The time has come round again for the Insight team here at MNHQ to host our annual round up of the year, to find out what you’ve enjoyed taking part in this year and what you’d like to see in the future.

There’s the chance to win:

In 2018 we have given away over £60,000 in prizes - mainly in the form of vouchers for giving feedback, completing surveys or posting on threads Smile

This year we’ve really loved seeing Mumsnet users create the Mumsnet mattresses with Dreams, reading Mumsnetters’ feedback on the new BaByliss Big Hair Care, running our first male only product test with Below The Belt, and giving MNers’ children the opportunity to build their own bears with Build-a-Bear. We’ve also really enjoyed the press coverage from our Teachers’ Presents survey and hearing about your childhood toys in a sponsored discussion for BRIO.

For the chance to win one of the above prizes, post on the thread below:

  • Sharing what you’ve enjoyed taking part in this year or appreciated reading about OR
  • Tell us what you’d like to product test next year

Most of our product test and surveys are on site, but we also have a lot of projects just for our Insight Panel, as well as regularly giving them a heads up about product tests and surveys we’re running. If you’re not yet on our panel, you can sign up here. You can select how often you’ll be emailed, and you can leave at any time if you realise it’s not for you.

Thanks all for your time over the year and for your feedback!

Happy Christmas! Xmas Grin

Would love to test maybe a day out at an attraction. Such as Peppa pig world or Thomas land.
Failing that a cordless hoover would be amazing. I love some of your products you have tested and like to read the reviews even if I have not tested myself

StandUnderMyUmbrella · 22/12/2018 16:29

I would really love to test some home security, such as the ring doorbell as these products really interest me.

I loved testing the Pink Parcel - it was something i wouldnt have even thought about before and was lovely to receive lots of lovely goodies.

Philomensapie · 22/12/2018 17:25

Oh yes, we loved Banjo Robinson too! I'd forgotten about him!

StillNoFuckingEyeDeer · 22/12/2018 17:49

We tested the Banjo Robinson thing, which was fun.
I'd personally like to test food or a hair removal gadget (that makes me sound like a real catch, doesn't it?!)
I prefer reading the threads where people have tested completely novel products or services.

ColdCottage · 22/12/2018 17:49

Product tests are really useful. When we moved house and had to buy white goods I found this so helpful. Same with baby products.

I'd like to see the following products tested for the 2019 models:

Dish washers
Wellington boots
Waterproof coats. Adults and children.
Lipstick
Microwaves
Dishwasher tablets
U.K. holidays for families
Mooncups
School shoes

ColdCottage · 22/12/2018 17:50

Oh and fans and air conditioning units please

chilledteacher · 22/12/2018 18:24

Loved testing Fairy Non Bio, still using it now and my children smell lovely.
In 2019 I would like to test handheld hoovers, baby products or days out. We have children ranging from 4 months to 14 years so trying to find a day out to cater for all of us is a bit tricky :)

madmumofteens · 22/12/2018 20:45

I'd love to try a wide range of products especially beauty or home products! Currently empty nest syndrome lots of time on my hands lol 😂

CormoranStrike · 22/12/2018 20:54

I love gadgets and photography so anything in that line would work for me - oh and motoring

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/12/2018 20:59

I haven't been selected for a test for absolutely ages. :(

Would love to try a restaurant, or more beauty products.

BeeMyBaby · 22/12/2018 21:11

I enjoyed reading the below the belt test with DWives gutted that their DPs would have to sign up to Mumsnet to be testers. That was a nice bit of banter!

Treaclespongeandcustard · 22/12/2018 23:33

I’d like to test a Dyson hairdryer please Grin

biffyboom · 22/12/2018 23:35

I enjoyed being involved in the laundry research project, keeping an online diary and it was interesting to see how everyone else taking part went about their routines.
I'd like to do something like that again.

I've enjoyed reading the feedback on many of the beauty related product tests, and wish I had been selected, especially for the Beauty Pie test.

For a future product test, I would like to try the Nanu pillows, as I've just come across an advert on FB for them, and liked the concept.

MrsFrTedCrilly · 23/12/2018 00:55

Merry Christmas Mumsnet Xmas Smile
We loved testing out the Banjo Robinson experience, so nce to see that testers comments were taken on board and feedback made a difference.
Personally I’d like to find the perfect Washing and cleaning products this year. I’d like to see some greener products tested by Mumsnet like alternatives to cling wrap etc.
Living the dream, I am!

EinsteinsAngelicSnowmenHCB · 23/12/2018 01:13

DS enjoyed testing the dreams mattress...........I would have loved to have been selected to test something for myself, such as babyliss big hair, birch box etc, sadly it was not to be. Sad

I did get selected for the fairy product test, but I'm still waiting for it to arrive.

frowner · 23/12/2018 04:35

Enjoyed testing the Fromage Frais but would love the opportunity to test something bigger....super king size bed bigger possibly Wink

Sierra259 · 23/12/2018 07:45

We didn't get selected for as many tests this year but my eldest really enjoyed the Banjo Robinson test. I also won one of the sponsored surveys which was great! Smile

Next year I'd like the chance to test some home appliances, beauty products (more skin care stuff as I don't really wear much make up) and perhaps some events/exhibitions/days out with the DC. Thanks for giving us these opportunities MN!

Mmumof3 · 23/12/2018 13:42

This is my first time here. Am I being unreasonable.

I have depression and anxiety I've had it for 5 years and it just took over my life. I have now started medication and therapy which is helping slowly. My husband is not supporting instead I'm told I'm being stupid or just crazy and mad.
Anyway he wanted to go visit family abroad but because of my anxiety I'm scared of going any where from my home let alone to another country. I am getting better and hoping soon I will be back to my normal active and social self. He wanted initially for me to come with so he says. But he has just booked a ticket just for himself in March before the Easter Holidays. I had said to him just help me with my anxiety and me and the 3 kids can come with u then. I only found out about booked ticket because he left email open on phone and when I questioned him his not sorry about instead got angry with me. I'm hurt that he lied and does not care knowing that my anxiety is going to be worse if I have to look after the kids for 3 weeks all by my self. I have said go just for 10 days but he said he will go for as long as he wants which is 3 weeks. He knows I'm scared to drive how am I going to pick kids from school.
I'm just feeling hurt and it's making me emotional but instead of crying I just argue a lot with the husband.
Am I being unreasonable?

Mmumof3 · 23/12/2018 13:47

Sorry am new here posted in wrong place😲😲🤯

asuwere · 23/12/2018 15:23

We were lucky to able to test an Amazon Fire tablet, it's been great!

I'd love to get a chance to test a Dyson hairdryer!

IndianaMoleWoman · 23/12/2018 15:32

I’d like to see cars tested next year. I know it shouldn’t be an issue but there’s so much sexism around car buying it really beggars belief; as a woman, car showrooms can involve salespeople completely talking down to me like I know nothing (which to be fair I don’t, but I know my family’s requirements and I know my own mind with regards to what I do/don’t want), or worse, they completely ignore me and talk to DH, only stopping to make a joke about “the wife” getting to choose the colour Hmm

I’d like to read real life reviews of family cars/MPVs/SUVs/electric vehicles, written by Mumsnetters who have used them in real world situations rather than just a test drive. Any car threads always bring up so many posters who have regretted buying a car, often due to something that they would’ve known about before if they’d had a proper test drive and/or the sales team had really listened to their requirements.

So get on it please Mumsnet! Only after your hard earned festive break though, of course Xmas Smile

Readitandsleep · 23/12/2018 15:41

I’ve been chosen for a few product tests. Useful things like fairy non-bio, kids food & snacks. Always welcome. I have bought a few things based on the feedback to which demonstrates the feedback is useful.

The range of products is pretty good. Perhaps more of a focus on things for the mumsnetter rather than the kids for future product tests. Beauty products, clothes etc (I know there have been some of this, would like to see more / be chosen as a tester).

PashleyB · 23/12/2018 18:25

I enjoyed the birchbox test and found couple of products I would not have done usually. It was also a lovely treat.

I'd like to test some paint as I have yet to find any that can survive the battering my hallway gets and also some children's hair detangling stuff (that's quite specific I know!)

bluebump · 23/12/2018 20:13

I got to try the Birchbox boxes this year which was great, I got to try a big range of new products to me.

I’d like to try things like household cleaning products, gadgets, more beauty products etc.

MotorcycleMayhem · 23/12/2018 20:27

Migraine relieving devices please! Migraine affects a significantly higher proportion of women than men. Devices like the Cefaly would be incredibly welcome. There is a huge community of migraineurs here who would no doubt be very happy to volunteer to participate.
