The time has come round again for the Insight team here at MNHQ to host our annual round up of the year, to find out what you’ve enjoyed taking part in this year and what you’d like to see in the future.

There’s the chance to win:

In 2018 we have given away over £60,000 in prizes - mainly in the form of vouchers for giving feedback, completing surveys or posting on threads Smile

This year we’ve really loved seeing Mumsnet users create the Mumsnet mattresses with Dreams, reading Mumsnetters’ feedback on the new BaByliss Big Hair Care, running our first male only product test with Below The Belt, and giving MNers’ children the opportunity to build their own bears with Build-a-Bear. We’ve also really enjoyed the press coverage from our Teachers’ Presents survey and hearing about your childhood toys in a sponsored discussion for BRIO.

For the chance to win one of the above prizes, post on the thread below:

  • Sharing what you’ve enjoyed taking part in this year or appreciated reading about OR
  • Tell us what you’d like to product test next year

Most of our product test and surveys are on site, but we also have a lot of projects just for our Insight Panel, as well as regularly giving them a heads up about product tests and surveys we’re running. If you’re not yet on our panel, you can sign up here. You can select how often you’ll be emailed, and you can leave at any time if you realise it’s not for you.

Thanks all for your time over the year and for your feedback!

Happy Christmas! Xmas Grin

Having recently moved house, I would love to test any home-related goods as I'm constantly in the market for home wares and forever reading reviews.

We were selected for taking part in the anchor butter challenge and we loved that so any baking/cooking related products that I can do with my dds will always be a big win ! Smile

Mattress testing info was very useful, we are in need of a new one as our old one is over 20 years old!

Would love to test a DSL/Bridge camera. Really want to improve my skills this year.
On the personal front, Tena lady sort of pads... and anti-dandruff shampoo!

allthingsred · 01/01/2019 06:53

Can't remember being chosen to test anything this year.
But I've enjoyed contributing on the mn site in general.
Would love to see & hear about more household good & beauty boxes. Or stuff aimed at teens.

I've not been lucky enough to try anything yet, but I do like the insight threads as people are honest.

I think it would be great to try some extended rear facing seats.

I've applied for a few things but not had any luck in getting something to try.

I would also love to try the Dyson Airwrap. Along with everyone else I imagine!!!

Plus , I would like to try any new cleaning products or Nespresso pods or the aerochinno (sp?).

pongopig · 01/01/2019 15:31

I tested some Balneum skin cream and shampoo this year. I enjoyed that, they were good products. I think it was last year that I got a Tesco voucher and a recipe to buy and make a lamb dish. That was fun and involved the family so more of those would be good. I’ve also been to a few cinema previews courtesy of Mumsnet in the past - they were great but I haven seen any recede hi how is a shame.

RatRolyPoly · 01/01/2019 15:48

My favourite thing to take part in was the unofficial "what would you buy from Lovehoney?" thread. Actually it was one of my favourite threads of the whole year I think!

We can be a tad bit cynical of a racy thread around here, but it was really interesting to get a little bit a glimpse into other people's recreational activities Grin Blush

If I could choose anything to test next year it would be... um... family board games. That sounds lame doesn't it, but I think it would be fun! And air freshening products (candles, diffusers etc.) because I have two kids and a cat to mask the whiff of and I'm forever trying to find new ways.

billybear · 01/01/2019 17:58

loved testing the school uniform, great quality .would love to test cordless hoover or kindle or i pad , love testing products get excited when i get picked

skenn3285 · 01/01/2019 18:47

I'd like to test real nappies, we're just about to start with them and there's too many options!

chickensandbees · 01/01/2019 18:50

I'd like to test an Amazon echo or similar. I have never used one and just don't see the point of them but people seem to love them. Would like to see what all the fuss is about.

In the past I've tried out restaurants with the DC which has been fab and I'd love to do that again. It's lovely to involve them.

chickensandbees · 01/01/2019 18:52

Oh ratrolypoly family board games is a great idea. Would love to do that as well.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 01/01/2019 18:56

Would be interested to see if anyone found taking the female targetted vitamins was worthwhile, so would love a test on these. Also, I am far too interested in things like cordless hoovers/rhoomba-similar robot hoovers/steam cleaners.

Youssef15 · 01/01/2019 19:15

I had the chance to test the baby yogurt recently and I wanted to test more products especially the birchbox one . I would like to test beauty products and household cleaning products and i'll be happy to review because I'm a mum and I'm allways looking for new cleaning products to make my house clean and my kids safe.

BlackeyedPetitsPois · 01/01/2019 22:23

We loved testing the Build a Bear and Banjo Robinson.

Would like to test healthy snacks for toddlers and young children. To be honest I love testing anything!!

Bebe03 · 01/01/2019 22:57

I would love to test a vacuum cleaner, I can never seem to find one which suits all my needs!!

Fanjango · 02/01/2019 00:38

More household products to test. Practical items not beauty items, as parents we can rigorously test a hoover or washing machine. Anyone can test a foundation. Would help,if the questionnaires were more concise. Too many similar questions, especially about many different suppliers/brands is off putting.

MyNameIsJane · 02/01/2019 07:39

It was about 10 years ago but I enjoyed the joggler trial. It was a bit like an Echo Show prototype. I was sad when it stopped working and being supported.

I would like to test smart appliances.

An automated vacuum cleaner is top of the list for me!

goose1964 · 02/01/2019 13:43

I'd like to test some educational games for younger children

MerryMarigold · 02/01/2019 14:17

I'd love to test holiday accommodation! Grin Or a cordless vacuum cleaner. Also a system of recipes and ordering ingredients from supermarkets, which I've heard Sainsbury's do, but not tried it.

Natsai1 · 02/01/2019 15:09

Was one of the lucky few or my son rather to trial the new dreams mattress.
For the new year, I would love to test a descent upright or cordless hoover or a carpet washer as my carpets are in need of some TLC. Also as now the focus will be on getting fit, something like a Fitbit or a weight loss device to help shift those pounds.

Belo · 02/01/2019 15:15

I enjoyed reading the Beauty Pie testers thread and wished it was me. So, please do this test again and pick me 🤞🏻

Flapdoodles · 02/01/2019 15:38

I enjoyed the Balneum itchy skin cream, in fact my daughter enjoyed it as much as me. It really does stop the itch!

For the new year I would like to see some tests around family meals out, kitchen gadgets or general household products such as soap powders etc.

I try to complete most of the questionnaires - if they apply of course - but as a pp said, the brands one was too long and felt like hard work to complete.

Dimsumlosesum · 02/01/2019 15:39

I really enjoyed reading aboit the big hair care, and would love to test beauty boxes myself in 2019. I've never done one and am feeling like I need to do some self-love and cathartic appreciation.
