@Summermightbegreat completely understand. i recently moved and asked DLA the same thing, im in exact same position as you. unfortunately it didn't make me a priority. x

Thanks lovely, good to know. I don't know of I would feel comfortable asking to be a priority anyway, as it would mean someone who applied before me would have to wait longer.

@zoeybrooks45 oh thanks for that about the council. I don't know if I'd have any evidence for the grant though, as don't have a diagnosis for DD (so hard to get because school try to make the child look as fine as possible to avoid support....even though she's clearly autistic and possible ADHD) and not awarded any DLA yet...I'm in a holding place at the moment for accessing anything we need. As we all are I know, it is frustrating.

Just in the process of applying for our daughter. She has a rare genetic condition, been advised to apply by medical staff who support us. Joining to wait with others who will be at a similar stage to us

Hi, new here. Has anyone actually heard anything within the 15 weeks that they promise? My scan date is the 30/04 and I thought I was nearly at the end of waiting but after seeing this I’m assuming that we won’t be hearing anything until at least the end of the month?!

The average wait time is between 16-18 weeks. It’s all an estimate. According to recent awards we are currently between the first two weeks of April. However, some DM are faster than others which is why older dates may be awarded first. If you call up and ask whether it is with decision maker then add around week from there for outcome. Sometimes they send a text, however sometimes you will know you’re awarded something either through backpay or calling up. Hope that helps.

Anyone have experience of them changing the rates at renewal. We had to go to MR last year and ended up with LRM and HRC. I wrote in the notes that there had been no changes apart from some new medical appointments which I added with our paperwork. I did not bother sending her original dx paperwork as assumed they had all that from last year on file so only sent updated information.

I'm just worried our rates will change as it seems so arbitrary on decisions making.

Ruelzdontapply · 10/08/2024 13:47

Scan date 24th June new claim for ds.

I know I've not been waiting long and have a long wait ahead.
When I've done DLA claims before everything has been sorted within a month.

SendProsecco · 10/08/2024 14:12

update on our MR , we went to urgent on monday, today i had letters saying they have refused Thomas anything and stand by the no... they didn't bother reading the extra reports i feel from the paeds or salt otherwise they would of not said the reasons are 'his needs are the same as a regular 2-3 year old. ' every reason says this for each section apart from mobility which says he is under 3 for higher rate and under 5 for low rate but also then says his needs are the same as a regular 2-3 year old.

no idea how appeals work but looks like thats the next step... my concern is they wanted the original reports and didnt send them back, if i appeal will everything they hold be used that i have already sent them ? the only other thing i think i can add is a diary of his day/night but i covered that in my letter and on forms and its on the report for paeds they have too . i feel like they looked at his birthday and decided he is under 3 so wont award.

SendProsecco · 10/08/2024 17:09

just spent the last 3 hrs online filling out the appeal bullet pointing each comments with replies in super details, and with detailed comparisons to Thomas and a non disability child the same age .. now i wait for dwp to respond and get link via email it said.... has anyone else been through this process ? how long does this take normally or is it still 15-20 weeks again ?

Are you arguing care component or trying to apply for motability? x

My scan date is 19/4 was told on Monday could be expected to wait until 6th September. But was also told 1 week ago it was with case manager should be done in 2 weeks 🤣 can't believe anything they say lol. My advice give it 20 weeks then give them.a call if you haven't heard anything.

They declined everything so awarded nothing on original and on MR even after press and SALT reports stated how delayed and complicated his needs are for his age and compared to what’s expected for his age at the time they saw him for assessment.

Paeds not press , silly iPhone

HangryLimeBeaker · 10/08/2024 21:29

@SendProsecco Oh right. Sorry just wanted to get better context. Yes I'd probably go for a tribunal lovely. If your child's seeing SALT & Paeds then there must obviously be something going on? Have you got a diagnosis and/or been put on a pathway for one? Is it just speech delay? DLA at this age is just for care component and support with extra needs your child has. I would definitely take it to tribunal x

I’m sorry you got declined did you explain into great detail care needs not just the struggles your little one has but how much it affects you and how much extra time each care need takes, it’s based on how much care you have to give it’s a very difficult form to fill in, don’t stop fighting please visit citizens advice for help x

Thomas is on the pathway for non verbal ( no clear words with any meaning at 2 n half years old ) with limited communication and limited comprehension autism he also has picca. He is under paeds, SALT , EYIT and has a section 23 with the council for when he starts reception in the future. At this stage I expected at least LRC or MRC and No Mobility due to his age … but to get absolutely nothing is mind blowing especially when I’ve seen people with similar age children and less care needs get MRC and HRC. Great for them but makes no sense to me how this was decided.

Hi yes heaps of details and examples and a comparison to a child the same age without the difficulties that Thomas has and how it affects not only me and my own health conditions but his brothers too who is also special needs on a different path . With all that and the evidence I’m shocked at a 0 award. I have already spent 3 hrs online filling out an application for appeal.

HangryLimeBeaker · 11/08/2024 00:32

@SendProsecco Sounds like you had a bad DM. go through tribunal and fight for it xx
