My renewal date is 16/03, they received renewal forms 21/01 same date as you. I haven't heard nothing yet but did get a letter today saying they've got the forms which was dated 30/01

Hi All.
My sons MR SD was 04/08. I had a call today saying they are now looking at it and will call if they have any questions. They didn't ask if I had any more evidence to send in but said ill recieve a letter within 7-10 days with decision. Anyone know if this is a good sign? TIA x

I’m also waiting for the letter to say when and how much and asked the same question, someone replied saying they received the letter 3days later but I guess it could vary. They need to work out money for the last 19mths for my claim, might take quite a bit longer than say someone who is only waiting for 6mth back pay

Okay thats great, thank you for telling me xx

If you get awarded, you will recieve back pay next week so will be before the letter arrives. Call back on monday with the options 1-5-1-4 and they will be able to tell you the decision. Best of luck to you and your child! X

My renewal was received on the 22/12. My claim ends on 18th April.
I called on Friday and it's still in a holding queue 🙄
I think it's the luck of the draw sometime with DLA. Some people get a decision in 6 weeks for a new claim others wait 20+ weeks!
It's madness.
I have seen someone who's renewal was due onay 23rd have there decision made on Thursday!
It's just a waiting game 🥱x

Oh that’s mad isn’t it. Feels so nerve wrecking all over again. Don’t have much hope as didn’t have much new evidence this time round as it’s all still the same. But can only try.

I literally had 1 letter from my daughters consultant that was back in 2023! I only got her next appointment on the 4th February so haven't even got that letter to send as evidence as it can take up to 2 weeks for it to come they said... So I will have to wait until then to send it.. but if a decision has been made I may not have to.
The form was easier but still difficult to fill out 😭 I just hope they can understand that waiting times are absolutely crazy at the moment.
My daughter's consultant has put her on the neurodivergent pathway and it can take up to 136 weeks to be seen 😭 speech and language are also taking up to 28 weeks too.. x

Facebook posts, someone 28th July got declined their MR. Another from 1st Jan got their MR awarded

stacey0123 · 09/02/2026 10:15

Just rang DLA to ask for a financial hardship escalation, to be put to a decision maker asap. The lady said she couldn’t escalate but said she would pass me through to a department who could. Is this normal?
the guy in that department went through my reasons for needing a quicker decision, I explained our current rent exceeds our monthly benefit entitlement by £100, let alone taking food etc expenses into account. He was very nice and said he would need to have it authorised by his boss, as to if it can be prioritised or not. Is that normal?

Unicornmummy123 · 09/02/2026 10:30

It's so stressful! I called for an update as mines 28th July and it's been with the DM since the 4th. He said it can take up to two weeks so I'll hear anytime 😔 I constantly feel sick waiting for the outcome. It's been a year since his scan date

It took two weeks for my twins NCs, so it can take a while but hopefully they are looking at your MR properly and youll get a good outcome! Fingers crossed for you!

Its been nearly a year for us too! Our claim just didnt get looked at properly but have managed to send in tons more evidence. So hoping will be good outcome. The wait and anxiety it causes is a killer, i really do feel for you. Let me know your outcome, best of luck to you! X

This is making me anxious too, I'm 15th July to and not with a dm, called last week and was told because I have coc alongside this they will do both together so could take longer? Everytime I called im told to wait and not to call back there be intouch, I saw on fb mr from December and January 29th done and awarded 😕

3amazinkids · 09/02/2026 12:00

Who else was waiting to hear about back pay from UC? Have you received the letter in your journal yet saying how much and when?

Busymumxo · 09/02/2026 12:14

Can I ask, do they always contact the schools? Theirs only one teacher who fully understands my DD and her needs so gave details for that teacher, however this morning I have learnt that unfortunately said teacher has had an accident over the weekend and will be off sick for atleast 6 weeks 😫 so now panicking incase they need to speak with her and she's unavailable. I didn't get anyone to fill in the forms either about who else knows the child, I never with original claim as it was done during summer holidays, so I left it this time too (renewal) I do feel like I could give a little more evidence this time around though.

Im not sure, it may take longer with it been with your coc but some coc ive seen lately are getting done quicker so hopefully they pick up your coc and do your MR alongside it! X

Thankyou for letting me know, i didnt realise that with twins. Do you know why they seem to take longer. My eldest son has autism and he gets dla, his first claim took almost 18 weeks back in 2023 xx

I have no idea, but ive seen 2 other claims that were twins and they took 19 weeks just before mine and mine took roughly 25 weeks. All i got on the phone is that they have to ensure they both go to the decision maker together which really shouldnt make it any longer but it did. My oldest took 20 weeks in 2024 but most of the new claims since i started theirs in august have been around 10 weeks at most. And some getting done in 4.
I waited 24 weeks for my COC and im on 29 weeks nearly for my MR. I have 5 children all have disabilities but my third daughter isnt too bad and doesnt need a ton of help so wont apply for her xx

Thankyou so much for the info. Yeah i know a couple of people that applied last year for new claims and they both had decisions within 7 to 8 weeks. I didnt know they went to the same decision maker, fingers crossed doesnt take too long. My twins are 4, they will be 5 in september and just starting the process for an autism and adhd assessment. I wasnt too sure wether to even apply but been gathering info and realising they do need more care then other children their age. Is your MR for your twins xx

MrsBoo8888 · 10/02/2026 11:21

MR 28 July. With DM since the 4th 🙈 no update today
