Child disability element universal credit

Hi,

Does anyone know if universal credit back date the child disability element from when you first called dla for the claim form (which dla too will back date) or does uc child disability element start from the date dla make the award?

It's just to confirm the change to my claim. I'll probably have to wait on a letter about backdating.

Just looked again. One is for getting the child disability payment and one is for a change in household. One says 13th April and one is 26th April.

Yeah ur going to be waiting a while for the backdate you need to ask them to send it to a decision maker they won’t just do it off there own back x

I've already asked for it to be backdated. I'll put another message on my journal though. Although I'm probably better waiting till Monday now.

My letter of the decision maker has finally went on today nearly 7 week from making the change

I got a message today to say it’s been passed to a Decision maker and they have until 6pm on the 23rd to respond with an update so hopefully not too long now

My decision maker had till 19th to decide and today I had to chase them as still had no word from them or my case manager! So annoying

Evening all,

My daughter was awarded DLA on 29th April and I informed UC that same day. The Disabled Child element was in the next UC payment by May 7th. I requested a back payment on 29.04 and my work coach said he’d need it to be verified first.

I messaged again on May 9th for an update and he confirmed it had gone to a Decision Maker. I had a message last Friday to say that the DM has until June 4th to make their decision or UC will escalate it.

Such a frustrating process!

I got a phone call today after making a complaint last week, I just got an apology for how long it’s taken and been told it’s been sent to decision maker today and they have 48 hours to get back to me and the person that called said they will keep hold of my case until I get the update and they will get the payment straight to me once I get the award. What a difference since I made a complaint that was 4 weeks today since I made the change

Yeah I'm getting the disability payment and carers payment in my next uc. Will need to pop a message on for them to backdate it.

I have just received a letter on my journal to say they accept my reasons for informing late and my statements will be adjusted. How long does that usually take?

You now need to message your case manager to sort it out they don’t get the message just you

yeah I have done as I called up and they said on the phone that means the decision maker is still looking at it. I really don’t think they had read it properly 😂 but I’ve sent a message over to my case worker so hopefully they sort it or will I still need to wait for the letter about the amount owed

Just got a letter on my journal to say the amount owed and then my case manager said the payment will be paid my 8pm tonight. Finally sorted now and that was 4 weeks 3 days from the change. What a difference it made after I put in the complaint

I'm getting really fed up. My decision maker had to the 19th to make a decision... not done. Called everyday since Monday and get told different things. No call back from my case worker, no reply to my messages. Got told today that the 19th was only a guide line and they don't have to adhere to it! Put in a complaint today as its getting ridiculous 😡

I've not even had a reply to my journal message yet.

Awarded and made the change of circumstance today. Hopefully this goes better than last time. 6 weeks, 2 complaints and MR for my youngest with UC. Now on a MR for half of the back pay from TC

Hi, i have had a letter I'm journal today saying that late change has been accepted by DM does it also mean that I will be entitled to a back date ? I have requested it too

I think so. You now need to call Universal Credits and tell them to tell your caseworker youve been accepted as they don't get notified. It's your caseworker who'll then backpay you

After a month I waited .... they only paid me the child disability element and not the carers element even though I was clear in 4 messages I would like to request both another month later still waiting for the DM this is becoming a joke

I hope yours is sorted soon too xx it's almost the same battle as dla xx

Applied for disabled child element on 24th of April
Got a letter in my journal yesterday saying that the change has been accepted and today just now had another letter saying that they owe me disabled child element and just checked my bank account and its been paid in already. So nearly a month from start to finish.
