livpotter · 24/12/2021 14:58

Thanks open.

Ooh a nice merlot sounds lovely Carrie! Wine

MagratLancre · 24/12/2021 16:02

DH often gets me things I want bit sometimes there's a renegade surprise in the mix ha! We are now baking after our forest walk. Don't you just hate how flour sticks to the worktops?! Aside from that, all lovely etc!
@livpotter ooh yum, send a slice my way too!

openupmyeagereyes · 24/12/2021 16:21

Magrat I got one of those silicone pastry sheets. Much easier to clean.

openupmyeagereyes · 24/12/2021 16:22

We have a butcher block worktop and no matter how well you think you’ve cleaned up you always find bits afterwards.

MagratLancre · 24/12/2021 16:36

goes off to Google pastry sheets

openupmyeagereyes · 24/12/2021 16:58

Magrat it will change your life! I saw Jennifer Garner using them on her pretend cooking show (which I love).

We've just checked out Santa on the Norad tracker. He's wearing his mask Xmas Grin

We are checking Santa tracker too open. We have one it uses your location and says how many hours until they visit x street.

Ds is very excited. Bless him, he’s 100% a Santa believer and think he always will be, bcos I’ll never have the heart to tell him he doesn’t exist. Lol

He’s eaten 2 mince pies and a cup of milk after his tea. He’s never eaten a mince pie before. He’s eaten a raw carrot too. The mini reindeer treat ones from McDonald’s we got to leave out for the reindeer.

Going to bath him and try get him laid down for 7.30. Drag the presents down, watch Whitney stitch grey up and im off up to bed!

MagratLancre · 24/12/2021 17:33

We're checking santa tracker too! DS has eaten so many pringles! Never mind!! Dinner now then try for bedtime before collapse in front of easties too hopefully with a nice red and some chocs!

openupmyeagereyes · 24/12/2021 19:42

Ds in the bath. Going to try bedtime soon 🙏

Good luck everyone with getting as much sleep tonight as possible.

It has been a tricky day (mostly due to the difficult dynamic between my Mum's siblings). However, my children especially DS seemed happy. DS stood on the steps with 2 of his cousins and entertained us all with singing and dancing. It was a wonderful moment for me. Both are sleeping peacefully for now...

openupmyeagereyes · 24/12/2021 21:56

Ds asleep by 8:20, I hope everyone else did ok. Presents are wrapped. Have a great day.

dimples how adorable.

Ds had a good nights sleep, thank god!

Merry Christmas all.

Hope everybody’s day goes smoothly. Xmas Smile

MagratLancre · 25/12/2021 07:25

Just up here! Merry Christmas all!

livpotter · 25/12/2021 08:47

Ours were up at 4 but DH let me lie in til 8! Happy Christmas everyone. Hope it's a calm day for all

danni0509 · 25/12/2021 10:21

Ds couldn’t give a shit about his presents he just wanted the yard of Jaffa cakes tube I got him.

He’s not bothered about his switch or switch games either. Wanted to draw with his £2 PlayStation pen he got instead. kids!! 🤣

It’s going to take me all day to pack it away and dispose of the packaging, that’s the bit I hate! Oh and cooking a big dinner later, it’s such a chore.

Dh is going to play jenga and operation with ds whilst I sort the food. I asked ds if he wants some Christmas dinner, he’s never eaten a meal like that before, he usually has plain pasta. He said yes but he often says that then doesn’t touch it. We’ll see but he can have pasta if not.

Have a lovely day all. I’m not planning on getting dressed today, just being a slob eating everything in sight.

openupmyeagereyes · 25/12/2021 10:45

Ds very excited, opened a pile of presents then watched TV for a while before opening the rest. There are always some he wants to open up and play with before he moves on which I like.

danni ds will just have his usual food today. Same as every day. I’d love him to try something new but no chance of that.

We had a change of plans today due to a non-covid illness, so a much more relaxed day here and I’m still in PJs. Another cup of tea and I’ll get in the shower. I can make dinner for 4pm now which I prefer.

I hope everyone’s having a good day so far.

Struggling a bit tbh. DD super excited as she should be. DS not remotely bothered about presents, resisted me trying to get him to sit and open them this morning just kicked off, so I’ve just left it. Whining every so often for no obvious reason, not overwhelmed etc etc we are still at home.

I just hate how he controls everything it’s not fair on DD. Just don’t know where we go from here with him.

carriebradshawwithlessshoes · 25/12/2021 12:55

Would be a far better day just going for a swim or something! He obviously doesn’t give a shit about Christmas.

Will this ever get better??

openupmyeagereyes · 25/12/2021 13:40

Sympathies carrie. Next time, or for birthday, you could try not wrapping his presents. I think it’s quite common. Ds wasn’t really interested in opening them at 2 and 3 and we had to do most of them, but I know for others it can be an ongoing issue.

Even though you’re at home and it’s low key, the energy and routine are different. That’s probably what it is. It must be doubly difficult when you have a NT child’s expectations as well as your own to deal with Flowers

Carrie. Ds was excited yesterday evening when we left the mince pies out and checked the Santa tracker but he couldn’t care less today, he’s had had his usual load of tantrums over selection boxes and he’s not too fussed with his toys. The switch isn’t the hit I thought it would be he just wants his PlayStation. Never mind.

Ds couldn’t open presents for years (sounds daft but he didn’t know how to unwrap paper and I don’t think he had the strength in his hands so we did it for him) last year was the first year he showed an interest in Santa. So he would of been 3 weeks of 7.

dimples76 · 25/12/2021 16:39

Merry Christmas everyone!

Given the circumstances (my Gran is still with us but my Mum thinks that it's a matter of hours) we have actually had a pretty good day. Both children seemed to like the presents and I managed to persuade DS that 3am was not up time. I cooked a pretty good dinner if I do say so myself.

Carrie it used to take about a fortnight for DS to open his presents as he had no interest but this morning he ran down the stairs before me and jumped on the stocking with glee - unfortunately it was DD's.

I was just relaxing on the sofa with DD when I realised DS was attacking my sister's cat. No rest for me

carriebradshawwithlessshoes · 25/12/2021 22:39

Thanks all.

I know this sounds mad but nothing DS likes doing involves his hands… so he loves swimming, running, jumping, aside from eating with a fork he does very little with them, no playing with toys, no drawing, no pointing really, no movements like unwrapping, no computer games, movements with his hands are all very basic, nothing intricate or precise. DH said why would he be excited about opening toy gifts when he doesn’t like toys?? I think that’s part of it. Even if they were open Open he just doesn’t have any interest that’s the problem, in part I feel??

Day got a bit better…for all his lack of interest in toys DS does like food and often a social gathering so was happy at SILS, ate a hearty Xmas lunch and was generally ok if rather hyper. Constant jumping! But very involved which after this morning was a total relief. I took Opens advice and drank fast… I’ve probably quaffed fair too much high end champers, red and white but hey ho!

Mum and Dad been back to ours, the kids changed from posh clothes into their matching bunny onesies and we are back to normal. DS asleep, DD reading in bed with me, DH having a peaceful drink downstairs.

Thank you again and happy Christmas . As Sir Tom said, tomorrow is another day….xx

MagratLancre · 25/12/2021 22:39

Very lovely day here although DS only just gone to sleep ha! Luckily I switched wine for coffee after lunch so I'm buzzing!
