The time has come round again for the Insight team here at MNHQ to host our annual round up of the year, to find out what you’ve enjoyed taking part in this year and what you’d like to see in the future.

There’s the chance to win:

In 2018 we have given away over £60,000 in prizes - mainly in the form of vouchers for giving feedback, completing surveys or posting on threads Smile

This year we’ve really loved seeing Mumsnet users create the Mumsnet mattresses with Dreams, reading Mumsnetters’ feedback on the new BaByliss Big Hair Care, running our first male only product test with Below The Belt, and giving MNers’ children the opportunity to build their own bears with Build-a-Bear. We’ve also really enjoyed the press coverage from our Teachers’ Presents survey and hearing about your childhood toys in a sponsored discussion for BRIO.

For the chance to win one of the above prizes, post on the thread below:

  • Sharing what you’ve enjoyed taking part in this year or appreciated reading about OR
  • Tell us what you’d like to product test next year

Most of our product test and surveys are on site, but we also have a lot of projects just for our Insight Panel, as well as regularly giving them a heads up about product tests and surveys we’re running. If you’re not yet on our panel, you can sign up here. You can select how often you’ll be emailed, and you can leave at any time if you realise it’s not for you.

Thanks all for your time over the year and for your feedback!

Happy Christmas! Xmas Grin

enjoyed the school uniform testing, would love to test some eye cream that really work get rid of lines etc ,

sensesensibility · 21/12/2018 19:51

I reckon parenting things, food and household items. If you want someone to test a heated airer or vacuum cleaner I'm right here (a very sad state of affairs that I'm excited by this!)

Loopy9 · 21/12/2018 20:27

I’d like to test drive some cars.. any car but would love to try electric cars.

I’d also like to test any kitchen gadgets.. and games for teenagers or paraben free beauty products.

Thank you x

Popcornandbuttons · 21/12/2018 21:51

We were lucky enough to test the Amazon Fire tablet this year which is fantastic. My two kids love it.

I'd like to test more household gadgets and products - like Dyson vacuums or kitchen products.

picklemebaubles · 21/12/2018 21:52

I discovered the Instant Pot on here, got one on Black Friday and am a convert!

I'm keen on all things cooking, so would love to trial anything kitchen related.

Also keen for information about optimising heating when I'm alone in the house- maybe plug in fires, preferable pretty ones!

DarkDarkNight · 21/12/2018 22:12

I enjoy reading the beauty tests so would like to see (and participate) in more of those.

MadeForThis · 21/12/2018 22:20

Have loves testing fairy non bio and Lidl nappies.

Would love to test hand held vacuums like a dyson or shark.

Would also love to test a kids tablet.

dottyaboutstripes · 21/12/2018 22:27

I don't think I've tested anything recently though I have in the past. Food is always a favourite but clothes and make up would be right up my street!

Whyisitsodifficult · 21/12/2018 22:31

An eye cream that can banish dark circles! A cleaning company product test would be great, personal trainer. A limescale remover. I could go on but won’t!

TheBrilloPad · 21/12/2018 22:45

We did the build-a-bear product testing this year which was fantastic. I'd love to test more days out/places - we got the opportunity to visit Harry Potter world a few years back which I still remember so fondly. It would be great to try other theme parks/attractions etc.

Cismyfatarse1 · 21/12/2018 22:55

Loved Betty Box and Pink Parcel and am a convert to Balneum (which autocorrects to anal rum).

Would love to test more beauty products, healthy food ranges and gadgets.

justforareply · 22/12/2018 00:02

I'd like to test pillows
Spent £££ and never quite right
Kitchen gadgets
Lipstick/lipglosses/mascaras

sickmumma · 22/12/2018 00:13

I would love to test some baby products - due my 4th baby in the new year and compared to my other three (who are a little older) there are so many new and exciting products around to make life easier!

I would also like to test skincare/beauty products as I think with 4 children I may need it!!

Shriek · 22/12/2018 02:38

I'd like to see MN/ers take a serious stance on ecological product promotion and taking a stand against promotion of products that wont degrade even over a lifetime, like nappies for instance

As mums we can make a massive impact on our contribution to climate change and products are shaped and developed by market force. It's in our hands to do this.

ArchbishopOfBanterbury · 22/12/2018 04:07

I really enjoyed testing the new babyliss big hair.

I'm excited to become a mum next year and qualify for testing lots of baby products with the little one.

Notveryadventurousname · 22/12/2018 04:19

I loved testing the Dreams mattress...or rather my DD did. She still loves it and sleeps much better and more comfortably than on her old mattress. We were so thrilled to be picked....felt so lucky!

afrikat · 22/12/2018 06:34

We'd love to test out

Dyson hair dryer
Dyson air wrap
Kidizoom camera
Toucan subscription boxes

VictoriaBun · 22/12/2018 08:28

I pretty much apply to test most things, mattress, hair dryer, beauty box ,washing powder. Not been lucky to get chosen as yet ,so hoping for a chance next year !

Mammatron · 22/12/2018 08:48

I'm very glad I tested the Balneum dry skin and itch relief Cream and the dry and itchy scalp shampoo, I liked both products especially the shampoo as it really sorted my scalp out.

Next year, I'd like to see curling wands tested. There are so many different ones available and I have very thick and heavy hair that doesn't hold a curl well so it would be great if I could find a good one without having an expensive trial and error of buying lots!!

EggysMom · 22/12/2018 08:49

Haven't been chosen in 2018 to test something, would love the opportunity - could I ask that you don't restrict 'baby/toddler' products such as food and toys to a specific age range, as my learning-disabled son is 9yo but still favours some baby food (it's comforting) and certainly still plays with toddler toys!

Shireslass · 22/12/2018 10:02

I am really pleased I got to test the fairy non- bio. To the point I will be buying it in future.
Things I would like to test: something to help with my thick, heavy and long hair. All day it is pulled up and I look awful. I cannot sit it short as it will just become huge and I am rubbish at 'doing hair'

JC4PMPLZ · 22/12/2018 10:49

Soltan sun cream event was really good, with a lovely takeaway bag of stuff that was useful for holidays.
Would love to test video editing software.
Also more screenings of premiere films.

MakeTeaNotWar · 22/12/2018 12:15

We enjoyed testing Banjo Robinson, thank you. Would really like to test food and um, booze Xmas Wink

IWouldBeSuperb · 22/12/2018 12:52

Currently doing my first test for Mumsnet - the Fairy Non Bio detergent and conditioner, which is fab!

Would like to see more rest of 'gimicky' baby and child products - white noise sleep aids etc. - to see if any are really worth investing in!

RaininSummer · 22/12/2018 13:10

I have never been lucky enough to take part in a test but do enjoy reading about them and they sometimes introduce me to new products.
