What are the most important aspects of laundry to you? Find out what Mumsnet users told Fairy Non Bio

NOW CLOSED

Laundry can be a surprisingly personal thing - whether you have a special way of hanging out your clothes or a foolproof way of getting your clothes to smell great. With this in mind, Fairy Non Bio would like to hear what you consider the most important when it comes to laundry, and what you’d love your laundry detergent to do.

Here’s what Fairy Non Bio has to say: “We have some people tell us that scent is the key to a great wash, others who won’t compromise of softness or those who are all about natural ingredients or the gentleness of the formula. We would love to know what you just cannot not go without?”

Do you focus on getting rid of any odour from your clothes? Perhaps it’s important to you that your laundry products are skin-friendly for the entire family? Maybe you put a lot of energy into keeping your clothes in great condition? Are you a lover of fabric conditioner, keen to ensure that your clothes are all super soft?

Whatever the most important aspect of laundry is to you, share this on the thread below to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

That our clothes are clean, stain free, and smelling fresh.

Blainalass · 11/06/2018 10:46
  1. Clean 2. Not faded 3. No smell/ nice smell

(a) spending the least amount of time doing it
(b) getting it all dry - a constant battle (apart from this last month which has been GLORIOUS)
(c) avoiding the brainless *** who burns stuff all the time

I save up the washing until i have a full load, not only because environmentally friendly it means the machine is on less and i have to peg out on amount of times - living here near Pendle Hill means you have to time the washing well to get that dry weather window (although this last month has had beautiful weather)! I love it to dry outside as all the dust, dead skin cells and other dusty stuff blows off it and the fabrics feel fresh and fluffy! Also the suns UV rays are actually antibacterial so if your machine is one of those that just heats up to temperature and then stops heating it your clothes are best out in that sunshine (unless some goon is burning stuff and we have a local pyromaniac here who burns every sodding week)!

For me it's all about the cleanliness - and the smell! We use non-bio for everything - not just our four month old's stuff - and with lots of time spent outdoors in a big city, as well as having a cat, we want to make sure the laundry detergent we use really does clean clothes, sheets and muslins as well as possible.

It needs to smell great, too - without a significant scent, it doesn't feel like things are properly clean!

Clean and a nice fresh smell with the minimum of fuss.

andywedge · 11/06/2018 11:40

Not putting that rogue white in with the colours

Yaracuy · 11/06/2018 11:51

Smell of fresh and clean, providing IT IS clean, of course.

WhiteKnuckleRide · 11/06/2018 11:53

Getting it dry quickly and smelling nice.

In the winter we have an airer indoors which can mean it takes up to 3 days to dry a load, so the washing pile inevitably builds up. In the summer it's great because I can get two or three loads dry outside on a nice day. I use a nice long-lasting fabric softener to keep clothes smelling nice when worn all day at school and work.

iut044 · 11/06/2018 12:10

That the clothes come out clean and smell nice .

gd2011 · 11/06/2018 12:10

Cleanliness is the most important. Not bothered about scent

lovemyflipflops · 11/06/2018 12:10

Yes, a nice fragrance is always nice to wear, and smell around the house, as long as it is not masking bacteria, so I still stick to washing all of my laundry in separate washes (underwear separate, towels and bedding on a 60 degree), I add a lidfull of antibacterial cleanser.

holey · 11/06/2018 12:11

I think for me it is probably how it smells. I love heavily scented liquid detergents and fabric softeners. I still regularly bring washing in from the line outside and insist the my DH or teenage DCs smell how gorgeous it is. They think I'm barmy!

Funkyferret · 11/06/2018 12:12

I want my laundry to smell fresh and clean but not with an over-powering perfumed scent. It's a fine balancing act!

Kellylee1988 · 11/06/2018 12:20

Clean and germ free

ninamotylinski · 11/06/2018 12:30

I want my washing to smell nice, even when I know it's clean if it doesn't have that fresh washing smell it doesn't feel clean to me!

Purplepeepers · 11/06/2018 12:35

The smell of cleanliness with no lingering stains

MSHGW · 11/06/2018 12:40

As long as everything smells nice and is clean I'm happy.

islePinklady · 11/06/2018 12:45

it has to smell clean not with an overpowering smell of fabric conditioner but the clean smell it gets from drying outside.

tallandlong · 11/06/2018 12:53

having it all done!!!! but really making sure nothing get mixed up, like a red sock in the whites.

Jemimafuckingpuddleduck · 11/06/2018 12:55

Having a family full of sensitive skin issues I’m always on the lookout for a washing product that doesn’t make us react.

We have tried them all over the years and definitely find the stronger smelling products cause more broken skin and itches, we stick to what we know and always try to dry on the line to be as natural and friendly to the planet as possibles.

maryandbuzz1 · 11/06/2018 13:08

Cleanliness has to be the most important for me but I love having them smell nice. Hanging a washing load out to dry in the fresh air always ensures it has a lovely smell along with the scent form the conditioner.

tabbaz123 · 11/06/2018 13:13

CLEAN is the most important but I do like a lovely scent - There is nothing quite like lovely scented sheets and clothes - a scent that lasts is important

glennamy · 11/06/2018 13:37

Fresh smelling and soft to touch

sallyhartley · 11/06/2018 13:39

I love the smell. Fairy fabric softener everyone. Can't beat it 🌞

APJ1 · 11/06/2018 13:41

The clothes being clean and free of nasty smells is the most important thing.
