Watch With Mumsnet, in association with Netflix, is back again this month – this time, with the critically-acclaimed series Breaking Bad, widely regarded as one of the most electrifying television shows ever to have come out of the US.

Breaking Bad follows Emmy award-winner Bryan Cranston as Walter White, a high school science teacher diagnosed with terminal lung cancer who, in order to support his family, teams up with a former student to manufacture and sell crystal meth. Millions tuned in to the epic finale last year; no surprise that Mumsnetters were among them.

Here’s what Mumsnetters had to say about Breaking Bad:

• "It's amazing - one of the most original dramas I've come across."

• "One of the best TV series ever … I loved it. The cast, the script, the acting...everything."

• "Now I've finished it, I realise it's almost as good as The Wire - so it's one of the best things I've ever watched on TV."

• "Just finished the last episode of Breaking Bad. It was intense. We've been watching at least one episode every night, sometimes three!"

With all five seasons available to watch on Netflix now, your viewing is sorted for the coming months (and, yes: we give you permission to binge-watch). Just come back to this thread and let us know what you think; everyone who joins the discussion will be entered into a competition to win an Xbox One console.

Note on spoilers: We want to hear your thoughts on everything, from plot twists to season finales and more - but if you’re talking anything that could reveal important plot details then please put Spoiler at the beginning of your post to warn others who may not have seen it.

Happy watching,
MNHQ

I lost a few weekends to Breaking Bad, it's such an addictive show.
With so many twists and turns that it keeps you on your toes.
I feel lost now that I've seen all 5 seasons!
SPOILER!!!
You know you're hooked when you start to seriously consider making bodies (even that poor boy) in acid as a perfectly reasonable course of action when faced with difficulties!

fluffyblueberry · 10/04/2014 00:16

I've finished it all - it's the best series I have ever watched in my life - such superb acting, brilliant script, so exciting. So many episodes have you on the edge of your seat, amazing suspense! What more can I do to praise this awesome slice of TV genius! It's a 10/10 from me!

ikkle87 · 10/04/2014 00:24

I've just started to watch it but I'm not quite sure I'm getting what all the hype is about?? My partner is enjoying it though so looks like I am in for the long haul.

becky004 · 10/04/2014 13:53

I put first episode on, watched 30 minutes, couldn't get into it at all. A fortnight later decided to give it another go as so many people were raving about it. So glad I did, was riveted and ended up watching the entire 5 series back to back, was devastated to learn there would be no more!

Omg - 3 episodes before the very end and dh is in walt's side and I am in Jesse's. AIBU to LTB? Grin

jaibaby · 11/04/2014 00:49

I started watching Breaking Bad on Netflix after my other half heard colleagues talking about it in work. To be honest, I wasn't that interested before, the talk of dealing drugs to help raise money puts across the wrong message. (I know it's only a tv show!)

But I got hooked, in one way it was nice what Walt was doing for his family. I preferred the character of Jesse, and really wished they would show "What happened next..." - the end gave watchers closure for Walt, but I don't feel it did for Jesse.

I had so many questions left - why did Walt do the things he did - at first I thought it was to help Jesse, somethings were still that I suppose (especially the Jane storyline), but towards the end - I feel Walt was being extremely selfish and had started to believe he was above it, like he was untouchable. Of course, that's proved wrong in the final episode, yet I still shed a little tear for him and wished it ended different.

All-in-all, it was a fantastic series to watch, and I have watched it over and over. I would love to see some kind of spin-off for any of the characters.

DP and I have watched two now. Love the interaction between Walter and the beanie sidekick. Episode two is still making us laugh!

mg6543 · 14/04/2014 13:07

Ok so for anyone wondering if they should watch this or have only seen the first episode. Please trust me...watch BREAKING BAD! When I saw the first two episodes I was wondering if all I was going to see is a man in his underpants but then suddenly (and I don't when or why) I just became addicted to it, but for all the right reasons. You feel for Walt, you get to love Jesse's character, the narrative is fantastic, each episode then opens up a whole new world of intrigue and you end up just having to see how this develops. I use to love 24 and thought nothing could beat that but have to say this wins! Enjoy as I will never get back that first viewing experience again!

burwellmum · 14/04/2014 18:00

I am somewhere in the second series, or possibly the third. I have honestly lost track. I, at least, have got so caught up that I just watch one episode after another when I'm on a roll. It is, well, quite addictive. What can I say. You just get caught up in the whole tale and somehow time has slipped by.

lionheart · 15/04/2014 08:15

On episode 3. Had no idea Walter could do that. Shock

I finished watching the final episode about a week ago. I loved it; it took me a couple of months to get through the whole series, watching an episode or two every night before bed, and now it's all over i'm gutted. I miss it; the routine of making myself a white choc hot chocolate and getting into bed to watch it. Then talking about it the next day to anyone that would listen. I must get myself a new boxset as, until i get into something else, I'm going to continue to feel at a bit of a loss and grieve for the drug-dealing murderers you couldn't help but love!!!

nitsaretheworst · 22/04/2014 10:28

Breaking bad is great Smile! Spoiler alert, it's one of the best TV shows out there. Sometimes it is a bit hardcore, and it is definitely one of those 'guilty secret' type of shows that you don't want to watch with the kids. The actors are amazing too, not a bad bug actor anywhere. One wed to sum it up would be 'brill'.

flapjack35 · 25/04/2014 22:34

The only reason I've watched this is to ogle Aaron Paul who plays Jesse!

Alchemist · 26/04/2014 07:13

Have felt so discontented since finishing BB so have decided to watch again!

It is just the best.

ToffeeWhirl · 26/04/2014 09:38

billy100 · 26/04/2014 13:55

I love Breaking Bad, it is one of the best programmes from the last few years :)

greentoad · 27/04/2014 08:50

I am ashamed to say that I am yet to start watching. Great reviews, not sure why i missed on it

slartybartfast · 27/04/2014 08:58

just started watching last night. pleasantly surprised . although watched two and a half episodes - went to bed in the middle of the third, but it was late is my excuse

slartybartfast · 27/04/2014 09:00

oh and dd 16 watched the first episode with us Blush but admitted she had already seen one episode Shock and found it boring. but she enjoyed it second time around,

Alchemist · 27/04/2014 21:25

Slarty One of the things which struck me was the absence of sex scenes. I don't mean I wanted more but the ones shown seemed, to me, to fit and I loved "Walt? Is that you?". Grin

The actor who played Jane is to me one of Walt's biggest enemies. I didn't like her character but she was brilliant.

Alchemist · 27/04/2014 21:27

Posted too soon!

I loved Jane's father. I don't know the name of the actor but I thought he was exceptional in an exceptional show.

slartybartfast · 28/04/2014 07:35

phew thanks Alchemist Grin

turns out that my other dd of 14 watched an episode Shock and that lots of her friends have been watching. oh dear.

JakeBullet · 28/04/2014 07:44

I started watching a few weeks ago and am now just starting on S3.

Fantastic series, brilliant acting by everyone....especially enjoying Don Salamanca at the moment....In his wheelchair with his bell. I love how he has not a single word to say but conveys so much. The mark of a good actor I guess.
As for Bryan Cranston. ..wow....getting more pitiable but scarier each episode in what he considers is acceptable as he cones to terms with his illness.

JakeBullet · 28/04/2014 07:47

Also like the fact that Mark Margolis (actor who portrayed Hector "Don" Salamanca) had his name used for the character of Jane's Dad ....Mark Margolis and Jane Margolis. Brilliant.
