Making hay while the sun shines and always adoring Beatrice.

I have chosen the thread title this time, because current circumstances means the sun isn't always shining for Beatrice at the moment. Indeed, she is currently in hospital in a fair amount of discomfort. However, when the sun does shine, and we have bright and clear days, we pack in as much as we can. Smile

When we brought Beatrice home from SCBU, we had the consultant's words ringing in our ears, 'Take her home and make some memories.' I feel confident and proud that we have made a treasure trove of memories, however long Beatrice's life may be. She continues to be surrounded by so much love and adoration from her family and I feel this love has helped her to thrive.

During the difficult days, such as these, we pray hard for peace and calm, and for a quick resolution so we can take our darling girl home and make even more precious memories with our beautiful Beatrice.

As with all other threads, same rules apply Wink, read if you want to, post if you can, but above all, please spare some positive thoughts or prayers for Beatrice. Smile

Sending love and prayers to your gorgeous Bea xx

Happy birthday, LittleCup2, hope you had a fab day Smile!

Sorry to hear Bea had to return to hospital and glad she is back home.
It must be hard, hearing your 6 year old sound too mature for her years. I think Northernlurkers thoughts on the subject are spot on: living with their little sister will affect your older 2, be as honest as you are and don't dismiss their concerns. Children take a lot of things at face value and a reassurance such as you gave 'you'll always be taken to school' can go a long way.

Much love, as ever, your way - hope you had a fun day too.

Thinking of Bea and the Teaset and hoping everyone is okay (miserable weather permitting) :)

ExitPursuedByABear · 09/06/2012 22:04

Jusat returned from a week's holiday and had to check in to see how Beatrice the Brave was doing. Glad she is home.

I can understand how you feel about your older girls cup but I am sure that the love and dedication you show to Bea will only serve to make them feel even more loved and secure.

saffronwblue · 10/06/2012 01:02

Hope the birthday was lots of fun and you have had a calm and happy week. x

foofooyeah · 10/06/2012 08:45

So glad Bea is back home and I hope you have a lovely day with your birthday girl today.

I loved your post yesterday where you said you were so thankful to have Bea - what a gorgeous sentiment. It must be emotionally hard to deal with the ups and downs but you have three beautiful girls - what a fantastic thing to have.

Sending my very best wishes to the whole teaset and a special birthday widh to your daughter too.

LateDeveloper · 11/06/2012 13:34

hope the lovely bea is doing well.

Disability does affect the whole family and my dd does miss out sometimes because of her brother but all families are limited in some ways - by time, money, health and opportunity etc so dont feel guilty.

I grew up with a sister who has DS and i think the key is to quietly show your dd that you recognise and appreciate how well they are coping without making too big a deal of it and putting ideas into their heads that they are hard done by or being massively heroic.

From your posts you actually sound like you've got the balance right but you may need to watch those around you. I know growing up I resented relatives saying how sorry they felt for me because it seemed so disloyal to my lovely little sister and so I used to deny any bad feelings.

But the continued suggestion by relatives that it must be so terrible to have a sister with DS (and admittedly some tricky medical complications) did get to me as a child but made me feel ashamed in some odd way that my life wasn't perfect.

Just checking in on lovely Miss Bea. Hope everything is running smoothly atm.

Hope the sun is shining.

cupofteaplease · 14/06/2012 23:47

The sun is most definitely shining!

All running smoothly here, I went back to work on Monday and Beatrice was as good as gold for her babysitter.

We have dates for her portage assessment, delivery of OT goodies, our CCN is going to look into arranging a TAF meeting to make life easier. We've booked a stay at the hospice. She's been accepted for music therapy through a charity who works closely with the hospital- we're just waiting on assessment. Her tube has been in for 4 weeks and 2 days Shock Grin, she's currently fast asleep with her eyes COMPLETELY closed and today she tried some petit filous and seemed to enjoy it.

All in all, we need to wear sunglasses at the moment, it's so bright!

Oh, and it's dd1's birthday tomorrow so more excuses to smile.

So pleased to hear your news. No chance to get in touch further at the moment as there are difficulties here, but as soon as possible I will be in touch some more.

Trudyla · 15/06/2012 12:35

Fantastic news. It's so nice to hear about Bea's progress. I'm in total awe of you and your family. You have such a strong and loving bond.

I always think about little Bea and send positive vibes.
