Solidarity! We have had random 'hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm SNOW MAN' to the tune of winter wonderland today!! And weighted blankets that fly reindeer about and can talk. And jingle bells on repeat! DS started being silly at bedtime, I said are you getting excited, he said 'so excited!!'. Just having a wine now catching up with new Ghosts!

livpotter · 24/12/2021 04:30

Thank you everyone.

Yep same level of anxiety here. Lots of random screaming. Ds is also now up for the day!

Carrie we so rarely take ds to other peoples' houses now cause I can't cope with the stress of it. Here's to drinking fast!

Sorry about your uncle and aunt dimples, it's so irritating when people behave like that.

danni0509 · 24/12/2021 06:21

Ds has been up since 2.30am, he went to sleep at 9.30pm. My Dh went to Asda at 4 this morning with my mam and I was already up with ds when his alarm went off to go.

Ds told me he hates sleeping and doesn’t want to go to bed ever again. Ffs.

I binged corro and easterners catch up when he went to sleep and didn’t go to bed myself until half midnight so I’ve had just over 2 hours sleep 😱

Last Xmas eve ds practically did an all nighter, if I remember rightly he went to sleep for a couple of hours and then woke up and stayed awake until the next night.

I hope he sleeps tonight, I’m going to need to sort all the presents out and get into bed myself.

x

danni0509 · 24/12/2021 06:22

*eastenders obviously.

danni0509 · 24/12/2021 06:29

I’m drinking a giant coffee right now whilst ds fast forwards and rewinds bing and I’m wondering how i can pass the day away.

Anyone have any plans?

I’m going to drive to Morrisons and clean my car. Ive bought some car seat covers to protect the seats from anymore damage from ds feet so I’m going to strap ds in his booster seat with his iPad whilst i try and fit them later. I’ve got some wooden baubles from a garden centre for ds to colour in and im not sure what else, it’s too wet for the park and a walk is out of the question (too difficult to walk him anywhere atm)

openupmyeagereyes · 24/12/2021 06:46

Ds told me he hates sleeping and doesn’t want to go to bed ever again. Ffs

My ds says this often Hmm

Sorry for all the early starts. Ds up at 5:15 but stirred a few times and I had quite a restless night.

I’m taking a bit of heart in all your dc being dysregulated too. Hopefully it’s just the season and will pass. He’s stimming so much - talking non-stop, leaping about as well as the bedtime shenanigans. I guess it’s just how the excitement manifests.

Today we will visit my parents, drop off some presents, go to the park if it’s dry and I have lots of baking and stuff to do at home. I’m also thinking I need to try and wrap ds’ presents during the day incase he doesn’t go to sleep tonight!

danni wasn’t your ds up so late last year you were worried about getting the presents out and then awake after a couple of hours opening them?

Wine for everyone. And Brew obviously.

Yeah open, he was a nightmare last Xmas eve. I can’t remember exactly the timings (too many similar occasions since) but I think he fucked about for hours and it was stressing me out bcos I had loads to do when he went to sleep, then he finally give in and woke up really early hours. He had a couple of hours sleep in total I think.

He was awful Xmas day, tired and tantrummy.

livpotter · 24/12/2021 07:15

That sounds like hard work danni hope he has a better night tonight!

I also need to do some baking today open. Dd has demanded a chocolate roulade and I'm not sure I've ever made one! Then we need some biscuits for Santa. I haven't even started wrapping presents, not even entirely sure what I've bought over the last few weeks 😬.

We'll probably go to park later if it's not too wet just to try and burn off a bit of energy.

danni0509 · 24/12/2021 07:19

I’m thankful I’ve wrapped mine. I did them during the last 2 weeks of ds being at school, just a few each day until they were finished.

Im hoping since ds had a bad night last night he won’t have another tonight and he’ll be too tired to mess me around. One can wish.. Grin

openupmyeagereyes · 24/12/2021 07:29

We usually put out a mince pie for Santa.

Good luck with the roulade liv.

My gammon is on and I started some baguettes last night to bake this morning. Pancakes for breakfast. Me and dh anyway, ds will have his usual Grin

I forgot to mention this.

My dad has a client who he does a lot of work for, who often asks about ds, (my dad has told them he’s autistic) the family wanted to arrange for ds to be sent some gifts.

They sent him a really nice bird feeder / bird seed starter set for the garden, a chocolate hamper and some craft items and a card, they’ve wrote a really nice message in the card saying they love hearing about his mischievous stories from grandad and he deserves to have a lovely Christmas and here’s some gifts for making them smile.

Ive never met these people, how lovely is that! Made me choke up that they could be so thoughtful to somebody they don’t even know!

openupmyeagereyes · 24/12/2021 07:53

danni how kind Xmas Smile

MagratLancre · 24/12/2021 08:10

Oh @danni0509 how kind! It gives me heart that some other adults out there know how hard it cam be for our kids and how society often leaves them out etc. How nice of them. True spirit of Christmas! Big hugs for the lack of sleep though, that is such a small amount. Take it easy today, be kind to yourself too.
DH has finished for Xmas now so we're hoping to drive to nearby forest for a run about etc. Then DS has asked for baking this afternoon. Thankfully I wrapped everything last week when he was still at school as I know how little time I have otherwise! Not much planned otherwise, just hankering down and feasting! Ooh I'm watching eastenders too, the tension is building!

carriebradshawwithlessshoes · 24/12/2021 08:53

Kids to Inlaws for an hour so I can finish wrapping!!! Argh! I know it’s supposed to be the best time of year but if I could be boarding a plane from Leeds Bradford airport in 2 hours for a week of sun with the kids…. Hmm???!!! Come on, any day!!

Agree re eastenders!!!! Come on Whitney! Can’t believe this plot has gone on so long!!!!

Stay in touch all… open I’m loving the breakfast, sounds delicious.

Do you all buy your DHs much??

carriebradshawwithlessshoes · 24/12/2021 08:55

DH took for years to buying nighties that bloody Kate moss in her hey day couldn’t get into. I’m a curvy size 12! Plus not into freezing all night in silk (love my cosy m and s pjs.) he’s given up now tho admitted to nearly buying more another this Xmas!! I’m like, no!!!!!!!!!

Danni that’s a lovely story x

carriebradshawwithlessshoes · 24/12/2021 08:56

More this Xmas… typo! Bad wife me?!

carriebradshawwithlessshoes · 24/12/2021 08:57

And yes hugs for lack of sleep x

openupmyeagereyes · 24/12/2021 09:24

carrie dh never gives me any ideas other than a couple of books so I have to have ideas what to get him myself as well as for family that ask. Plus his birthday is after Christmas so a double whammy. I've no idea what to get him for that. He's getting the usual this year, chocolates, jeans, t-shirt, books, festive beer and suchlike.

He is excellent at buying gifts and very thoughtful so I'm lucky.

carriebradshawwithlessshoes · 24/12/2021 09:36

Ooo what does he get open?? DH panic buys but last minute and often then just asks as shops are only open another 30 mins!!

livpotter · 24/12/2021 12:22

That's lovely danni.

Not a bad first attempt at a roulade!

Carrie Dh buys nice gifts. Usually something from Pandora, a purse and bag from river island, pyjamas and dressing gown from next etc. Things like that.

Mother’s Day one year he bought me a veleda spin mop, I wanted one for ages but was not happy to pay £40 for it. I appreciate getting things I actually need.

He’s an absolute nob to buy for though.

danni0509 · 24/12/2021 12:46

Liv I’ve never had one. Is it like a cake?

livpotter · 24/12/2021 12:55

Yeah it's a flourless chocolate cake wrapped around cream!

openupmyeagereyes · 24/12/2021 13:27

liv that’s awesome, well done 🙌
