Annual Insight end of year thread: chances to win!

The time has come round again for the Insight team here at MNHQ to host our annual round up of the year, to find out what you’ve enjoyed taking part in this year and what you’d like to see in the future.

There’s the chance to win:

In 2018 we have given away over £60,000 in prizes - mainly in the form of vouchers for giving feedback, completing surveys or posting on threads Smile

This year we’ve really loved seeing Mumsnet users create the Mumsnet mattresses with Dreams, reading Mumsnetters’ feedback on the new BaByliss Big Hair Care, running our first male only product test with Below The Belt, and giving MNers’ children the opportunity to build their own bears with Build-a-Bear. We’ve also really enjoyed the press coverage from our Teachers’ Presents survey and hearing about your childhood toys in a sponsored discussion for BRIO.

For the chance to win one of the above prizes, post on the thread below:
  • Sharing what you’ve enjoyed taking part in this year or appreciated reading about OR
  • Tell us what you’d like to product test next year

Most of our product test and surveys are on site, but we also have a lot of projects just for our Insight Panel, as well as regularly giving them a heads up about product tests and surveys we’re running. If you’re not yet on our panel, you can sign up here. You can select how often you’ll be emailed, and you can leave at any time if you realise it’s not for you.

Thanks all for your time over the year and for your feedback!

Happy Christmas! Xmas Grin

My DD is now 10, so I'd be interested in testing more tech/apps, particularly around safeguarding, parental controls etc.

Please can I test a holiday? Or gin. :)

An idea of testing products and expressing own findings is great. I have enjoyed taking part, commenting on McDonald post , filling surveys and reading posts about Dreams mattresses and keeping children active.
I would like to test educational and interactive toys for children.

We loved testing the Dreams mattress for my son. He's never slept so well since 😀

Would have loved to be. McDonald's tester 😋😋😋

The one test I really liked is McDonald’s healthy range. Never thought it could be so tasty and low calorie as well.

A suggestion for the new year is if test can include more people as I only got accepted in 20% of the test I applied.

I loved the Birchbox trial! It totally kicked up my beauty regime a notch

I'd love to test lots of different chocolates please. Ones that actually taste like chocolate.

I enjoyed reading about the babyliss test and I'd like to see some city bikes on test like Bobbin.

I loved being part of the Birchbox beauty box test. I’d love to see more hair/beauty tests next year. I’d also love to test a holiday or a mattress.

I'm a great fan of Insight. I'd really recommend it to everyone. I've had the opportunity to take part in lots of product tests over the years, the most notable being a mattress which I love to this day. This year I've done the Carphone Warehouse, Totally Money and Change4Life apps as well as testing out the Betty Boxes and Pink Parcels with dd.

The product tests I'd like to see would be electrical items like food processors or vacuum cleaners.

I tested the Fairy detergent for you, it's not one of my normal detergents, anyway I was thrilled to receive 2 large bottles in the post, thanks Mumsnet.
I have thought long and hard over products I would like then chance to review (there are already some great ideas).
As a busy mum I would love to test a steam iron, which cuts down on ironing time.
Carpet cleaner - which can remove most things, and leave a nice fragrance afterwords (vomit is so hard to loose the smell)
A steam mop which does not leave more water than it cleans.
Finally own brand tampons which can last the night.
thanks

I'd like to test some products for dry skin. Would also like to test any beauty products, shampoo or food. Happy Christmas to all!

I've enjoyed testing the Fairy non-bio products, but what I'd really be interested in would be environmentally friendly products like wooden toothbrushes, wash nuts etc. These things always seem a bit pricey so it would be good to have feedback to read before investing!

I loved reminiscing about my favourite toys in the childhood toys thread! The feedback on Beauty Pie was useful but I’ve not yet signed up as I was hoping to have enough make up for Christmas to save me buying any for a while!
As I’ve just started having flushes, I’d love to test the new Grace product mentioned above and any other remedies/ supplements that could help with these. I need a new mattress and find the choice out there really confusing so would love to test one of these! The mattress developed by Mumsnet was too hard for my liking I’m sorry.

I don't get picked for tests very often but I did enjoy the sky kids app.

It would be great to have some tests / experiences / film things outside of London.

I've loved reading what everyone had to say about the babyliss big hair product and the school uniform tests. Id love to be able to test out a washer/washer-dryer, id also love if you did something where we could learn a new language.

Hi

I enjoyed testing the balneum products. I'm a mother to six and I'm finding that my children are suffering from dry skin, more and more.
I'd love to test more eczema products.

I've also recently learned that humidity affects skin and general health. I wouldn't mind testing a humidifier if at all possible!

Further, just by way of feedback, it would be nice if your prizes were distributed amongst more winners in order to give more mumsnetters a chance. So say for example, rather than only one person winning a £300 voucher, what if ten people could win £30 each?
Not sure what others would think of that :)

Many thanks.

I've not done much testing this year, but since being involved in the Balneum test have switched to that and my psoriasis on my legs is sooo much better.

I'd like to try a hoover like a Shark, or household somethings.

There are a variety of steam mops on the market. Choosing the best for you is a bit of a minefield. Therefore I would love there to be a product test on one.

Sharing what you’ve enjoyed taking part in this year or appreciated reading about

I’ve been in a few product tests but nothing memorable (sorry). The one I was in, I think nappies, I left feedback right away but didn’t get the survey link (it went into spam). It was then chased but I was on holiday without email access (I don’t use my account connected to my phone for Mumsnet - I only have personal emails on that). Consequently I was a few days late so I worry I’ve been blacklisted even though I try to give extensive feedback.

Prior to this year I’ve really enjoyed different product tests many of which have become regular purchases. Despite trying for about six years I’ve never been in a ‘big’ product test.

I just asked DH which the most memorable test I’ve ever done was and he said CIF which was an amazing cleaning product!

Tell us what you’d like to product test next year

I was gutted to miss out on the BeautyPie test as I’m desperate to try this but have such sensative skin I’m loathe to pay three months membership when I could have a reaction. I’d love another beauty test.

Over the last few years I’ve been upset to never get on one of the mattress tests as ours is knackered and the four we’ve brought in the last five years have all been for children!

Generally beauty product tests would be great; Birchbox was another I’d have liked so more like this!

Or anything to support healthy eating and family meals. Both me and DH work, I have a three hour round trip commute and we have a six and two year old so anything to help with convenience is great.

Oh it would be great to know how many apply and the criteria for choosing as some people get lucky multiple times.

I am still testing the Fairy non-bio which whilst I wouldn't go as far as saying I loved (it is laundry after all) it is nice that things are clean first time.
I was gutted to miss out on the Birchbox so would love to test something similar next year. I also would like to review more non-fiction books.
