Child disability element universal credit

Hi,

Does anyone know if universal credit back date the child disability element from when you first called dla for the claim form (which dla too will back date) or does uc child disability element start from the date dla make the award?

I've not had a letter but I got my back payment today. So reported fully on 26th April. Paid 28th May.

My bank puts monday/bank holiday payments in on a Saturday.

Howcdid you make the complaint? As I have done a re determanation as was not right gave me lowest CA and nothing else march 8th said I will get work 11th July eith new decision I am not waiting thst long said they are going to call me had to do another statement?

I didn't make a complaint. Just put on journal a couple of times that I needed the back payment.

What journal please ?

After complaining, I got a letter on my journal saying my change had been accepted from August 2022! But no mention of backpayment or how much. I called and asked them to inform my caseworker but she now has till Tuesday to get back to me. How many days after the first letter did most of u get your payments xx

I haven't had a letter just the payment.

message on your universal credit journal it should say add entry and put message for work coach

Am not on that hunni am working and don't get any benefits apart from me trying to get CDLA xx

I have been waiting 5 week and still nothing

I been wait 2 months now since I reported change for my son each time I leave note there I get back (no time scale) that’s all they say don’t even have number to ring them ask what goin on as number is only to do universal credit not anything else ? but not even had letter or message of them regarding any money they back dating or if we get anything it ridiculous how long have to wait esp fact money your owed ?

I’ve raised a complaint today. I had a mental breakdown earlier this year, caring for my daughter with no support from her dad or family, just the two of us. I left my uni course. I’m starting a new job tomorrow and was supposed to go and visit HR today with documents for ID, DBS etc but my petrol is on low. Gas and electric on emergency, not enough food to last half term. Absolutely nothing to do a nice activity with her though she’s happy on her iPad.

I think support for parents is absolutely rubbish in this country. First is a wait before any diagnosis, then wait for support, then wait five months for DLA decision and then goodness knows how long to wait for back pay from UC but oh wow - if anyone misses an appointment then they’re quick enough to sanction!!

sorry for the rant, I don’t have anyone in real life to talk to and this is such a hard time.

I’ve been told my UC work coach via Journal that the Decision Maker has 4 weeks to look at uc back pay claims and then they will escalate it

regarding UC back pay keep messaging them as they will sort it out guicker as you will keep annoying them thats what i did otherwise god knows how long i would of waited

I notified UC on the 01.05.2024 about CDP. I had to write the reason for back payment and got told that the decision maker has until the 18.06.2024 ( 6 weeks 6 days ). Got first month child disability already paid with normal UC

This happen start March put on journal got 1st payment element April but still haven’t heard anything after 2 month today I left message for them to read regarding how long family wait for money owed to them but £1 +owe them tske right away with let know upfront this is service that is nothing like any dwp I known that take so long sort pay out owed to us even tax man give rebate back quicker now I already let them know feb 2022 that thing change for my son and was rein bused his change Dla to pip back dated for there mistake so go back to after claim uc feb 2022 and recently find out he owed money no one bother to tell me even tho I’m down carer he on pip ? Communication from there side is a joke takes a week response then have to complain so today I had enough sent one back tell how feel how we all get treated have to wait when money they owed us fact no one tells them what should be get find out of someone else should been get this element ? 2 months 1 week still waiting and gonna keep messge them ring up until someone sort it I’m out because pain back side for them now

Communication from my work coach is terrible too. I hope they sort it for you soon

I’ve just had a message on my Journal from someone at the Job Centre (but not my usual work coach) to say they’ve escalated the case to the Decision Maker.

DLA award decision on April 29th. I informed work coach via UC journal that day.

I had to remind my work coach again on May 9th about the UC back pay of the Disabled Child Element. That’s when he referred it to the Decision Maker.

All through May, I’ve Been told that DM had until June 4th to make a decision and if I hadn’t heard anything by then, my work coach would escalate it. This morning, he told me that the DM had until June 9th. I called UC helpline and said I want to make a complaint. I said if I missed an appointment or didn’t provide a sick note, I’d be sanctioned immediately - but it’s okay to keep SEN parents waiting months for something that would benefit their child? Barbaric system

It's stupid really is I had one coach about bedroom support which I already done got letter say no 16th may today ask to do again said that dission maker want it done or won't go any further until done? I ask is this part element pay or sep cause I want element part sort out back dating done ? So wait game see if another message come to mo cause Fri not gonna rush are they just want answers

I had a call at 6.30pm last night from the Decision Maker, she wanted a screenshot of the DLA award letter because on her system, there was nothing to say there has been DLA awarded.

I uploaded it whilst on the phone with her, she agreed to award back payment and said she’d send a message to my work coach to pay ASAP.

please everyone - keep messaging on journal and put complaints in. It’s the only way I’ve had responses
