London/SE SN meet-up

I suggested on the other thread that due to difficulty of us all meeting up because of geography/children/commitments that maybe those of us who can meet in London and either don't want to bring kids or can easily bring little ones could meet for lunch one day. Suggested a school day but don't know what works best for everyone. Maybe a weekend would be better if we can leave dh/dp's in charge of any kids we don't want to bring?

My suggestion is somewhere like one of the big Pizza Express that are generally relatively child friendly and not too expensive and maybe to meet early 12ish so not too busy.

What do people think? Can many people make London, if it was say West End somewhere, as near to train stations as possible? and week day or weekend better?

Really want to find what works best for most people.

(Sorry if I'm being bossy )

Suze is booked for 1pm on Friday. Directions are further down this thread.
Reservation under 'Mums' and I've asked for the backroom.
Look forward to seeing you all then.

lou33 · 06/09/2004 12:47

What time you expecting to get there tc? I reckon i will be 2 - 2.30, will anyone still be there?

InternationalGirl · 06/09/2004 12:52

Most likely - we will try to make it a leisurely lunch but I know some will have to get away to pick up kids from school. I'll probably need to leave by 3 at the absolute latest - gonna have a meeting with the school to assess the first week. DD2 started nursery today!!

Davros · 06/09/2004 13:01

Great! See you all there. Let me know later this week if anyone wants me to bring the Handysitt.

Thomcat · 06/09/2004 14:19

Lou, I'll probably get there in time for 1ish tbh and if I do have L with me will have to be gone by about 3 or it'll go really wrong. It's her 1st week at school, 1st week of private SALT etc so she's going to be shattered, eye tests and possiblke a bit of groupl thereapy as well if we get out of the eye clinic in time.

lou33 · 06/09/2004 16:52

Hmm, maybe I should pass then, seems like everyone will be on their way by the time I get there. Ds has an appointment at 11.30, and that is probably going to be an hour long, which means I won't get a train until 1, in london by 1.50, then have to get to the restaurant.

Sorry if that causes problems. I don't want to be getting there while you are all talking about getting home.

Thomcat · 06/09/2004 17:42

We can have an hour together Lou, ??????

fio2 · 06/09/2004 17:44

I dont know how i am going to get back for my dd and I have started to feel guilty about taking her out of school Sad i am useless

do you think i would manage with both of them getting on and off the train etc?

Thomcat · 06/09/2004 17:51

Can I help in anyway Fio? Meet you on the platform at one end?

lou33 · 06/09/2004 18:01

Well it would be 2 o'clock before I got on the tube tc, not by the time I go to the restaurant. Dh has offered to drop me at the station before the appt for ds, but then I would be too early!

What to do, what to do.....

lou33 · 06/09/2004 18:02

Actually, if i did come early , I could leg it to victoria and help you Fio.

fio2 · 06/09/2004 18:02

go shopping!

tc i will find out where and when tommorrow and let you know. My mil reckons that if you ring up beforehand they help you on and off

fio2 · 06/09/2004 18:03

ok lou, this is real. i am scared now Grin i will need a drink when i get there, or shall i put a hip flask in my bag?

lou33 · 06/09/2004 18:07

You can get disabled assistance on the trains fio, but you have to call each train company to organise it, so if you have to change anywhere, make sure you know who to contact. What time you planning on getting in to Victoria? I would probably get to Waterloo at 12.15 -12.30, so could get to you soon after.

If you email me with your mobile I will store it and we can keep in touch on the journey.

lou33 · 06/09/2004 18:08

Hip flask and drink when you get there. Is there any way you could get someone to look after the kids, or would you prefer to bring them?

fio2 · 06/09/2004 18:12

no i know no-one who could look after the kids. My friend is still in canada, i thought she would be back this week, I must have got muddled

fio2 · 06/09/2004 18:13

its a direct line btw to victoria. I will have to borrow niges mobile! i have not become modernised yet Wink

lou33 · 06/09/2004 18:17

It would make it easier to have a mobile, because when i get to victoria, I can just call you and say, where are you?

Work out what train you want to get, or alternatively, give me the train station you are leaving from, and I can work it out on my railway online thingy for you.

heartinthecountry · 06/09/2004 20:11

If it makes it easier Fio2 it looks like you can get a bus from Victoria to Oxford St/Marble Arch - the 82 is direct and has wheelchair (and therefore buggy) access. But if you have Lou33 with you you could prob manage the tube?

How about this then fio2 (and lou). I meet you (ALL of you if you want) at Victoria in my car, we exchange mobile numbers to locate each other. I have to have the car anyway to pick up DS from school, I was going to leave it near his school but just as easy to take it with me and leave it at Selfridges..... Can't promise to take you back after though....
BTW, I seem to be a strange person because I LIKE driving around central London!

lou33 · 06/09/2004 23:10

I'll go with whatever Fio wants. I can make it on my own if she has so many offers of help, as I am not bringing ds2.

lou33 · 07/09/2004 17:01

FIO! AM I MEETING YOU AT VICTORIA OR NOT?

Just realised I can change at clapham junction and come straight into victoria. What time you getting in?

fio2 · 07/09/2004 17:08

I dont think i am coming, although i would LOVE to. Dh doesnt want me to take dd out of school because she has only just started Sad and there is no way I could back, i dont think to fetch her. She gets back here for 3.45 and the train takes 1hr15mins and I am 25 mins from the station iykwim

i feel crap about this

lou33 · 07/09/2004 17:16

Ok, shame I just emailed you btw.

Of course what I would do in this situation, was tell dh she was going to school, then don't send her . He need never know.

fio2 · 07/09/2004 17:17

ohhh i CANT lie! Blush i just cant, i have tried but I cant. i will ponder it though!
