@Emssxo Oh no!! that's good thing! You've actually reassured me so thanks for that. Maybe it's just a bit of a wait :) x

Emssxo · 17/07/2024 11:51

I’m 15 weeks on Friday I’ve received 2 letters one to say it was received and another in may saying they are still looking into it, believe me there are others waiting longer than me so definitely a long wait! Good luck to you!

Laur123567 · 17/07/2024 12:10

Hello I called this morning and she just said a decision hasn’t been made yet when I called last week was told it was in a holding que, so does that mean it’s now with a decision maker I should of asked but silly Brain don’t seem to work when I need it to lol

Emssxo · 17/07/2024 12:14

not really sure most people like myself are too nervous to ring. What was your scan date ?

Laur123567 · 17/07/2024 12:16

Don’t be nervous to ring hun, definitely can be daunting when your waiting so long and to be told the same type of information, my daughters scan date is 27/03

Emssxo · 17/07/2024 12:20

Definitely feels worse waiting now I’m on 15 weeks. Scan date 05/04. Most people say they are rude over the phone, fob people off, say different things etc and I just worry calling jeopardises things. Wow long wait for you! I hope your daughter gets awarded very very soon!

GemzZ92 · 16/07/2024 15:56

Been lurking for a while SD 22/3.. summer term now and she is moving nursery so no idea how that will affect the outcome 🤗

It shouldn't affect the outcome, i don't understand why they get intouch with schools when care is about what you do for them not how school deal with them.

Dla will send a form to the school as it is virtually unheard of that they don't and that's where your problems will lie as the form is a tick box one that basically questions what support your child needs in school that is over and above that given to their peers.
If your child don't get any support in school
the SENCo will be unable to tick the box detailing that they have an EHCP/ statement of SEN or an IEP then it is likely that the DWP will consider the child to have no additional needs as he has no extra support in school.
For this reason I would ask the SENCo to fill in the part on the form that asks you to give details of someone who knows the child and their needs. Doing that will stop the need for the tick box form and will allow the SENCo to detail any difficulties such as challenging behaviour/ need for warning and preparation for change/ need for small group work/ social skills support etc.

My little boy has a EHCP in place at his school, he has support plans etc and on the page you're referring to about someone who knows and sees him everyday was filled in by his deputy headteacher who is in charge of senco at his school. Does this mean they will still chase down the school if she has already filled in this part for me describing his extra needs compared to other children his age etc?

Shannon1995x · 17/07/2024 16:23

Hi I just had two missed calls about an hour ago but I’ve tried ringing back and their systems are down does anyone have an idea what they were ringing about scan date 20/3

They shouldn't need to no if anyone from school as wrote in the who nos them bit or even if school don't write in who nos the child bit and you get a supporting letter from someone at school explaining child's needs they have no reason to contact school

Just too keep those who dont have ffb updated , ive just Seen more awarded on fb page around the dates 20/3 to 28/3 . But also have seen one awarded today with SD of 02/04

my SD is 02/04 - so gives me bit of hope that i may hear soon but i know thats wishful thinking

i agree, I think most of my evidence is based from the pre school as it was the pre school that agreed with the things I was worried about. I’m hoping what the senco wrote in that section will be enough. But we shall see just little worried they might want extra info but she has leaves tomorrow x

The minute I read 2/04 I thought of you then I realised it was you posting this and got so much joy just then! Let's hope you're close! I'm only a few days off hours and this is getting unbearable now. Talking on here with all you lovely ladies is what is keeping me sane right now.

hoping the contact the nursery and speek to the manager who is also the SENCO as she is amazing and will explain everything about my child and his needs in great detail

Holliebondd · 17/07/2024 17:16

Scan date was 20/3. Received my back payment this morning! Guessing it was middle rate care, low rate mobility. Hoping you all get the result La you need soon. I could have cried 💙

Mumoffourlovelies · 17/07/2024 17:30

It seems like a lot of people aren't actually getting texts doesn't it? I've read loads more people who have found out by back pay or calling than a text it seems?

My eldest never had dealing with her senco at school and I never even met her/him
She also never had any extra help at primary school and the only help she had in secondary was to sit her gcses in a separate room shes just 16 and been getting dla since she was 9 and just swapped to pip

Hopefully will push your claim along having evidence from school, also they don't get intouch with schools during 6 weeks holidays and they award/decline claim without waiting for reply from school during the 6 weeks so hopefully will be able to get through more claims during this time. Good luck xx
