Annual Insight end of year thread: chances to win!

The time has come round again for the Insight team here at MNHQ to host our annual round up of the year, to find out what you’ve enjoyed taking part in this year and what you’d like to see in the future.

There’s the chance to win:

In 2018 we have given away over £60,000 in prizes - mainly in the form of vouchers for giving feedback, completing surveys or posting on threads Smile

This year we’ve really loved seeing Mumsnet users create the Mumsnet mattresses with Dreams, reading Mumsnetters’ feedback on the new BaByliss Big Hair Care, running our first male only product test with Below The Belt, and giving MNers’ children the opportunity to build their own bears with Build-a-Bear. We’ve also really enjoyed the press coverage from our Teachers’ Presents survey and hearing about your childhood toys in a sponsored discussion for BRIO.

For the chance to win one of the above prizes, post on the thread below:

  • Sharing what you’ve enjoyed taking part in this year or appreciated reading about OR
  • Tell us what you’d like to product test next year

Most of our product test and surveys are on site, but we also have a lot of projects just for our Insight Panel, as well as regularly giving them a heads up about product tests and surveys we’re running. If you’re not yet on our panel, you can sign up here. You can select how often you’ll be emailed, and you can leave at any time if you realise it’s not for you.

Thanks all for your time over the year and for your feedback!

Happy Christmas! Xmas Grin

Have really enjoyed the sponsored threads this year and as always, loved the Christmas bargains threads.

Jellybean2017 · 08/01/2019 06:08

Really enjoyed testing the birchbox! And the lidl nappies were also very good. Dyson airwrap this year?! Or equally happy with more birchbox!

fluffums · 08/01/2019 10:35

I'd love to test vegan foodstuffs that are suitable for kids! My 6yo is fussy, and we're cutting back on dairy, so some kid-friendly vegan stuff would be fab.

Carriecakes80 · 08/01/2019 10:40

I would love to test more skincare for sensitive skin, or washing products! Or games consoles! lol x Like to do a bit of gaming once the kids are settled! x

vincenta · 08/01/2019 13:24

I enjoyed Fairy non bio test.Would love to test kids toys, beauty products, everyday items which make life easier.

Jux · 08/01/2019 14:17

I've really enjoyed reading the Trump and Brexit threads.

I would like to test gadgets, I love tech and feel like I'm living in Science Fiction Land Grin

In the 60 years of my life there have been so many developments and things which were the stuff of imagination are reality now. I can carry my money around in a tiny little bit of plastic; I can carry any number of books in a small portable reading device; I have a telecommunicator. So many things which were unheard of except in books! Electric cars, electric cigarettes, I could go on.

I would test a teleport.......

DrZoidbergsTentacles · 08/01/2019 14:54

I loved reading about BeautyPie and learned so much from that feedback thread. (So if i win, that's what i'll be choosing as my prize as i'm broke!)
I'd like to see clothes in product tests

lisapop · 08/01/2019 15:28

I'd love to try more beauty boxes

claza93 · 08/01/2019 15:35

I absolutely loved testing out the birchbox subscription! It is something that I have wanted to do for ages and after having shown my friends a lot of them were so impressed that they either signed up for it or set it up as a gift for someone else!

Would love to test a music subscription service or an electric gadget like a soup maker

FrederickCreeding · 08/01/2019 22:02

I was lucky enough to test a mattress (a children's one, so it's my dc who really did the testing).

I'd love to test a steam mop! I'm aware how sad this makes me sound Grin

Or a holiday of course!

Amber0685 · 09/01/2019 08:37

I would like to test home appliances and skincare for sensitive skin

SillyMoomin · 09/01/2019 12:38

I was very lucky to be part of the build a bear tests last year- it was fabulous and my DC had a great experience. It actually made me feel positively towards the company also!, as I'd avoided it thinking it would be cramped and sticky and a horrendous time - was very pleasantly surprised!

  • Would I be a CF to wish for a "test and keep" car trial ??!! Grin

Go on MNHQ You know you want to link up with Porsche or Range rover, don't you?! Wink

ChoccyJules · 09/01/2019 15:10

I can’t remember if it was during the past year or the previous one, but I found the McDonalds healthier options tester threads interesting.

By coincidence one of the best AMA threads has been the one by the McDonalds manager.

I honestly don’t visit the place more than once or twice a year!

Libby65r6 · 09/01/2019 15:48

I like reading the AIBU threads on mumsnet.... I never comment but they brighten up my day :-)

I would like to test some real life things as opposed to products. Like how easy is it to travel on the train/subway/busses or how child friendly is XY and Z. I've visited over 20 places home and abroad in the past 12 months aimed at younger kids and it's always hit and miss how child orientated they are. Our experience is European places and visits hit the mark more often than in the UK.

MumTo3Babies · 09/01/2019 18:18

I'm new to the site so I can't comment about anything that happened in 2018 however I would love to test some kids toys and maybe some beauty items, and a fitness watch!

All of these will help me resolutions, spend more time playing with the kids, more exercise (when kids are at nursery) and take better care of myself as I let me looks down when I had my 3 kids back to back!

cather · 09/01/2019 19:39

I've not been successful in applying to test anything this year but I enjoyed reading about the Birchbox test as I had been considering taking out a subscription.

I would love to test beauty products or a robotic hoover

Shuggas · 13/01/2019 19:48

I enjoyed the o2 actually, I didn't realise about the discounts the offer and getting reports and being able to block apps etc has been brilliant!

I also enjoyed the washing liquid and conditioner, I love trying new products!

I'd like to try more family products and personal care bits too Smile

Elliejojo · 14/01/2019 12:02

We seemed to miss out on lots of tests this year. Shame!
We’d love to test food, matresses, baby products, especially experiences and days out. ( we love testing anything! )

mrsglowglow · 27/01/2019 22:09

Would love to product test a family trip to disney world in 2019 Grin

We did the disney 24 hour challenge last Summer and bonus was we won the uk premiere tickets to incredibles 2 on the disney site. It was a magical experience and rubbed shoulders with the stars.

tillymint21 · 04/02/2019 22:17

I love reading all the reviews. I would love to test a really good mattress to see whether it can genuinely make a difference to sleep quality. Other household items would also be great. I’ve enjoyed testing skin/cosmetic products.

emphasisofmatter · 29/04/2019 16:28

Hi @JustineBMumsnet I was just wondering if the winners have been chosen yet from this thread?
Thanks

UpOnDown · 10/05/2019 19:01

I would love to test science toys.

JeanieJardine55 · 16/05/2019 22:08

I enjoyed testing the Kinder icecream. So did the rest of the family. Next year I’d like to test any sort of food. It makes the budget go further. I wouldn’t mind testing a mattress and Sam and Bertie would like to test dog biscuits.
