My eldest never had dealing with her senco at school and I never even met her/him
She also never had any extra help at primary school and the only help she had in secondary was to sit her gcses in a separate room shes just 16 and been getting dla since she was 9 and just swapped to pip

what I was trying to get at they only send a tick box form to the school so if people are applying and thier child don't get help at school the school can't fill the questionnaire out without ticking the no boxes but if people could get the school to write something then that tick box questionnaire doesn't get sent to school, claims ain't declined on schools input but they are influenced by what school say

Scan date was 20/3. Received my back payment this morning! Guessing it was middle rate care, low rate mobility. Hoping you all get the result La you need soon. I could have cried 💙

Congratulations!!

i agree, I think most of my evidence is based from the pre school as it was the pre school that agreed with the things I was worried about. I’m hoping what the senco wrote in that section will be enough. But we shall see just little worried they might want extra info but she has leaves tomorrow x

I have a renewal due September and I rang up see if they had my evidence i sent and i asked what would happen if they couldn't get intouch with school and man said they won't get intouch with school and told me what I just wrote above and also said they don't get intouch during school holidays as they no schools are closed and won't wait 6 weeks or longer for school to reply so won't hold any claim up they make a decision based on what they have.. hope your awared soon x

Emssxo · 17/07/2024 17:48

Can parents/carers on Facebook please update on here as much as possible for people like me who don't use the platform? It sounds like more information gets posted on their regularly x

Thank you, I think I did what you said in your post 😌. So hopefully that and the assessment from speech and language and hv helps. X

Hopefully will push your claim along having evidence from school, also they don't get intouch with schools during 6 weeks holidays and they award/decline claim without waiting for reply from school during the 6 weeks so hopefully will be able to get through more claims during this time. Good luck xx

My son attends a private nursery which is open when schools and school nurserys are off . Hopefully iff they contact them its this week iff they dont contact settings during summer hols🤞🏻
but i think i sent enough evidence to back up what i was saying in the claim so hopefully my boy gets awarded 🤞🏻xx

Aww thank you when i seen the post on fb i thought of you in hopes that mine and your decisions wont be much longer 🤞🏻and i had to keep everyone on here who dont have fb updated as this thread has also helped me keep sane also .

my fingers are crossed for you that you here soon 🤞🏻

HOPE THIS HELPS MANY
Dla will send a form to the school as it is virtually unheard of that they don't and that's where your problems will lie as the form is a tick box one that basically questions what support your child needs in school that is over and above that given to their peers.
If your child don't get any support in school
the SENCo will be unable to tick the box detailing that they have an EHCP/ statement of SEN or an IEP then it is likely that the DWP will consider the child to have no additional needs as he has no extra support in school.
For this reason I would ask the SENCo to fill in the part on the form that asks you to give details of someone who knows the child and their needs. Doing that will stop the need for the tick box form and will allow the SENCo to detail any difficulties such as challenging behaviour/ need for warning and preparation for change/ need for small group work/ social skills support etc.

How does that work out the child is masking? Although they may be aware the child is masking they may not need extra help at school and that's where the problems start at home. It's well known girls can function at school and then release when they are out of school?

Masking is actually defined in the decision makers guide if you check online. As long as you wrote they mask, I wouldn’t worry to much about it!

I'm unsure it was just what I was told on phone so thought I would share it on here to help it out.. although you don't get declined based just on school so I would of guessed if you wrote child masks in your forms then obviously they take that into consideration

Does anyone know if Dla send out forms for the mobility side of it before your child’s 5th birthday or if I will need to call for them? And roughly how many weeks before there birthday this needs to be?

Billie87 · 17/07/2024 20:50

Thank you @Mamof2devils and @zoeybrooks45 🙂

Garfield456 · 17/07/2024 21:07

@TheSnappyTurtle i heard back that everything has been verified today/yesterday and that we qualify for back pay however the person that verified told me someone else now has to issue payment and theres no time scale on how long that takes. ( it has been over 3 weeks now since i got in touch). Thank you il do the complaint if it is much longer.

SB1994 · 18/07/2024 06:36

I've woken up to a back payment from universal credit however it is only the carers element. I wrote on my journal yesterday telling my work coach that only the carers element had been added to my previous adjusted statements and she said she would contact the DM on why this is and would get back to me. Does anyone know if they've already paid this back payment will they send another back payment for the missing disabled child element?

They should sent out 6 months before, but that’s not the case as others have mentioned. I would keep a tab on and send it over yourself 6 months before the 5th birthday.

my son is 5 in november and they send out the forms last week i got awarded end of june hrc no mobility as he isnt 5 just to let you know its the whole form again you have to fill out for it and you get a letter with the pack saying basically when they look at it again they could either lower your claim make it higher or stop it all together, sends you into panic mode 😫 thinking all the hard work we have done to get awarded now for them
