Laundry can be a surprisingly personal thing - whether you have a special way of hanging out your clothes or a foolproof way of getting your clothes to smell great. With this in mind, Fairy Non Bio would like to hear what you consider the most important when it comes to laundry, and what you’d love your laundry detergent to do.

Here’s what Fairy Non Bio has to say: “We have some people tell us that scent is the key to a great wash, others who won’t compromise of softness or those who are all about natural ingredients or the gentleness of the formula. We would love to know what you just cannot not go without?”

Do you focus on getting rid of any odour from your clothes? Perhaps it’s important to you that your laundry products are skin-friendly for the entire family? Maybe you put a lot of energy into keeping your clothes in great condition? Are you a lover of fabric conditioner, keen to ensure that your clothes are all super soft?

Whatever the most important aspect of laundry is to you, share this on the thread below to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

That it doesn't spill over and take over the whole house.

BeBesideTheSea · 08/06/2018 03:11

Real life: Super stain removal at 40 degrees.

Magical fantasy: keep white shirts white even when bunged in the rest of the school uniform AND not aggravate DS’ severe eczema.

TillyTheTiger · 08/06/2018 04:05

Definitely stain removal for me - my son is a dirt-magnet!

Ashhead24 · 08/06/2018 07:33

Most important for me is that it's easy. Bung everything in, add the powder and press the button, then it comes out clean. Don't have time for doing anything fancy.

Chapman31 · 08/06/2018 08:09

Softness and a nice clean smell!

stripesandsilver · 08/06/2018 08:36

I always need my washing to smell nice. Fabric conditioner and zoflora ensure this.
I'm also obsessed with hanging it on the line. It just makes it feel that bit more fresh.

biffyboom · 08/06/2018 10:04

Stain removal on an economical wash is the most important to me.

voyager50 · 08/06/2018 10:21

For me getting the stains out and having the laundry smelling fresh is the most important thing.

MeetMeInMontauk · 08/06/2018 11:34

Increasingly, I am finding that my choice in detergent is governed more by what won't leave residue in the machine more than by scent. Most liquid detergents are dismissed for precisely this reason - after a while, they leave a manky damp smell in the drum. But I also try to go non-bio, as my DD sometimes has ezcema flare-ups related to specific brands.

FawnDrench · 08/06/2018 12:24

Mine is not having to use 200 different laundry products to clean clothes and other stuff in the house.
It's a potential nightmare - I prefer a versatile detergent that can "cope" with different temperatures, colours and textures.

I only use wash powder.

sunshinewithabitofdrizzle · 08/06/2018 13:31

That everything is clean and stains are gone first try. I like teh washing to come out smelling good but it's not a necessity.

QueenOfPharts · 08/06/2018 13:42

For me it has to work well eg get out stains and quickly. I hang clothes up in a particular way to dry to cut down on ironing.

Converse2000 · 08/06/2018 13:49

I literally have more important things to think about!

ALostCause · 08/06/2018 16:05

Currently it would having a washing machine that was working after going on strike this week!

Usually it would be having nice smelling washing with no stains as 6 year old DS is a messy sod who likes to roll around in mud in white school tops Hmm

strawberrylove · 08/06/2018 19:19

Most important thing about doing washing....getting someone else to do it? 🤪

On a serious note, fresh smelling clean sheets! Nothing better!

Theimpossiblegirl · 08/06/2018 19:42

I want to have minimal environmental impact, from choosing a machine that uses less electricity, detergents that are as natural as can be with recyclable packaging and drying outdoors or on airers rather than using a dryer.
I also want it to smell nice. :)

MrsLucas · 08/06/2018 19:58

Not irritating anyone's skin, not being heavily scented and getting things clean at low temperatures.

Muffinbutton · 08/06/2018 21:58

Gentle on my skin and smelling fresh

craftymum01 · 08/06/2018 22:53

I am allergic to soap powder (assume DS may be too) so it has to be kind to skin but still smell fresh.

SneakyGremlins · 09/06/2018 05:10

I have to use the strawberry and lily fabric softener because it smells like Calpol and I love the smell Blush

ifigoup · 09/06/2018 06:44

Smell is important, but in the sense that I like my clothes to smell of clean nothingness, as they do when they’ve been line-dried. I hate the smell of scented fabric conditioners etc.

yogeybear89 · 09/06/2018 08:14

For me; Don't overload washing machine, my washer is 6kg I put just over half in as I think if it overloaded, your clothes don't get a good enough wash.
Also to use antibacterial liquid when was on 30c or below with your detergent and fabric conditioner, stain remover sachets on whites and lights .

purplepandas · 09/06/2018 08:24

Stain free and clean.

c75kp0r · 09/06/2018 10:48

That the clothes are clean is pretty fundamental really. Mebbe you should have asked for our top three ....

UpOnDown · 09/06/2018 14:27

Definitely getting rid of BO smells.
