Does anyone know how long UC take to verify the disabled child element?

Sammyjane26x · 25/03/2026 09:11

I'm on week 22 for Mr it's stupid how long this process part takes feels like forever hope they start Octobers Mr soon as we have been waiting such a long time

Libra33 · 25/03/2026 09:41

My MR is the 9th October and I’m still waiting, rang them up on Monday and they said it’s still in the queue to be allocated. MP got involved and DWP told them that I just need to wait it out unfortunately

Morning! How long did it take for your MP to get a response from the DWP please? I am 7th September and mine contacted the DWP for me yesterday x

Ive also done the same now, did they say why there such a delay? I’m a few days ahead but nothing happening so far.

I’ve seen a few October MR’s done so won’t be long I’m sure

Nope, I've rang a couple times over the past two weeks and just had a scripted response :/ MP did say there was no statutory limit on how long it can take but said it had to be something along the lines of reasonable timeframe

It took 3 weeks for DWP to contact the MP back, I hope you get your decision soon. Please keep me updated x

Same here. I’m now at 29 week and it’s very frustrating watching everyone else have a decision! I call and it’s like there’s a pause and then a scripted response. Wish they would just say this is what’s going atm so I don’t feel the need to call again! Best of luck!!

spaghettihoops91 · 25/03/2026 12:29

I'll keep you all updated! Also renewal SD was last Tuesday so there's that too haha

I did my change yesterday & she was verified this morning 💛

Jennag1987 · 25/03/2026 13:43

I have been waiting 6 months for my MR decision and i rang for an update today. Still in a queue! The guy advised that the evidence provided since I put in the MR probably wont be enough to outline the night time needs. I provided, IEP, school transition plans, my evidence over the phone at MR, SALT report, Family Targeted report and a well detailed report from our Social worker which was thorough around day and night time needs and risks. He said that I would need a medical professional/GP letter to discuss the night time needs however I haven’t been involved with a GP as we are still awaiting our paediatrician appointment which is still waiting to be picked up (7 months). Was anyone awarded HRC without GP involvement? Thanks.

Hi my daughter was awarded HRC & LRM last week, the evidence I sent of was a report from school regarding her severe anxiety & sensory issues , ASD/ADHD traits - they explained what occurred during school time. I sent in a 10 page statement from myself in depth her needs, night time needs I explained how many times she wakes during the night I explained she needs constant adult supervision to settle & re-settle , help with toilet needs during the night & everytime she wakes she requires adult intervention due to her severe anxiety (she pulls her hair out skin picks & has violent meltdowns I also explain in depth what her meltdowns consist of what she does and how long for and then how long it takes for her to calm down with adult intervention.
there looking for how many times children require supervision if it’s less than 20 minutes they each time they won’t award HRC it needs to be more than 20 mins for numerous times or a prolonged time during the night but if no constant supervision is required then they again won’t award HRC. I hope this helps 💛

Awarded HRC at 2 years old. Evidence submitted was ASC diagnosis report - it's all we had at the time

Hi guys a few people asking about UC & how long it takes I did my change on 24th March they verified my daughter this morning (25th March) I’ve just received a letter on my journal about backpay of disabled child element and funds will be in my account in 27th March

Mum21056 · 25/03/2026 17:30

My kids renewals were scanned in over a week ago but they are awarded till may I rang today to say I’ve a new care plan for my child which I want to send and she said send it because you won’t hear till may whether your award is continuing or not is it true you only find out the month of?

AugustLily · 25/03/2026 18:01

MR 15/09, renewal sent last week as claim due to end on 11/06, after being on hold for over an hour the lady I spoke to wasn't sure about anything. She was actually contradicting herself saying that the claim will go to different decision makers/ departments, then she said it will just go to one. I pointed the fact that the message said up to 25 weeks and she said that they don't give timeframes anymore for any claims. The lack of knowledge is shocking and the fact they are allowed to not give us any timeframes is even more shocking.

Kirstylou91 · 25/03/2026 20:25

Ladies I just want to give u hope that NC arnt taking as long as we all thought they were - positive post again SD 09/03 decision made on 20/03 - funds backdated in my account 24/03 - did my change for my daughter on UC 24/03 she was verified on the morning of 25/03 - received a letter on my journal in the afternoon of 25/03 stating backpayment & funds will be credited to my account on 27/03 - have faith this was super fast & last year my sons claim took 15 weeks from SD to decision I’m hearing nothing but fast decisions for NC this year. Gd luck to everyone I hope ur little ones get what they deserve 💛

Literally the exact same response to me, it’s so incredibly frustrating! I ended by basically saying ‘so there aren’t any established rules in this scenario’ and she was like ‘no’ ‘the outcomes for Mr and renewal will probably be the same’ 🤣🤣

I only found out by the posts on here then googled it and it’s true you can get it back dated but you have to request it.
if you get it i would try my luck and explain you didn't know, the worst they can do is say no xx
