The time has come round again for the Insight team here at MNHQ to host our annual round up of the year, to find out what you’ve enjoyed taking part in this year and what you’d like to see in the future.

There’s the chance to win:

In 2018 we have given away over £60,000 in prizes - mainly in the form of vouchers for giving feedback, completing surveys or posting on threads Smile

This year we’ve really loved seeing Mumsnet users create the Mumsnet mattresses with Dreams, reading Mumsnetters’ feedback on the new BaByliss Big Hair Care, running our first male only product test with Below The Belt, and giving MNers’ children the opportunity to build their own bears with Build-a-Bear. We’ve also really enjoyed the press coverage from our Teachers’ Presents survey and hearing about your childhood toys in a sponsored discussion for BRIO.

For the chance to win one of the above prizes, post on the thread below:
  • Sharing what you’ve enjoyed taking part in this year or appreciated reading about OR
  • Tell us what you’d like to product test next year

Most of our product test and surveys are on site, but we also have a lot of projects just for our Insight Panel, as well as regularly giving them a heads up about product tests and surveys we’re running. If you’re not yet on our panel, you can sign up here. You can select how often you’ll be emailed, and you can leave at any time if you realise it’s not for you.

Thanks all for your time over the year and for your feedback!

Happy Christmas! Xmas Grin

Really love reading all the reviews especially the beauty and fragrance ones so much easier to buy a product knowing it's been tested by us mums and it's a review you can trust

We loved testing Banjo Robinson this year. So much so that we ended up subscribing! I would love to test make up, or other beauty products. Or food!!

I always search for product reviews with "Mumsnet" written to make sure I get a good idea of how good the product really is!

I'd love to try some ethical brands or natural products, eg natural baby products, essential oil perfumes and diffusers, that sort of thing

Happy Christmas!

Merry christmas everyone,

Unfortunately, I have never been lucky to be chosen to be a 'product tester', if I was though in 2019 I would love to test a makeup brand and then post on Mumsnet how to apply and get ready while you are a busy mum and have kids around you lol xx

My daughter enjoyed the BettyBox and I think more beauty essentials and skincare tests would be great .

Beauty products or gadgets (for me or the family) would be great. Educational games would be good too. Was lucky enough to be picked to test some fairy which was great to try something new.

There has been a great range if things to try this year and I am pleased to have been selected quite a few times! I've been a member for 4 years and really enjoy being on the panel .
The best thing I tested this year was the Babyliss Big Hair Care. Brilliant product ehich I still use most days and constsntky recommend!
The most random was the Banjo Robinson Penpal experieince, my 4 year old really liked that! And the baby didnt get keft out with nappies to trial as soon as she was born!
Next year Id love to try some products related to health and fitness, because I'm trying to learn to lool after myself better and think thats somethibg many Mums could benefit from.
Id also love to test some days out with my family!
A squishy new appliance will always be on the wish list too!
Thanks for another great year!

Oh little Pea 😁

I've taken part in several product tests this year and particularly enjoyed testing the Johnson's Baby Bath range.
I use MumsNet a lot for advise and tips and found it invaluable for ideas from other mums when we started weaning.
I would like to see more parenting products for testing, and some stuff like pamper products for us mums, because boy we need it sometimes!

We loved testing the single mattresses, dd has rrally felt the benefits of that one!

I would love to test the Dyson hair range as pp said. I have just recently started taking an interest in hairstyles beyond pony tails and it'd be great to try something to help! (I'm basically clueless!)

I've enjoyed my emails the most, some of the AIBU questions and their answers have actually had me crying with laughter! We've enjoyed trialling yoghurts and the kids sky app, which btw my oldest son is still obsessed with (he's just turned 6)

Things we would like to see offered to test-
CakeFood in relation to child or adult
BearApps suitable for children (2-8years old)
WineDrink in relation to child or adult
HmmThe dyson airwrap looks like it's amazing.....so I'd love to see if it really is as good as it says!
Xmas SmilePrams/pushchairs
FlowersClothing for children
StarBeauty box subscriptions or beauty items

And I'd also like to say a huge thank you for everything we have been offered and taken part in this year, It's been a pleasure! X

I'm having another baby which still feels very surprising, and I would love to test baby stuff next year. It's amazing how things have moved on since my last pregnancy (8 years ago)

Not sure we've tested anything. I note that many of the 'tests' have reverted to products for mums with babies/under fives. Many long-term Mumsnetters' children are 'coming of age' (tweens/teens) so more products aimed at families with older DC would be appreciated.

I haven't tested anything this year but remember fondly when I got chosen to test drive a car for 2 weeks - that's was truly amazing! I like reading about appliance tests and having lost my washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher in quick succession this year appliances are are top of my lists to read about - also cooking gadgets (instapot - pick me!!)

I'd like to test household products as my daughter and I, aged one, have just bought our first house 🏡 and have a lot of DIY ahead of us. Anything to make our life a little easier I would be interested in buying so if there was the chance to test a product first it would be a bonus.

Loved testing the kids bath stuff from Asda. Nice to have a variety and the kiddo loved it.
Next year would love to test some bigger electricals.

WE have loved testing the amazon fire. I would like to see more eco friendly and plastic free products to test to see what is out there for us to use to change our lifestyles for the future.

I (well, my son) enjoyed testing the Dreams mattress. He desperately needed a new mattress and has slept so much better for having a decent one.

I'd quite like to test a new addition to a food brand (like the honey sweetened ketchup) - nothing swanky but a bit different, like a new variety of Heinz beans or chicken dippers in the shape of Egyptian hieroglyphs or something Grin

I'd like to test: a Nintendo switch (!), And airwrap thing (to see if it's as good as they claim) and also some household stuff like robot hoovers, handheld vacuums and other labour saving devices (maybe an instant pot?). The sort of thing that is a Bit Too expensive to justify buying unless it's sure it's what you'll want.

Steam generator irons, a magimix or a Kenwood chef maybe?

I really enjoyed the Yeo Valley yoghurt test as my daughter bloody loves a yoghurt! We also did the Lidl nappy test which was excellent timing as I'd just had baby number 2 and, with two in nappies, finding ways to cut costs was great! I also enjoyed reading the McDonald's feedback because we go there a lot and always have, but it was nice to read about he "converted".

As for next year, we are due to buy our first house in the new year so more household type products would be fab, to help us with decor decisions etc. I also like the idea of more services/experiences, like the financial planning tests, or the days out tests. Product-wise, some educational toys might be quite interesting, like the coding ones or little gadgets that are too expensive to purchase without getting solid positive feedback first.

I’d like to see tests of vegan convenience food, & eco products such as vegetable bags & shampoo bars.
I did a mn tasting day a million years ago for Burger King ( as the token veggie), where there wassupoosed to be a follow up - it never happened & I often wonder if they just didn’t like our feedback Grin
I’d also like to see testing and reviews of adult non-beauty items, as I don’t have small kids & am not fussed about my appearance. Apart from plus size tights. Someone really needs to find good ones of those!

I'm currently testing the Fairy Non-Bio liquid and softener.
Really enjoyed the test actually, since I normally stick with laundry pods and this has shown that liquid works better/easier to control.

I would like to see more home items for testing. Things like mattresses/appliances that cost a considerable amount and a large purchase.
To be able to test those at no cost (apart from time) is invaluable - especially for those on low income.

I would also like to see more opportunities for 'mum' testing, instead of just parenting. Things like alcohol, nice food and luxury toiletries/beauty products Grin

Not wanting to take liberties or anything
