Child disability element universal credit

Hi,

Does anyone know if universal credit back date the child disability element from when you first called dla for the claim form (which dla too will back date) or does uc child disability element start from the date dla make the award?

I’m still waiting and dm approved back pay on the 28th of November and still heard nothing x

Two weeks once I reported the change, it was pretty quick to be fair nothing like the dla over 5 months

Desichion maker has came back with saying they agree to the back dating but no clue as to when ill get any payment it's on on my journey on payments just a letter saying yes to the day dla was awarded anyone else knoe how long

They send separate journal letter an mine was in my account to within two days after having the journal.

A separate letter saying how much back pay?x

Mine took 2 weeks from dm approving it only just received the back pay and they approved it 28th hope this helps ! X

Anyone know how long after the decision maker approving and been sent the letter on your journal do you get a payment? I got a decision and letter on the 22nd December and heard nothing since.

It is how long is a piece of string, unfortunately.

I asked for disability element and carers element to be added to my uc back dated to 10/10/2023 when my dla claim is from. I asked uc on 26th feb and had message in journal today Sayin they agree to do that but doesn’t say how much or when? Anyone else had this?

@Dollysmum37 @Klaczus hi just wondering if you have heard anything I reported change on 22/02/24 had note in journal on 28/02 saying verification had been completed and would be passed to decision maker for back pay not heard anything since. I’ve seen people get a letter on there journal saying decision maker has decided special circumstances apply for late reporting but I’ve not had this yet. Then a separate letter with dates. Just hoping it’s not as long await as DLA process x

I've received an letter saying they agree to backpay under special circumstances. Letter added to my journal on 6th March.

Now I'm awaiting second letter which will say the exact amount and when to expect the backpay, so far haven't heard yet x

Oh, and I've reported my changes on 10th February, if that's any help x

I reported changed 26th, decision letter 1st on my journal and money in the bank on the 6th so was all really quick x

26th February or January? Xx

All done in February, I got dla awarded 26th feb x

That's brilliant, so quick! I reported my change on Friday 8th so hopefully get a letter added by the end of this week, fingers crossed lol

Just to update for anyone going through this I received the below message today

"The team have up till the 22nd of March to complete the work.
If it is not completed by then we can send an escalation to ensure it is completed before the end of your assessment period"

So it seems they have 2 weeks from you reporting it to get the work done

@Razz50 Thank you for the update I will be 2 week today since they sent to decision maker (3 week since initially reporting & writing on my journal) so hopefully get the first letter today then do you mind me asking what area your from am Derbyshire be my luck different areas have different rules x

Hello. I requested a backdate for the disability element and care element on the 12th Feb. I recieved a decision letter on my journal yesterday (12th Mar) stating approval for both to be backdated. I replied asking what happens next and got no reply. I rang uc this morning and he said once its been approved the case worker then has to work out manually how much is owed and there is no timescale for this.
I can see everyone seems to have different timescales on the decision letter and the backdate payment.
Is anyone roughly the same timescale as me and heard anything regarding payment?

I asked regarding timescales as not had any letters yet image was response back. So it’s a another wait for me… Wish the system had some sort of continuity some done really quickly others takes months I will be one of the ones which take forever Sod’s law lol x

I had my letter of approval on my journal yesterday. Nothing else about a date/how much etc. Is there no set timescale at all for this? It seems to vary massively! I’m expecting a long wait haha x
