The time has come round again for the Insight team here at MNHQ to host our annual round up of the year, to find out what you’ve enjoyed taking part in this year and what you’d like to see in the future.

There’s the chance to win:

In 2018 we have given away over £60,000 in prizes - mainly in the form of vouchers for giving feedback, completing surveys or posting on threads Smile

This year we’ve really loved seeing Mumsnet users create the Mumsnet mattresses with Dreams, reading Mumsnetters’ feedback on the new BaByliss Big Hair Care, running our first male only product test with Below The Belt, and giving MNers’ children the opportunity to build their own bears with Build-a-Bear. We’ve also really enjoyed the press coverage from our Teachers’ Presents survey and hearing about your childhood toys in a sponsored discussion for BRIO.

For the chance to win one of the above prizes, post on the thread below:

  • Sharing what you’ve enjoyed taking part in this year or appreciated reading about OR
  • Tell us what you’d like to product test next year

Most of our product test and surveys are on site, but we also have a lot of projects just for our Insight Panel, as well as regularly giving them a heads up about product tests and surveys we’re running. If you’re not yet on our panel, you can sign up here. You can select how often you’ll be emailed, and you can leave at any time if you realise it’s not for you.

Thanks all for your time over the year and for your feedback!

Happy Christmas! Xmas Grin

Oh, and some CBD oil testing wouldn't go unnoticed either.
(Vape pen, oil or edible form - I'm not fussy.)

My little girl lived testing the Little Yeo yoghurts.

Next year it'd be great to try a subscription box with surprises in the post!

acsec · 29/12/2018 08:42

Loved testing the Lidl nappies, thank you. I now use them all the time, they are fab.

I look forward to seeing what products you have next year. Bit sad I missed the Birchbox, another beauty box would be fun!

guiltynetter · 29/12/2018 08:53

I would love to test beauty and food stuff. also with a 3 month old baby things too.

SansaClegane · 29/12/2018 09:39

As a family, we enjoyed testing the Sky Kids app this year. The DC gave me some good feedback to pass on!
I'd like to test more things "for myself" like beauty products Xmas Grin

Jojobean80 · 29/12/2018 11:21

I’d love to test beauty products so that us mums get the chance for a bit of pampering or even massage oils for couples. I know it’s mumsnet but I think that parenting is all about balancing time between your children, yourself and your partner

yasmin0147 · 29/12/2018 12:17

I’ve enjoyed testing the Birchbox subscription, I really love it when I get products to test.
I’d love to test some toys or kids things to try, they would be great at testing new products. It’s teall exciting discovering new things.

Cadensofia1 · 29/12/2018 14:04

I enjoyed testing the beauty pie range it was great to test New make up. Next year would love to test gadgets whether it's for home or personal or just cool gadgets or even days out /board games that get whole family involed
Keep up good work mumsnet

mollysmammy · 29/12/2018 14:26

I (and DD!) loved the Build-A-Bear experience - Hope the review and pictures were helpful. It was a real treat. I would love to test time saving products, to help out with the daily chores.

Alevel · 29/12/2018 16:06

I would love to test a meal service where they make you nutritionally balanced meals and snacks for the week. A try before you buy.

Tasha042 · 29/12/2018 16:36

I have loved testing the little angels bath range and the little yeos fromage frais this year, thankyou mumsnet 🙂 Looking forward to seeing what other products we get to test next year. I would love to test a new oven or washing machine 😆

gingerrubber · 29/12/2018 17:41

i tested yeo valley yogurts and have continued to buy them and hide them from the rest of the family cos they are so yummy. they are on offer at the moment in tesco 🐷🤓

Quietvoiceplease · 29/12/2018 19:43

I really enjoy the insights part of Mumsnet, and have been really grateful to have had the chance to test the Bettybox/Pink Parcel (it was really nice to test something with teenage daughter) and also the Innocent pea planting which we loved. Please keep doing what you do, because it is really interesting.
In terms of ideas for next year. There are a few things I'm interesting in purchasing and would love to know what others think, notably: Shark cordless vacuum (is it actually better than a Dyson?), one of those video doorbells (does poor wifi make it useless), and - because we have poor wifi coverage and terrible mobile reception, anything that relates to home networks and/or reception boosters. Quite a shopping list....

Thanks for all your lovely offers this year.

Quietvoiceplease · 29/12/2018 19:54

Just thought of a couple more things I'd love to test...

  • pelvic floor treatments/exercisers;
  • treatment for adult acne (I've just read Caitlin Moran in today's Times which made me think of it - she champions one type of treatment)';
  • beauty box type products - I got given one for Christmas and am surprised at how lovely it has been;
  • apps for keeping children safe online
  • anything which can be tested with active involvement of DDs - it is so lovely to share the process with them, and help them understand what market research/testing is.
Again, many thanks for all the lovely opportunities we've had this year.
myhamsteratefreddiestarr · 30/12/2018 01:29

We took part in the Bettybox/Pinkbox trial which was great, plus a couple of others which gave a voucher for taking part.

I’d like to see more tests for toiletries, shampoo, shower gel, perfume , beauty boxes etc.

In the past I’ve tested Fairy Non Bio and sun cream .

wheretoyougonow · 30/12/2018 01:54

I would love to test a new Hoover. Mine in on the way out and I don't know what to replace it with!
I would also love some eczema products to try as my sons skin is bad this year and I have yet to find something that works

Reastie · 30/12/2018 09:03

I enjoyed testing the banjo robbins product test as dd got so much enjoyment from it.

I’d love to product test exercise equipment (I haven’t ever noticed this being tested before).

minisoksmakehardwork · 30/12/2018 10:35

Over the last year we have participated in the O2 family family plan, the balneum scalp and skincare products and the Pink Parcel and Bettybox trials.

I think my favourite has been the 02 family plan as it really has saved us a lot of money since moving DH over to O2 and the qustodio app has been brilliant for monitoring our eldest's use.

DD was thrilled with the items in the bettybox and they have proved very useful for her.
i0-9jo k.noppijI have checked on related threads to see what people have thought.

I would like to see some more everyday environmentally product tests - substitutes for plastic such as the beeswax wraps. Previously you have had product tests from companies like Method, but with the current push against plastic I think this is something which would be really great to get behind.

minisoksmakehardwork · 30/12/2018 10:35

(apologies for the random text mid post)

Halfahunnerstillastunner · 30/12/2018 14:19

I need a new hoover so would love to test a Dyson and Shark as they seem to be the most popular for dog hair.

I would also like to see more focus on environmentally friendly products - reducing plastic use is a big concern for me so items that could help me with this would be appreciated.

stayathomegardener · 30/12/2018 22:02

Oooh testing requests... I like this!
So number one wellies!
Then.
Cordless vacuums.

Mascaras.
Music thingys Spotify, Deezer...
Window cleaning machines.
Steam mops.
Boiling water taps.

Probably in that order. Looks sternly at HQ.

Looking forward to 2019. Smile

kzedii · 31/12/2018 00:08

I enjoyed testing the banjo robinson service was a nice suprise for my child.
Would like to test items like hoovers (especially shark one) karcher window cleaners etc.

Theseptemberissues · 31/12/2018 13:30

As a result in taking part in the clear blue ovulation test at the beginning of the year.. i’m currently cuddling my 4 week old Grin
Would love the opportunity to test baby/parenting/style and beauty products in 2019

silverlace · 31/12/2018 16:06

I know it is a biggie but I would really like to test an electric car. My driving pattern is perfect for one but I really want to know if they are a practical car to have.

I know all about saving the environment etc but they are so expensive and would hate to make a mistake by buying one and finding it doesn't do what I had hoped.

CopperPan · 31/12/2018 20:01

I enjoyed testing the balneum scalp and skincare products and Asda bath products. I'd like to test more household goods, e.g. hoovers, irons - sounds boring but it's always so useful to get genuine feedback on products like that!
