on my knee from scrambling through a ditch to escape some over-friendly cows!)

Our first family holiday to Cornwall where we spent most of the days on the beach. It was fantastic.

I love big family holidays with all the generations together. I remember one time in Tenerife which has something for everyone- and an amazing water park! The all inclusive is perfect to take the stress of food and drink for fussy eaters and thirsty parents!

DH and I took our 2 DC to San Diego last year and it was the most fun holiday we've had. We did a combination of local sight seeing, theme parks, studio tours and beaches. We thought that San Diego was the perfect mix of relaxation and fun. We would love to go back again some day.

We have just recently had a family holiday in a motor home with our two newfoundlands. It was November and cold but luckily stayed dry. We had so much fun because we stayed away from technology. We played games, went on lots of walks and stayed up chatting and giggling from our beds.

Our first U.K. break to Butlins was amazing never experienced a holiday that was so focused on the kids fun first before the adults. We really enjoyed seeing the kids happy and having endless things to do

I've had the best holidays sharing accommodation with friends or family but mainly friends. Children played with each other & we all shared looking after everyone's kids. As kids got older we then did our own thing & abandoned the sharing idea, shame as it was fun at the time.

Disney is always a hit with our family. It might not be cultural or authentic, but the level of detail they go to on the rides and throughout the park always amazes me and there is something to please everyone in the family :)

Our best family holiday was to a resort in Cyprus. The entertainment and activities were amazing and the kids had a great time. I researched the place extensively beforehand and this made a huge difference.

Definitely Disney World with my 2 children. It was absolutely magical seeing it through their eyes. A holiday that I will never forget!

I grew up as an RAF child. We lived in various countries until I was 11 when we came back to England, which I had no memory of...

Until then I hadn’t really had any holidays to speak of, but the first year in England my parents said we were going on holiday, to Majorca. I. Was so excited about this as a class mate had been there and it was all I thought about, I would write stories about what it was going to be like, drew pictures.....

Then the morning came for our flight and my parents said oh by the way we are not going to Majorca, we are going to Florida! Two weeks in Disney world!

It was like heaven on earth, rides, swimming, eating WOW EATING, it was everything and so much more that I had written in my childish stories.

It was perhaps the closest I ever felt to my family and I loved it. Even years later I can muster up the same feelings I had there.

We had an amazing holiday to Turkey last year. It was our first family holiday abroad, and we also went with my dad. Everything was just spot on. It was a long way to travel but with good planning and having the kids tablets it wasn't a problem. Once there at the Efitalia Marin Resort the room was amazing a bedroom for my dad by himself, a large room for us with a double bed and 2 singles. A glorious balcony. As well as sooo many kids pools and entertainment and kids clubs on site as well as tourist things on site too like paragliding and swimming with dolphins. Our own line to help with a travel agent.
All the staff on site where incredible. Nothing was too much trouble and we all had a time to remember

Our best was when we took our daughter to Disney World last year, to see our normal shy little girl run up to Minnie Mouse and her favourite princesses to give them a big hug and show them her outfit she was wearing

A few years ago, we went to Los Angeles and spent a few days driving up the Pacific Coast Highway from LA to San Francisco. It was so much fun, we saw so many amazing things and visited such quirky towns along the way. It was something we all loved doing as a family, so much so that we are planning doing it again this year but over a 2-3 week period!

Our best holiday was when we went camping. My daughters loved the fact we were sleeping and cooking in a field, it was like an adventure for them.

This year we went on our first holiday - me and my son he was 9 months old. Everyone warned me that it wouldn't be a great holiday as it would be too much change for my little boy so I had no expectations but we both had a wonderful time, I think for the following reasons -
1- I booked somewhere I had been before so felt safe and comfortable
2- I didn't book any big excursions where we would be travelling hours.
3- I took each day as it came
It was brilliant and I can't wait for the next one.

We haven't been abroad with the children yet but we have been on family holidays in England and last year we went to Newquay. I love it as we all get our wetsuits on and go bodyboarding, we are by far not a sporty family but this is something we can all get involved in and enjoy and it's lots of fun for all of us.
