I’ve read it can take anywhere from 48 hours to months and months. Though my friend works as an advisor for UC. She says if it’s gotten to 4 weeks with no verification then escalate to a complaint. As it’s literally a 2 second task.

I reported both my caring obligations for carers element and my sons award of DLA on Friday 25th. I noticed today they’d turned work search off, cancelled my work search appointment for this Thursday and given me new commitments to accept. Which seem to acknowledge that I no longer have to search for a new job (I got made redundant in July).

I also got a message to say they’d sent the verification off to the necessary department and when that’s done they’ll look at backdating the 3 months of carers element and disabled child element.

Thank you for responding. I guess, the good thing is there is no decision to be made it’s just a case of when it gets done.

🤞🏼 they clear the back end of July over the next week. Hoping my SD 24th July sneaks in this week.

My SD was 23rd July. I’m hoping I hear back soon, the anxiety of not knowing is killing me and I worry about calling and asking if there’s an update 🤦🏻‍♀️

SilverGlitter26 · 30/09/2026 09:10

Exactly that. They don’t give nothing away on how it works etc. so confusing. I do wonder if because they requested my daughter’s birth certificate if that slowed things down. As that didn’t get sent back till 11th of August x

There’s no harm in calling, it is what they are there for. It’s not as bad as it seems when you’re trying to pluck up the courage to do it. Xx

When I previously claimed for my other daughter, the only time I called was because I’d had an update in medication and wanted to let them know and that she told me that she’d been awarded. But I feel rude just ringing and asking just for an update, Especially as my text on the 23/7 said it can take up to 25 weeks

Stressed1985 · 30/09/2026 09:58

Genuinely think we've been refused. I've been checking his onegov account twice a day and nothing. Being physically sick now with the anxiety. This process is so exhausting. Fingers crossed for you all.

I was the same I claimed for my youngest that took 4 weeks unfortunately, had to do an MR though still waiting on that too. I called a couple of times with questions, I said I didn’t want be a pest and the lady said call as many times as you want to, that’s what we are here for. The up to 25weeks is just something to
allow for different things like staff levels. They actually publish they aim to clear new claims in something like 45 days xx

A lady on here mentioned it earlier on the thread. It's an account to see what benefits you get. She set her child up one and found out that way that she'd been awarded.

23rd july. Seems quite a few people of this date are still waiting.
