Hi all, my children receive MRC and LRM, but it ends in October this year so will need to re-apply. Does anyone know how long the wait times are at the moment, and when is best to re-apply? Thanks

Edited

They will send you forms about 6 months before the claim ends.

Anyone where they are up to with renewals not seeing much on anything about renewals being awarded recently x

I'm waiting for my renewal.. scan date 22/12. My award ends 19th April... I've seen some people on other platforms claiming they only waited 3/4 weeks but then some have waited right up to there end date.. 🙄 it's just such a long waiting game!!

Gemini000 · 20/01/2026 17:38

MR .. currently at 25 weeks.. such a long wait

Kittenheaven23 · 20/01/2026 18:08

Just got a letter to say they are not changing my sons award hes on mrc lrm
Ive sent alot of evidence off a report from his Educational Psychologist to say they he needs a specialist school hes 15 but has a learning age of 5-7yr old it also states in his reports that he struggles with his emotions he has full blown meltdowns throws tables chairs hits peers hes broken his hand in school punching a wall and also proof from the teachers saying after a meltdown He doesn't remember what hes said or done he call the teachers liar and doesn’t believe them because he doesn't remember after a meltdown that hes done certain things and still hes on middle rate he he never gets a full nights sleep he needs supervision because he turns taps on also the gas on my cooker which he also does in school the teachers have noted hes held his feet over fires and says they calm him down and a cahms letter that evident this...its just so stressful...

did they tell you that?

PeaHen99 · 20/01/2026 20:35

@Kittenheaven23 sorry your son didn’t get an award increase. I’ve requested coc for similar reasons you’ve described, it’s exhausting when they are continuously dysregulated like that, and very hard to control when they are no longer little!
Do you mind me asking what evidence you sent? Specifically any sleep evidence or EHCP?
thanks

mamax3xx · 20/01/2026 21:06

Ive not really got any sleep evidence as such only screenshots from nhs app where I have taken my son to the GP on numerous occasions over the past few years asking for help for him he has just finished his adhd assessment just waiting on results for that but ive sent in cahms crisis letter as he got refered there as he was searching ways to kill himself on schools computer so hospital refered him I didn't send his ehcp as evidence as they pick and choose stuff to use against you but its noted in his EP reports that he has one his school reports to say he has to have a 1-1 support constantly hes only in a class of 6-12 pupils and he still cant handle that in his reports from school it mentions alot that he has poor sleep in cant think of what else ive sent what is your scan date for coc hope you get a better outcome did you have a lot of evidence xx

Judgejudysno1fan · 21/01/2026 07:23

Following until i get my scan date. Csnt bekeive we only got our first award for dc lifelong illness last June to renew again now. Crazy really.

Blujen · 21/01/2026 07:38

Anyone had any updates today?

PeaHen99 · 21/01/2026 08:49

@Kittenheaven23 thanks for sharing. Our scan date is 13/10
our situations sound very similar, DS is only in 2 hours a day (special school) and was recently diagnosed ADHD. I have a lot of evidence as we went to SEN tribunal last year but how do you prove the sleep problems 🤷‍♀️
DS has problems with early waking (4-5:30) and once he’s up he needs all the same care he does during the day - constant supervision due to extreme dysregulation that can cause harm/damage if I don’t intervene early enough.
The early wakings (still night in most people’s opinion) are mentioned in the ADHD report and a psychiatrist letter, but as it can’t be treated with melatonin or anything I can’t really prove it.
I do make a note of all the early wakings, so may convert into a sleep diary and send it off. Not feeling super optimistic though.
Are you going to request MR? Did they at least extend your renewal date? X

This is crazy, no wonder everyone has such a long wait!

Princessmom222 · 21/01/2026 10:18

22 weeks today for NCs. Been messed about so much, still no decision made and been told that it is in fact with a decision maker. It seems like its taking forever now! And so fed up of the whole process.

@PeaHen99
Yes im going to do a MR because I truly believe my son should be on HRC and mine wasn't a renewal his award ends 2027 but hes 16 in August so im sure i will have to transfer over to pip for him very soon im not sure how it works but yeah hopefully he will get his adhd results v.soon and im hoping he will be prescribed melatonin im also waiting for an autism assessment but not holding my breath for that because hes not been on the waiting list that long ive been waiting since he was 11 for his adhd assessments why cant you get melatonin prescribed for DS if he has been diagnosed xx

Clareabelle24 · 21/01/2026 10:26

Finally after 30 weeks I’ve had my phone call. She said they’d send a letter out but I explained we’re in a rural area so haven’t had post since 2 weeks before Christmas but I’d requested a text and she said she’d just ring me instead. Fingers crossed. I feel sick 😬

Lonnie1423 · 21/01/2026 11:32

@Clareabelle24 good luck
