Child disability element universal credit

Hi,

Does anyone know if universal credit back date the child disability element from when you first called dla for the claim form (which dla too will back date) or does uc child disability element start from the date dla make the award?

The disabled child/severely disabled child element will be backdated to the start of the DLA award (so if you called and returned the form on time it will be the date you called), not the date DLA make the decision.

I apply for the disability element for my child she was awarded hrc and let them know I wanted it backdated. Looked on.my uc statement today and they have reduced my child element. Has anyone else had this xx

Adding the severely disabled child element (£456.89) shouldn’t reduce the child element (£315.00 if first child born before 6/4/17 or £269.58 if first child born on/after 6/4/17 or second (or subsequent child if eligible) child).

Thank you am waiting on reply back from uc. They reduced it by 65 I claim for 2 young children . And I put the change in on the 3rd July my statement was due today so was within assessment period can take.koney from me but not put on the disabled element.lol. and my work coach said there is no disabled element and I already claim for two child xx

Won't give me any backpay
has when I called them they told me I had to do change on my uc which I went through on the phone with them. They told me I had to put in dated award which I did, so now don't have to back pay to march coz apparently that was the date I should of put in if I want backpack. Very sly ppl. And they msg back straight away

@Sharmc69 persist and escalate the matter. You should have put the date the DLA award began, but if you didn’t understand that, it doesn’t have to be a barrier to the disabled child element being backdated.

Got a response saying they will back date to 02,02,23 and that was 10 days ago , and again 6 messages and 4 phone calls and no response again to find out when I will actually receive the back pay 😒

4 weeks then a further 2 weeks after said yes and had to ring and complain for them to calculate the amount 2 weeks after decision xx @unicornwonders

@nic00000 thank you, did you chase much for the decision or did you just leave it? my case manager said she would chase it but still yet to hear anything x

i had to chase a lot just for a decision to be made and then chased and chased for the amount to be calculated! hopefully yours will be straight forward .

decision made 1 day before the 4 weeks mark and there’s no time limit for them to calculate amount either xx

Hi 👋 I received my letter yesterday about the confirmation of DLA for my son, I’m currently on universal credit, can someone help with what I need to change on my claim and which changes it would fall under? He gets middle rate care only, thanks!

can someone help me so I have requested backpay from universal credit I applied for dla in may and got awarded in October so I have requested backpay from universal credit will the backpay be for child element and the care element

Has anybody received this back payment? I wasn’t told I needed to inform uc for my sons dla. He is awarded high rate care dla. I told uc 10 days ago and keep chasing but nobody is getting back to me. I’m due back pay from February

hey I waited about 2 weeks and they did back pay me from the day I was awarded was about 5 months back pay

Me too did this yesterday but the lady didn't tell me about the child but and agent did that today now a long wait again I guess

Was it two weeks from when they said you would be paid from the date of the change? They’ve sent me a letter today so hopefully it’s soon
