London/SE SN meet-up

I suggested on the other thread that due to difficulty of us all meeting up because of geography/children/commitments that maybe those of us who can meet in London and either don't want to bring kids or can easily bring little ones could meet for lunch one day. Suggested a school day but don't know what works best for everyone. Maybe a weekend would be better if we can leave dh/dp's in charge of any kids we don't want to bring?

My suggestion is somewhere like one of the big Pizza Express that are generally relatively child friendly and not too expensive and maybe to meet early 12ish so not too busy.

What do people think? Can many people make London, if it was say West End somewhere, as near to train stations as possible? and week day or weekend better?

Really want to find what works best for most people.

(Sorry if I'm being bossy )

I can do Fridays as a general rule pending hospital appts (I work on all other days).
I could get into town no problems and Pizza Express is fine by me.
Just a thought, a late lunch so it's not massively busy in there might be better???
Sorry, just found that 12 onwards is busy anyway, 2ish might be better. Just a thought thrown in to be be thrown out again!

Davros · 23/08/2004 18:05

Fine by me but couldn't do a late lunch as have to collect DS from school at 3.30pm. West End great, pizza express fine. Shall we pick a date? A Friday for TC at midday-ish for me, HIC and Dino and NOT 17th or w/c 20th Sept as DS's school is closed that week. What about 10th Sept or 27th Sept?

heartinthecountry · 23/08/2004 18:58

Hmm, I work fridays usually but could maybe take a half day or just a long lunch hour. So, Friday 10th Sep probably okay with me or failing that 1st Oct also looks okay.

If we are worried Pizza Express might be busy we could think of somewhere else? Just suggested it cos its easy rather than because particularly like it.

I probably wont make weekday in London, even if I take dd, will have to organise someone to pick up ds from school.
Travel would take me about half an hour+ drive up to Dartford, then 45 mins to hour to get up to CharingX, London Bridge. Tube!!! God knows how long from there with dd in tow.
I am up in Hyde Park doing a charity run ( well-more of a walk or even push dd ) on Sun 5th Sept if anyone is up that way.
I feel my best bet is to wait until we have a meet at somewhere like Legoland. At least that way I won't have to organise childcare and will have DH on hand to help with the kiddies.

Fio2 · 24/08/2004 08:07

I can make it but might have to take dd out of school though as I dont think (logistically) that I will get back to get her off the bus, mind you one of my friends might get her off for me, and look after her of course! I am hopeless in london, where is this pizza express place? The train from here goes to charing cross or victoria (is that close ? Blush typical brummie me)

Davros · 30/08/2004 21:01

So, is anyone still on for this? Looks like 10th Sept or 1st Oct. Am I right that we've got:
Heartinthecountry (works Fri could day half day or long lunch)
Dino
TC
Fio (call in a favour, get someone else to pick her up!)
Me
What's the feedback on date/day/venue? Also, REALISTIC chance of making it?

lou33 · 30/08/2004 21:05

Ahem, what about mw, I might be able to come. Or don't you want me?

lou33 · 30/08/2004 21:07

Me not mw, I was too distraught at being missed out to type properly.

Davros · 30/08/2004 21:27

Lou, of course you can come, but you have to pay for all of us ha ha! What date do you prefer? Either of those or neither? Think I'd prefer 10th Sept but can do either.

InternationalGirl · 30/08/2004 21:48

Where are we going? I could go Sept 10th. I know a nice little place on North Audley Street called Suze. Its just off Oxford St - down from Selfridges and Marble Arch and Bond Street are close Tube stations. Has nice salads, anti pasta platters ... not too expensive. Also has a nice little room at the back of the restaurant we might be able to claim as our own for a little while... I could ask.

lou33 · 30/08/2004 23:52

I don't know if I can make either yet , so go with the majority, and I will try and fit in!

Fio2 · 31/08/2004 07:39

is it a daytime thing? i am totally confused now! I am bringing ds is that right? Grin sorry I will be the dizzy one looking lost, most probably eating in the wrong restraunt with a different set of women not realising that I have met the wrong one's Wink

heartinthecountry · 31/08/2004 09:15

I think I'm still in - need to check with work on the half day/long lunch thing. Will post Weds to confirm. 10th is prob good.

Davros · 31/08/2004 09:35

I'm in for the 10th at Suze if that's OK for everyone else. Fio, are you going to bring DD? I'm sure it will be OK as I don't think anyone else with have child(ren) with them so we can all help. Its lunchtime. Look forward to hearing from everyone on date/venue.

Thomcat · 31/08/2004 09:47

Ohhhhh, that's a FRiday, I can do Friday's. Great. However, I will have to have the Lot-bags with me. It's my only day with her to myself so.... if it's it's a problem I'll ask my mum to have her.

Lou - I insist you come, I can't not meet you, please come, please.

Looking forward to meeting everyone else.

TC

Davros · 31/08/2004 11:47

TC, I'd say its up to you. If you're happy to have her there then I'm sure we would all be too and would love to see her in RL. BUT, you might find it more relaxing and easier to travel without her......

Fio2 · 31/08/2004 11:50

I will have to bring at least ds as I dont know anyone who would have him Blush he is a little bugger though, not a relaxing child at all

dinosaur · 31/08/2004 11:53

So sorry, 10 Sept is not good for me as am going to City lunch earlier in week and can't ask DH to collect DS2 on Friday as well as Tuesday.

blossom2 · 31/08/2004 11:58

i live in London. can i come too?? i'm always finding things to do with DD on fridays ...

Thomcat · 31/08/2004 12:28

That would be lovely Blossom, of course you can come, more the merrier, or more chaotic!!!!

Dinosaur, please ask DH to collect twice in one week, you have to, would he REALLY mind, just this once?

lou - where are you are you coming.

fio - maybe if you are bringing DS then it might be nice to bring DD??????? I'll slep on it.

Fio2 · 31/08/2004 12:29

bring your dd, I cant be the only one there with my complete brat! Blush oh i wish he would behave himself. I met Cadbury last week and her children were angels compared to my two Blush[ again!

blossom2 · 31/08/2004 12:56

is it an no children get together ?!? i would definitely need to bring DD and she's no angel either .... hope thats okay ...

Thomcat · 31/08/2004 13:04

I think us with the kids should have one table and the MN's that escaped having to bring them should have one next to us!

Errr, be under no illusions that lottie is an angel, she';s a typical soon to be 3 yr old who can't get up and run around like most kids her age, so expect some sqwaking from her too.

Sorry MN that aren't bringing kids, not foar on you really but I really want to come and meet you all and my mum does so much for me & L the rest of the week I loathe to ask her to have L again.

blossom2 · 31/08/2004 13:07

sorry yet another question ... i know this is posted in the Special Needs topic and my DD doesn't have special needs. would it still be okay for us to come and say Hello ?
