The time has come round again for the Insight team here at MNHQ to host our annual round up of the year, to find out what you’ve enjoyed taking part in this year and what you’d like to see in the future.

There’s the chance to win:

In 2018 we have given away over £60,000 in prizes - mainly in the form of vouchers for giving feedback, completing surveys or posting on threads Smile

This year we’ve really loved seeing Mumsnet users create the Mumsnet mattresses with Dreams, reading Mumsnetters’ feedback on the new BaByliss Big Hair Care, running our first male only product test with Below The Belt, and giving MNers’ children the opportunity to build their own bears with Build-a-Bear. We’ve also really enjoyed the press coverage from our Teachers’ Presents survey and hearing about your childhood toys in a sponsored discussion for BRIO.

For the chance to win one of the above prizes, post on the thread below:

  • Sharing what you’ve enjoyed taking part in this year or appreciated reading about OR
  • Tell us what you’d like to product test next year

Most of our product test and surveys are on site, but we also have a lot of projects just for our Insight Panel, as well as regularly giving them a heads up about product tests and surveys we’re running. If you’re not yet on our panel, you can sign up here. You can select how often you’ll be emailed, and you can leave at any time if you realise it’s not for you.

Thanks all for your time over the year and for your feedback!

Happy Christmas! Xmas Grin

I don't think I've tested anything this year. I did enjoy reading about the Beauty Pie testing.

I'd love to see those delivery mattresses in a box tested, and maybe a nice kitchen gadget or two.

And I say this every year, but it would be great if you did a follow up on some threads - especially the big ticket items - to see how people are really getting in with that mattress /tablet /vacuum etc.

goldengummybear · 02/01/2019 20:08

I would prefer testing products for me rather than my kids. Saying that, I enjoyed testing the period boxes with my dd aged 15. She'd like to be a lawyer when older and has the attention to detail that makes a fab product tester.

I'm disappointed to have missed out on testing Birchbox. I don't wear makeup but love skincare.

CountingDownToBedtime · 02/01/2019 20:38

My best product test this year has been the Dreams mattress which is on my Daughters bed.I am so impressed with it.

Tefiti2 · 02/01/2019 21:40

I’m fairly new to Mumsnet - so only had the chance to test out Tesco’s school uniform!
Next year I’d love to see opportunities to test out more to do with early years education (learn to write and homework tools)!

EvaHarknessRose · 02/01/2019 22:01

Maths tutoring (due to the poor state of dds year 9 teacher) or a cordless vacuum (due to the poor state of our house and our current dyson) pretty please.

MargotsFlounceyBlouse · 02/01/2019 22:48

I want Martin Money Saver to come and give me a personal money makeover!

Aubasaurus · 03/01/2019 10:35

I would be happy to test some fancy chocolate! DD(7) would love to test books - she's a fast reader - or something to do with coding and DD(3) would be happy to test power tools but that's probably not a good idea.

Ntinyn · 03/01/2019 13:28

I loved the yeo valley test! So nice to have a fully stocked yogurt fridge!!!

Would love to test anything Dyson!!!

edwardcullensotherwoman · 03/01/2019 16:01

I loved testing the Babyliss Big Hair Care, and my DDs are still enjoying the Amazon Fire Kids tablet, so thank you very much for that!!

I'd love a chance to test a Dyson or GHD hairdryer, or any other gadgets or electronics (geek alert Grin)

Happy New Year everyone!

Srathore · 03/01/2019 18:29

I would love to test and review the Dyson hair care range in 2019

JS06 · 03/01/2019 18:31

I really enjoyed taking part in the Dreams mattress project during 2018. I found the whole experience positive, the communications were great from Mumsnet and from Dreams, I changed my preferences and it was no problem at all. The delivery went perfectly and they sent me a free duvet as well. As a result of our experience we returned to Dreams for a new bed for another room. All good. Loved that project.

Would like to test more apps and technology things during 2019. We see many mentioned in the media but its always good to have a trial and test these things to the max.

powkin · 03/01/2019 18:33

Have found my Feb 2019 antenatal group to be a total godsend - great going through pregnancy with a load of other funny, supportive and insightful women.

Would be interested in recipe box user tests - not sure if this has been done before but there are so many now!

DuskPanda · 03/01/2019 18:35

I enjoy taking part in all the surveys and enjoyed reading about the Bayliss new Big Hair Care before buying one. Some of the reviews do encourage me to look into buying the products (i'm easily swayed!)

  • Tell us what you’d like to product test next year
I'd like to product test any type of household goods or food products
Caillou · 03/01/2019 19:33

I loved testing the Nokia health thermometer, such a godsend with 3 kids :)

I would love to test more beauty products, or products aimed at toddlers (potty training for example)

hareagain · 03/01/2019 22:44

I would love to test anything that saves me time.

smithsurvey14 · 03/01/2019 22:48

Applied for many but only got picked for Banjo Robinson. My son loved receiving his pack from Banjo and I was disappointed that the test was just for 2 letters but luckily he didn't reply to the second one so I was able to tell him that Banjo had chosen to write to someone different because of his lack of response.

I would like to product test chocolate this year.😉🍫

Beautga · 03/01/2019 23:01

I would love to test the new dyson pet vacuum.I have a border collie and have to vacum every day

shewhomustbeEbayed · 03/01/2019 23:11

I love reading about others testing, I haven’t been picked myself, am seriously thinking of changing to Fairy non bio after all the reviews and bought a Babyliss big hair after reading reviews on here.
I’d love to test a holiday at Bluestone holiday park in Wales.

emmasfabulous · 03/01/2019 23:49

I'd love to test any beauty/bath products

SeaGreenSeaGlass · 04/01/2019 00:02

I enjoyed testing Birchbox and fairy non bio, thank you.

I'd be interested in any products for sensitive skin (soap, shampoo etc). Also the air fryers that people mention here occasionally.
In general, it's good to have a variety of products and services available for testing. So household stuff, beauty, food (school snacks?), everyday stuff.

lindsieAnne · 04/01/2019 02:31

HoneywithLemon · 04/01/2019 09:47

I would love to product test a holiday as I'm a bit broke atm so can't afford to spend on one! And I desperately need a new dehumidifier so I'd love to test one!

NerrSnerr · 04/01/2019 16:06

I enjoyed taking part in the finance product test, the one where they helped plan your future with savings/ investments (I can't remember the name).

I'd like more electronics product tests, tablets, phones etc. I also like testing the food ones, my one year old loved the Little Yeos one!

FizzySmiles · 04/01/2019 17:31

I would love to product test the tefal cook4me one pot. I now have their soup maker and actifry and love their convenience products that help to produce healthy but quick family meals.
