London/SE SN meet-up

I suggested on the other thread that due to difficulty of us all meeting up because of geography/children/commitments that maybe those of us who can meet in London and either don't want to bring kids or can easily bring little ones could meet for lunch one day. Suggested a school day but don't know what works best for everyone. Maybe a weekend would be better if we can leave dh/dp's in charge of any kids we don't want to bring?

My suggestion is somewhere like one of the big Pizza Express that are generally relatively child friendly and not too expensive and maybe to meet early 12ish so not too busy.

What do people think? Can many people make London, if it was say West End somewhere, as near to train stations as possible? and week day or weekend better?

Really want to find what works best for most people.

(Sorry if I'm being bossy )

aww thanks sweetie Smile they still havent contacted me about her transport yet, i hope its sorted. Is your dd back at playschool next week?

Cadbury · 31/08/2004 18:12

Next monday. I'll msn you instead of highjacking this thread.

Fio2 · 31/08/2004 18:13

Grin okay!

heartinthecountry · 31/08/2004 20:07

I think IG can only meet if we are near her office (is that right IG?) can't think which parks have cafes other than St James. I work on the strand so anywhere central fine for me.

I'm VERY happy to go to the place IG has suggested, especially if we can get the back room. Regent's Park has a cafe but its an extra notch of travel we could probably do without. I think most of the big/central parks have cafes somewhere.

lou33 · 31/08/2004 21:11

Or we could all abandon the kids for the day, go to Cuba Libre in Upper St, Islington, and drool over the bartenders.

Caroline5 · 31/08/2004 22:21

Hope you have a good time - not going to be able to make it on 10th.

RexandBen · 31/08/2004 22:44

sounds good lou

lou33 · 31/08/2004 23:24

Me and thee then RnB

Why not Caroline? CAn we change it to get you to come?

Caroline5 · 01/09/2004 18:07

Well, it's our 10th wedding anniversary and we've arranged babysitting during the day to go out for lunch! Would love to come to the meet-up, but don't think dh would be very impressed!! I already spend far too long on Mumsnet

Real fast, got to go to work... I checked with Suze to see if they could accommodate 6-8 adults and 3-4 little ones and they said they could. They do also have one high chair. They couldn't guarantee we would have the back room all to ourselves but most likely. The room is only seated for 16 and I think we will pretty much take it over anyway so 'the more the merrier'. It is near my work so it is handy (I may just take the afternoon off though...) and I think it is fairly central and accessible for others who are coming. Shall I book Suze for us? Can anyone give me an accurate(ish) count and what time?

InternationalGirl · 02/09/2004 07:28

One more thing - the back room at Suze is up about 10 stairs - can everyone do stairs?

Thomcat · 02/09/2004 11:08

Well personally 12.30 ish would be good as I can get Lot-bags something to eat, either that or later and i'll feed her on the tube on the way up.

lou33 · 02/09/2004 11:37

The very earliest I could get there is 2, and that's pushing it. I don't mind skipping food though, but will you all still be about, or will you be meandering off about then?

Fio2 · 02/09/2004 11:40

I will have to keep dd off school i think because else i will be worrying I wont get back on time. So if there are steps I might have to call on one of you for help Smile

blossom2 · 02/09/2004 11:43

I'm sorry , i've lost track of where we are meeting and what time ....

Thomcat · 02/09/2004 12:30

Lou, I'll wait around / get there later myslef, not missing out on seeing you!

heartinthecountry · 02/09/2004 13:48

I've got the afternoon off work but would be pushing it to get there before 1pm. But, am happy to stay around for a few hours (esp if there is wine!). IG - do you think Suze would mind if we kind of hung around for a while? That way, those who need to leave earlier could get there about 12.30, others could arrive later, but hopefully we would all overlap at some point?

OP posts:
Davros · 02/09/2004 17:22

I can get there for 12.30 and would have to leave at 3pm!! Won't be able to drink though as I'll be driving I can help anyone up the stairs. I've also got a Handysitt that I could bring if we need more than one high chair.

Fio2 · 02/09/2004 17:26

if i have wine, i will put someone in charge to get me on the train Wink

lou33 · 02/09/2004 19:17

Tc, don't build your hopes up too much. Don't want to see your happy little look of anticipation , followed by utter disappointment as I get up close!

InternationalGirl · 02/09/2004 20:05

Okay gang here goes this is it ( I think )... How about --

1PM FRIDAY 10TH SEPTEMBER AT SUZE AT 41 NORTH AUDLEY STREET TEL 020-7491-3237.

(Directions are find Marks & Spencer on Oxford Street. It is between Marble Arch and Bond St tube stations. Between Laura Ashley and London Luggage is North Audley Street, go down past Starbucks and about one more block down is Suze. If you get to Grosvenor Square you've gone too far.)

Heartinthecountry
Fio + babe (age of little fio?)
Davros
Blossom2 + babe (age of little blossom?)
RexandBen + babe (age of Rexie?)
InternationalGirl
lou33
Thomcat + Lot-bags (age 2 1/2)

It will help to know ages, then we can decide if anyone would need to use Davros' Handysitt.

Davros also said she would carry "anyone up the stairs" so no problem there -

Grosvenor Square is almost across the street so if it is a nice day either before or after the restaurant you could take the kids for a run on the grass if they are restless.

Anything else? If this is it then I'll go ahead and make the reservation for 8 adults and 4 toddlers. Looks like we will almost fill up the room!! and no-one else will WANT to sit with us !!

lou33 · 02/09/2004 21:37

I seem to be very good at creating exclusion zones wherever I sit, so don't worry about sharing the room!

RexandBen · 05/09/2004 22:06

sorry I have been away. Will be there for 1pm without Rexie (managed to twist hubbies arm!) See you lot there!

Thomcat · 06/09/2004 10:47

I'll be there but not as early as i thought as Lottie has her annual eye check at 10am and these things can take hours as you have to see 3 people and wait inbetween each part of the appt.

Might actually try and leave her behind as she's going to be tired with huge pupils!
