Making hay while the sun shines and always adoring Beatrice.

I have chosen the thread title this time, because current circumstances means the sun isn't always shining for Beatrice at the moment. Indeed, she is currently in hospital in a fair amount of discomfort. However, when the sun does shine, and we have bright and clear days, we pack in as much as we can. Smile

When we brought Beatrice home from SCBU, we had the consultant's words ringing in our ears, 'Take her home and make some memories.' I feel confident and proud that we have made a treasure trove of memories, however long Beatrice's life may be. She continues to be surrounded by so much love and adoration from her family and I feel this love has helped her to thrive.

During the difficult days, such as these, we pray hard for peace and calm, and for a quick resolution so we can take our darling girl home and make even more precious memories with our beautiful Beatrice.

As with all other threads, same rules apply Wink, read if you want to, post if you can, but above all, please spare some positive thoughts or prayers for Beatrice. Smile

Cup, I've just been looking at your gorgeous pictures and I just have to say how beautiful your girls are. I've only posted once before on one of your threads but am an avid reader and am so pleased that Bea is doing OK after her last brush with illness. Your posts about her regularly move me to tears and I think about you often.

Morning cup, how are you all today?

cupofteaplease · 07/06/2012 09:14

Morning. Beatrice got home yesterday afternoon Smile

Today it is dd2's 5th birthday so it is her turn to be the centre of attention! Consequently, the respite nurse is coming to take care of Beatrice so I can take the bigger girls to soft play where we are being joined by their cousins and a couple of friends. She's so excited!

My PIL, who have had the older girls to stay a lot recently while Beatrice has been in hospital, are off to Canada today for a month. MIL is very anxious about going in case something happens to Beatrice while they are gone. However, this morning, as I was cuddling dd1 she seemed worried and asked me who would be around to help us while they are away- what would happen to her and dd2? I felt awful, I can't believe a 6 year old is carrying that sort of burden on her shoulders. I told her not to worry, it's a grown up problem and if Beatrice has to go to hospital they will be safe and still get to school. At times like this it really hits home how much disability affects the whole family.

I'm very pleased Beatrice is home.

Happy Birthday DD2 - I hope you have a great day.

I'm sorry your older girls seem worried but what a credit to you they are - talking to you about their concerns and being practical instead of having a whiney why us, why do we have to go elsewhere attitude. And YOU raised those caring sensible girls cup (DH too obv!). Another reason for you to be proud.

Have a great day at soft play, drink too much coffee and eat far to much cake Grin

peggyblackett · 07/06/2012 09:46

Happy Birthday to your DD2! Very glad Bea was able to be home for it and that you had a respite nurse in so you could play with the older 2. xx

Northernlurker · 07/06/2012 14:01

Happy Birthday dd2!

So sorry - I missed Bea being in hospital again but at least it was a brief stay.

Re your oldest daughter. Yes Beatrice's situation does affect the other girls. That's part of your family story and it will shape who they are, just like it's changing you and dh. In an ideal world we would spare our dcs anything even slightly complex or painful but we don't live in that sort of world. Oldest children always take on responsibility. You would find that, even if Beatrice did not have the medical problems that she has. I don't think that's a negative. Be honest with your girls - as you always have been - and I think everything will fall in to place.

MNP · 07/06/2012 15:58

Glad everyone is home and birthday wishes to Miss Teaset2 and hugs to Miss Teaset1.
