Child disability element universal credit

Hi,

Does anyone know if universal credit back date the child disability element from when you first called dla for the claim form (which dla too will back date) or does uc child disability element start from the date dla make the award?

It’s been about 10 days and I’ve still not heard from the decision makers 😩

its been 5 weeks for me since they said they would back pay. I’ve game them a call today and the lady on the phone said she will out a bite in the system to the person calculating it all, and advised me to put a not on my journal to the payments team. Everything is so long winded

Oh god yea mine was sent off and I had notifications that they agreed to back date it I think in about 8 days? So fingers crossed it’s not much longer for an answer but the waiting in between everything is so long!

Oh for goodness sake. No not a word. It will be 1 weeks ago tomorrow that it was referred to a decision maker x

I feel like if I owed them they would be straight on it! Oooh fingers crossed you’ll here some thing mine was 5 days from it going to a decision maker so hopefully it won’t be long!

Absolutely nothing my end either still not got a reply to my journal and I’ve called up to check and who ever is on the call send messages through but that don’t seem to work either xx

Oh no. There must be a massive backlog. I get that it takes a while to calculate everything etc, but I don’t know why it takes so long to say yes or no. I know I told them late that I’m a carer, but I didn’t know about the carers element. I just didn’t see the point in claiming carers allowance as it gets taken £ for £ from universal credit.

yea there must be with the waiting times, I didn’t see the point in the carer element but something about national insurance is paid not 100% sure

Hi I've just been reading through your case about UC owing you 16 months child disability element as you never knew about this ime in the same situation I can't see how your case ended did you get your back pay from the start of your child's award just wondering what the chances are of receiving back pay as it's 16 months worth they owe ? Please can someone help

Yes I’m being back paid from the start of the DLA award. Change your circumstances to being a carer then ask them to back date the carers element.
