If be a nightmare with a laminator Grin

I legit would find things to laminate for the sake of it. I know what I'm like!

danni0509 · 29/11/2019 10:06

I'd not if*

Anyone found any good Black Friday deals?

I got a bag and a purse last night from river island. Well Dh bought them for me for Xmas.

I am trying not to look online today or I'll be spending bill money I'll have to put back!

I've seen a really good mop and bucket from amazon though... Hmm

openupmyeagereyes · 29/11/2019 13:28

danni I haven’t bought anything yet.

Family assembly today. I’m always a bit nervous about these...

Harleyisme · 29/11/2019 13:54

@MapLand we have a toileting routine that i got sent of bowel and bladder team i printed them off laminated and did the routine. We also have emotion chart and anxiety scale that we do with ds.

@danni0509 i am avoiding the sales so i don't end up buying anything 😂

@dimples76 ours is a bargin laminator i got it in a wilks sale for a £5.

I hope everyones non uniform days have gone ok.

@open hope the assembly went well.

School are refusing to get a EP in they say as its medical and anxiety that they will get the school nurse in. Whats a school nurse going to do when she has been involved all along.
They refused to have ds today. He was vomiting last night i think from all the anxiety this week as otherwise he has been fine in himself and earing drinking normally but as theres a bug they won't allow him in school.

openupmyeagereyes · 29/11/2019 16:39

Harley I would have thought an EP would be good for solutions to anxiety based issues. Hope ds is ok over the weekend and can go back on Monday.

openupmyeagereyes · 29/11/2019 16:43

Assembly wasn’t great but it could have been worse... he had a good day otherwise though so I’ll take that.

Harleyisme · 29/11/2019 16:46

@open apparently he doesn't qualify for a ep as hes still making some progress. That the ep wont help with anxiety. The school are now making out like they can't support or help ds as hes not in school when people come in apparently they have requested specialist teacher and he wasn't in and thats our fault. But we are supposed to sign to agree and haven't and are doing things and not informing us at all now.

MapLand · 29/11/2019 19:25

Danni you can't beat a good mop and bucket, go for it! Grin

MapLand · 29/11/2019 19:33

Thanks all for the pictures of the visuals. I think I misunderstood what a prompt card was & thought I hadn't seen it before, but the pics you've all posted are what DS school calls a visual timetable, as although sometimes it's not a full timetable but they just stick cards on the now and next sheet ...

The real life photos are a good idea (sorry can't remember who said it), I think DS would really go for that.

Harley a £5 laminator from Wilko is a fiver seriously well spent!!

openupmyeagereyes · 29/11/2019 20:48

Yes Map they’re commonly called a visual timetable and now and next boards (and now, next and later) are used often. With now and next it’s common to encourage a less preferred activity by following it with a preferred activity.

Ds doesn’t really pay any attention to them at home so we don’t currently use them but I can see they will be useful when he’s a little more mature for doing his routines independently.

I bumped into ds’ teacher outside the supermarket this evening which was nice as I don’t see a lot of him. We had a quick chat. I bet he hates bumping into parents.

openupmyeagereyes · 29/11/2019 20:51

danni I have a few Black Friday baskets open in my browser. Most of it not very exciting but stocking up on some staples. Haven’t committed yet Grin

livpotter · 30/11/2019 13:21

Harley in our LA they do drop in EP sessions once a month. Would there be something like that in your area?

I'm also trying not to buy too much stuff danni. Our little flat is full to the brim! Going to have to do a pre Christmas cull I think.

Glad the assembly went ok open.

Ds got a commendation for doing really well at school this week which was lovely. They have a particularly love TA in the class, who he loves being with. I wish she was his full time 1:1!

danni0509 · 30/11/2019 13:51

Liv we have a tiny 2 bed house, it's so small, I'm forever de junking, we just don't have any space. Drives me mad!! Ds has so much shit, I swear the other day I chucked a full bag of McDonald's toys alone!

danni0509 · 30/11/2019 13:51

Being the healthy child he is an all that Grin

danni0509 · 30/11/2019 13:55

Open last Xmas I bumped into ds teacher in boots car park and how embarrassing but I was telling off raising my voice at ds at the time who had chucked both his trainers out the window on the way in the car park. Dh had to go back and find them. I had to explain the situation to her or I would of worried what she might of thought.

Fortunately she just smiled but I look around now before I shout Grin

danni0509 · 30/11/2019 13:57

In fact, I always bump into ds teachers. Usually in our big Tesco. I think they all live local to me though. His 1-1 lives around the corner from us.

The school is only down the road from us.

danni0509 · 30/11/2019 14:10

We had the Xmas fair yesterday afternoon, they asked if I wanted to pick ds up 25 minutes early to take him in the hall before anyone else came in, so I did.

Amazing! His 1-1 came with us which I don't think she planned to but she ended up with us and she helped me with ds, she got him some chocolate and biscuits and watched him while I got him a lucky bag and had a go on the tombola, she shuffled the lucky bags about and told me which was the best one and I also won a £20 gift voucher! and 4 selection boxes.

His 1-1 is so lovely, she made me laugh at one point by asking if I would manage ds whilst she went to check if Santa was ready to see him. Then she said why did I just ask you that! Haha.

We went to see Santa in the little grotto. He works for the school, maybe the caretaker or something and he was Santa last year and resembles nothing like Santa but he said oh ds you have grown since last year, ds just sat in a rocking chair not speaking to Santa just shouting for presents, then Santa said I'll see you next year, but then he looked at me and said. Will he still be here next year mum? The headteacher was there aswell and I just sort of awkwardly said hmm I think so I would of thought?! I wonder if Santa got told off for that when we left! Blush

Then his 1-1 had given Santa a kinder egg just prior to us going in to give ds so ds was buzzing!

Anyway, i thought it was really nice of the school to let us go in before anyone else and for his 1-1 to stay with us to help. X

livpotter · 30/11/2019 14:12

Sorry danni that did make me laugh. Totally something ds would do! Thankfully we now have window locks in the car.

livpotter · 30/11/2019 14:14

Well done your ds danni and agree how lovely of the school!

openupmyeagereyes · 30/11/2019 15:17

danni glad you had a good time at the fair and won some nice things. Ds will be going to his early with us and a few other children also will. It gets so busy apparently that he probably wouldn’t like it.

I keep meaning to ask how his school photo turned out?

Early start of 3:40 here, dh and I took shifts. Ds is getting a bit grouchy now.

I am making chocolate salt dough ornaments. They are baking in the slow oven. The house smells like chocolate pudding!

danni0509 · 30/11/2019 16:23

Open his school photos turned out really good. I had to buy all 3 in the end as we couldn't decide, so cost a small fortune!

Oh chocolate pudding! Delicious. I'm absolutely starving. I'm on Weight Watchers (my 5th week!) I've got an omelette and some soup for tea once ds is in bed, couldn't come quick enough.

openupmyeagereyes · 30/11/2019 16:32

I hope it’s working for you danni, it’s tough dieting in the run up to Christmas.

Glad the photos were good. Ds’ turned out nicely too.

LittleSwede · 30/11/2019 17:09

Aww, how lovely of the school to schedule an early visit to the grotto danni I wouldn't put it past DD to throw a pair of trainers out if the window either! I've tried to throw some McDonald's tiys out but DD gets terribly attached to everything so proving difficult. Dieting before Christmas is hard, I'm on week 6 of the MN low carb bootcamp and it doesn't finish until the 22nd. No mince pies for me Shock

Open sorry about the early mornings and the anxiety at school. It's such a challenging time if year with bugs, lack of day light and what I call silly season at school (Nativity prep). I do love the build up to Christmas myself but DD doesn't come particularly well.

Mapland sorry you've had a bad week. Hope next week is better Flowers

Light exciting about the King Casper role, hour your DD enjoys it. DD is an angel, non speaking part.

Liv whoop whoop to your DS for the commendation!

Dimples I love the story of the bells, so sweet. Glad you had a good time away.

Harley can't believe the length your DS school goes to to make life difficult! A communication course! Bah humbug!

I'm still suffering with toothache and mouth ulcers here. DD refused to go to the Christmas Bazaar today so I popped up by myself and bought the Christmas tree decorations she had made. Also won a bottle of red wine on the tombola so not a complete waste of time! We wrote a letter to father Christmas today, led to a meltdown when putting it in the envelope but got there in the end. Phew!

openupmyeagereyes · 30/11/2019 18:19

liv well done to your ds, especially in such a difficult period Star

Little sorry you’re still poorly. I had a bad reaction to an antibiotic once and my whole mouth and throat became covered in ulcers. I couldn’t eat a thing for best part of a week, it was hideous. Glad though the the Father Christmas letter ended ok and that you had success in the raffle too.

We will write our letter tomorrow, I printed off some Christmassy paper from Twinkl. I also bought a new set of Christmas books from Book people that I will put out with his advent calendar. We already have loads though so I’ll probably need to cull some once dh brings everything down from the loft tomorrow.

danni0509 · 01/12/2019 11:55

Ds Santa list. Translation.

To Santa,

garig (garage)

Tuy car (toy car)

Choclut (chocolate)

Tuy cassuul (toy castle)

dollz haws (dolls house)

Bless him. I sat next to him prompting him along the way but he practically did that himself! Going to take it in for his teacher tomorrow to show her, he's spelling as it sounds etc. Bless him.

Only problem is, barring the choclut (!) he doesn't have any of those things for Xmas Grin
