London/SE SN meet-up

I suggested on the other thread that due to difficulty of us all meeting up because of geography/children/commitments that maybe those of us who can meet in London and either don't want to bring kids or can easily bring little ones could meet for lunch one day. Suggested a school day but don't know what works best for everyone. Maybe a weekend would be better if we can leave dh/dp's in charge of any kids we don't want to bring?

My suggestion is somewhere like one of the big Pizza Express that are generally relatively child friendly and not too expensive and maybe to meet early 12ish so not too busy.

What do people think? Can many people make London, if it was say West End somewhere, as near to train stations as possible? and week day or weekend better?

Really want to find what works best for most people.

(Sorry if I'm being bossy )

I got in about 45 minutes ago...... no, we didn't go on a crawl! Been trampolining with DS, lucky I couldn't drink much as driving.
We had a lovely time, just wish it had been longer. Suze is a great venue and I hope we will be meeting up there again soon and for our Xmas do! I don't know if TC turned up, she hadn't when I left but I thought she might be thwarted by Lottie's appt etc.

Sorry, I'm not totally MIA, just got home! Was at the hospital for hours, Lottie getting really fed up because she couldn't crawl around on the floor it was too busy. She wad started calling out at 6 this morning so was tired and most disapproving of having drops squirted in her eyes and 3 lots of people doing stuff to her and hours of hanging around. Anyway basically she fell asleep in the car on the way over to my mums, where I was going to dump the car before getting on the tube, and I didn't have the heart to wake her, well I just wouldn't do that. So I transferred her to the cot at my mums where she slept for 3 and a half hours!!!! So that kind of put the mockers on the day. Internet at mums is down due to their office move, which their system at home is connected to and BT taking the wrong box away and didn't really know what else to do. Although as I type this I suddenly realise that I really could have phoned directories and got the number for Suze, FFS, what a doughnut! You must think me very rude, the thought quite simply didn't occur to me, I just thought, oh no I haven't got anyone's mobile!

Long winded, as usual, but basically sorry for being a let down. REALLY had EVERY intention of being there, very much looking forward to meeting you all. If you can ever trust me to turn up ever again please, please, please can we arrange something else on a Friday??

I am really, REALLY sorry.

Sure you all had a great time, I look forward to reading about it.

Until next time - TC xx

It was great to meet up - I had a lovely time! I hope you all got home safely.

Davros · 10/09/2004 20:34

TC, we were just disappointed not to see you. Kind of suspected that the appt may have taken longer than you thought it would, always the way! I'm game for another Friday.... maybe November would be realistic, when's sodding half term?

dottee · 10/09/2004 20:37

Ooooh you lot are making me feel jealous!!!!

Thomcat · 10/09/2004 22:06

Half term would be good for me as well, would be easier to get on the road without having hospital stuff first, Lottie just gets worn out after a morning of appts.
Sorry again.

InternationalGirl · 10/09/2004 22:07

I only just managed to get the DH and kids off the computer... It was great to meet those who were able to make it today. Great company - we just did not have enough time - I felt like we could have gone on talking for hours. Just sorry I couldn't stay longer.

Next time I want to meet dinosaur, dingle, thomcat, caroline5, fio, beetroot, dottee, cadbury, etc... etc.. That's a whole other table!!

heartinthecountry · 10/09/2004 23:08

Lovely to meet everyone who was there and sorry to miss those who didn't make it. Agree, it wasn't long enough.

3 things I have realised since I got home:

  1. I think I went straight from slightly nervous to slightly pissed
  2. Davros - how come I still didn't find out what your real name is?!
  3. heartinthecountry is a ridiculous name in the real world .

When's the next one?

AAww...I'm glad it all went well. I must admit, bit down on myself for not making the effort....but the thought of trying to get dd on/off trains and tubes on my own was really not appealling.
I've had a few drinks tonight for you all, as a sort of toast to you!!

eidsvold · 11/09/2004 09:31

so glad to see it all went well but very jealous as I would have been able to make this one had we still been in the UK - dd could have been in nursery and I could have come oh well maybe when we come back for a visit

eidsvold · 11/09/2004 09:31

so very

Davros · 12/09/2004 09:24

LOL HIC! I realised that my real name hadn't come out! IG and R&B already know it..... you will just have to wait until next time! TC, I meant that half term would be IMPOSSIBLE not good but if its OK for everyone else then maybe that would be fair. Yes, my main feeling is that we should have had a LOT longer!
