Hi,

Does anyone know if universal credit back date the child disability element from when you first called dla for the claim form (which dla too will back date) or does uc child disability element start from the date dla make the award?

Thank you

I still haven't been over 3 weeks! But they said by the 12th April! So if I haven't heard I will make a complaint

Misste · 03/04/2024 11:08

@Samgib90 it's horrible isn't it. I would just rather know, yes we'll backdate or no we won't... then I wouldn't mind the wait!! Thought it was bad waiting on a decision from DLA, now another dreaded wait on uc.
Hope you hear something soon x

Fudgie9922 · 03/04/2024 11:32

I reported mine 13/03 with dm in uc I chased but like the others they said no strict time scale but I had it both elements on my new UC statement so do I chase again,?

You could always just pop a message on your journal and ask them what's happening, it's stupid how they can give you the extra in your monthly payment but can't update you on the backdated payment! You'd think they would wanna sort that out first for people but they have no systems in place really! You could even call them & ask for some kind of update too! X

I've left a message on my journal asking if there is any update, why does it take so long? Surely they are aware the dwp is taking 20 weeks + to give the applicant a decision so why is universal credit not just passing these though? Its not like I could of updated them before. 😔

Misste · 03/04/2024 12:41

@Fudgie9922 I totally agree, it should be done within 5 working days! I reckon they want people to forget or give up before handing any money out! Disgrace really. I'll be messaging again next week, it didn't take this long for my daughters claim and that was in October 23 x

CoolLimeSheep · 03/04/2024 16:20

Hi I reported mine on 11th and so did my friend she has received a decision but I still haven't. my statement is due next week aswell. I am so frustrated

KatexCR · 03/04/2024 23:17

@misste @Fudgie9922 hey I think I remember you dla wait times part 999999 🤣🤣.
I updated my UC on 27th March, the day I found out my daughter was awarded, I wrote in my journal that both will need back dating as per the date stated. Not heard a thing, no acknowledgement or anything.
Feel like all of 2024 so far I have waited on hold 🤦‍♀️🤣. Its really frustrating!
I'm still awaiting a decision from December 2023 about back pay for my baby being added on to my uc claim!!! It's ridiculous!! X

Hi! Glad to hear your daughter has been awarded, welcome to the next fight with UC 🤣 so if I were you, I'd be messaging on your journal until they reply, that's what I had to do & someone did reply after about the 5th message!! It's ridiculous how behind benefits really are these days but then again I suppose there's a lot more people getting them or waiting to get them. She told me it can take up to 4 weeks but that 4 weeks takes me to my cut off date for my next uc payment so in one way I think they have until your next payment period.... but, not 100% on that. Just wish it would hurry up x

Hey nice to see you again unfortunately on another wait, yeah I have to put like 4 messages on my journal before they reply ..... if I don't hear by Friday I'm going to ring them up and ask about the complaint procedure .. I bet they will move them selves, I did that before I asked to speak to a manager to log a complaint my issue was resolved there and then ir was about my partners looking for work interview he kindly informed them 6 times he was working they then did a phone conversation and then not heard a thing since like honestly they can be asses sometimes

I've left about 5 already 🤣. Think I'll leave another today and see if I get a reply 🤣. I've already got a payment pending for this month and there's been nothing added to it so that will take me to 7th May for my next payment.
Just as annoying as DLA, some people get awarded quickly and others have to fight for it, it's stupid. X
@Fudgie9922 oh my god that happened to me when I applied for UC!! I applied and told them I had a job and has had that job for 12 years but didn't realise I could actually have help as well. They started inviting me in for job search interviews!! I was ermm...I can't because 8m actually on duty that day? She said om the phone "oh you're in work?" I said "yes and have been for 12 years" then I got "oh sorry ill take you off then" I still got invited about 3 more times after that 🤦‍♀️ idiots! X

Fudgie9922 · 04/04/2024 10:57

@KatexCR I know nightmare but they are the first to want thier money back immediately if they made the mistake of overpaying you. Seriously a joke I got my child disability and carers element on my statement for the new period so why can't they just add it on to the previous 3 months they are annoying me today i think that's mostly the kids though 🤣🤣🤣

🤣 I'm getting annoyed with mine as well 🤣🤣 hate the school holidays, don't get a minutes peace lol.
I know it's so annoying!! I've left a message asking for the complaints contact and procedure and explained why I am complaining. I'll give them till 9am tomorrow morning and then someone is going to see my hairy side 🤣🤣 x

Misste · 04/04/2024 13:33

@KatexCR have the replied to you since you've asked for the complaints stuff? X

Misste · 04/04/2024 14:10

I've just put another message on asking if there's any news yet on the backdated payment decision 🤣 I always feel so cheeky asking but really though, my son has been awarded DLA so why shouldn't I ask x

Fudgie9922 · 04/04/2024 14:17

😫 that gives me no hope then! Aww I'm so sorry this is happening, it's such an awful long wait. Maybe you should put some kind of complaint in? What a joke x

So I got a message an hour ago to say a payment will be made next week for this current award period (march) but that a decision has not been made on the back payment and there is no timescale for when that'll be.
Can't believe we have to wait again and again 😢 x

Misste · 04/04/2024 17:38

@KatexCR it's absolutely shit that!! When my daughter was awarded in October I didn't wait very long... what a fuck on!! X

Hey 👋

I'd give them a ring or leave a note on journal about making a complaint. I got a reply within a few hours after posting something on my journal.
Hope this helps 🙏
X

Razz50 · 05/04/2024 03:42

Some of you may already know but this could help people who don't (I didnt) there is also a carers element of £185.86 which can be backdated
I have added that to my claim today, I had my universal credit for the month yesterday (the 5th) so hopefully by the time next month comes this will be added
Hope everyone hears back soon it is so frustrating waiting months for DLA and then waiting for this on top especially when we need this money to provide a better quality of life for our children!

Justanotherboymum89 · 05/04/2024 11:41

6 weeks yesterday I reported my son receiving HRC, and these are the responses I’ve had so far. We were awarded DLA from 13/09/2023 on 21/02/2024. I’ve just done the complaints thing that someone posted in this thread. Seems like they’re purposely dragging their heels
