Watch With Mumsnet, in association with Netflix, is back again this month – this time, with the critically-acclaimed series Breaking Bad, widely regarded as one of the most electrifying television shows ever to have come out of the US.

Breaking Bad follows Emmy award-winner Bryan Cranston as Walter White, a high school science teacher diagnosed with terminal lung cancer who, in order to support his family, teams up with a former student to manufacture and sell crystal meth. Millions tuned in to the epic finale last year; no surprise that Mumsnetters were among them.

Here’s what Mumsnetters had to say about Breaking Bad:

• "It's amazing - one of the most original dramas I've come across."

• "One of the best TV series ever … I loved it. The cast, the script, the acting...everything."

• "Now I've finished it, I realise it's almost as good as The Wire - so it's one of the best things I've ever watched on TV."

• "Just finished the last episode of Breaking Bad. It was intense. We've been watching at least one episode every night, sometimes three!"

With all five seasons available to watch on Netflix now, your viewing is sorted for the coming months (and, yes: we give you permission to binge-watch). Just come back to this thread and let us know what you think; everyone who joins the discussion will be entered into a competition to win an Xbox One console.

Note on spoilers: We want to hear your thoughts on everything, from plot twists to season finales and more - but if you’re talking anything that could reveal important plot details then please put Spoiler at the beginning of your post to warn others who may not have seen it.

Happy watching,
MNHQ

I think I was the only one at work that hadn't watched this, everyone was raving about it, I've now started watching this and am really into it but wouldn't rave about it, but then it is early days

pfcpompeysarah · 01/04/2014 21:13

I definitely think its the kind of programme that you have to stick with for a few episodes in order to get really hooked, a friend of mine told me to watch it and she said the same thing, she was right, it gets WAY better.

Breaking Bad is amazing. My partner used to watch it on his PC as he thought I might not like it (I hate blood and gore and am a fainter :) and I heard him laugh watching it one moment and then looked intense in the next second. I was so intrigued I really felt like I was missing out and started watching it. I am so glad I did it was an amazing story - periods of normal life one moment you think you are watching a soap opera and then bang something mad happens that you never dreamt would. The part when I knew I was going to like it is when he is in the petrol station with the idiot on the mobile phone :) and I really liked how they showed a normal man change so much under his circumstances. Brilliant story twists and turns every time I am so glad I watched it and will watch it again :)

I really love Walt's character. I can still see a little of Hal from Malcolm in the Middle but thats what makes Bryan Cranston more likeable

anonymousadam · 01/04/2014 21:24

I only started watching it a week ago and have already nearly finished the first series, gripping stuff!

danikagrace · 01/04/2014 21:33

Love love loved Breaking Bad, maybe got a little slow a couple of seasons in but fantastic overall. And WHAT and ending - we watch a lot of shows and are never normally happy with a season ending but this one was top notch!!

miljones1 · 01/04/2014 21:35

I am a Breaking Bad addict - I didn't know what to do at night after the series ended!!!

happysouls · 01/04/2014 21:45

I'm really looking forward to watching this at some point as I've heard great things! I don't watch TV, I don't have a licence! Instead I have lovefilm instant and I watch DVD boxsets. I tend to plot carefully what I want to watch and then indulge in binge viewing! So when I finally get hold of the boxset of all of this its going to be an epic!

stimpy1 · 01/04/2014 22:19

Just finished series, frankly don't know what to do with my evenings now. Absolutely loved it, watched at least one episode a night. Caused a few rows with hubby who watched the odd episode without me and said I could catch up another time (he still thinks I sit around drinking coffee watching tv all day!)

milliemoon · 01/04/2014 22:28

I watched episode after episode I enjoyed it so much. brilliant

pateci00 · 01/04/2014 22:52

Just started watching. Might grow on me but jury's still out.

Kazzywazzy · 01/04/2014 23:04

Started watching Breaking Bad after getting hooked on Game of Thrones and then having nothing to watch while waiting for the next series, friends said I would love it and they were so right watched 4 episodes on the first go and absolutely loved it, couldn't just watch 1 episode after that because I couldn't wait to know what happened next, my Friday nights became breaking bad nights as soon as Hubby and friends went out for a pint, I had Netflix on and got settled with cat on the sofa for a Breaking Bad session. It is one of the best series I have ever watched and as nothing else has come anywhere close to as good I think I will watch it all again :)

bringans · 02/04/2014 06:30

ToffeeWhirl I think that might be it, sorta like those movies everyone has said how amazing it is, you go in with such high expectations...maybe once the smoke has settled Ill try it again in a few years.

MrsPnut · 02/04/2014 06:47

We started watching breaking bad a few weeks ago, and are about 8 episodes in. We are really enjoying it and it's filling a hole left by some of our favourite shows finishing.

I like the way that chemistry can be used for anything, I wonder if there will be an increase in kids doing a level chemistry?

chrissybabe · 02/04/2014 08:35

I love the drama

ToffeeWhirl · 02/04/2014 08:38

If that's the case, this thread won't be helping you, bringans Grin. I have the same problem with books that everyone raves about - it always puts me right off.

Like someone else said upthread, I still feel as if the characters are living somewhere in America at this very moment and worry about how they're getting on these days.

stefthewise · 02/04/2014 09:13

I whizzed through season one of Breaking Bad. It was seriously addictive! Now I'm approaching the end of season two and still loving it :-D

adamcorner · 02/04/2014 09:39

Finished watching it a while ago and it hooked me and my girlfriend right from the start. I have to admit I do watch a lot of shows in a similar vane to Breaking Bad like The Shield and Sopranos but hands down this has been my favourite!

elho · 02/04/2014 11:17

This show is amazing - took a while to get into it, I found the first few episodes a little slow but after that you will be hooked

lastkisstoo · 02/04/2014 12:05

I am really struggling...due to lack of sleep! Can't stop watching this now I have started, what a brilliant series.
Never thought I would love any tv programme as much as Dexter, but I was wrong.

becks213 · 02/04/2014 12:40

I've just finished watching breaking bad, after being demanded to by my friends, seriously what am I going to watch now! It is so rare when you find a programme that totally gets your attention, and I was addicted! One of the best tv series ever!

manley10001 · 02/04/2014 12:58

I have just finished watching and I feel bereft. Incredible characterisations. Somehow I was rooting for this loathsome villain Walter. Very clever the way his actions are reasoned and justified.

Annoying how Holly the baby seemed disappear, who was looking after her while Skyler was at work etc.

SPOILER
Also disappointed that the rape was never mentioned again

amelia4levi · 02/04/2014 14:22

im depressed its over :-( i loved it so much!!! x
