So I was worried because I had seen on here that people have had letters and I hadnt. I have had one today dated 21st September. The letter says they have had my forms since 4/08 so ive probs got at least a couple more weeks right!?

hi everyone 👋🏻

NC. S/D 7/8.

Can anyone help with the number to call to get to option 4? I could be pressing the wrong numbers beforehand and that’s why I’m not getting it.

As i said above my scan date is 7/8 but I’ve received my sons educational psychologist report today and think it would help as further evidence but I don’t want to send it incase a decision has been made

thank you ❤️

Speak to someone in English 1.
then option 2
then option 5
then option 4

I think that’s it

Looks like it’s about 10-11 weeks at the moment but after the summer rush they seem to catch up again. July is one of the busiest months as people get all the evidence from schools etc and get it sent in before summer holiday and in the first couple weeks of it

I have severe anxiety and ocd so with things like this I can’t help but call atleast twice a day because of the anxiety of it all and when I explain that they completely understand. I don’t doit to be annoying I doit because I physically can not stop myself calling. It doesn’t go against you in anyway whatsoever it’s simply just a phonecall. I’m the exact same with test results. Even if they say 2 week I can’t help but call everyday. Some people are so
understanding which helps massively. And also being told several different things and trying to get a actual right answer adds to the anxiety ontop of that

Don't explain yourself lovely - we should all know and understand how each one of us are different and our needs are different - just like we are fighting for our children who all have different needs, disabilities, mental health, illness's and many more. If it helps you, you do what's best! All the best and I hope you receive some good news soon! X

Babybell8 · 29/09/2026 14:49

Those responses actually made me cry thank you so much. When I explain to the people I speak to especially the lady today they are so lovely about it they have a note on the system explaining my anxiety and that my ocd makes me call and I can’t help it. They have been lovely about it. Still no
uodate BUT it’s eased my anxiety for the rest of the day knowing I’ve called if that makes sense. Thank you again for being so lovely xx

Md234 · 29/09/2026 15:20

@Babybell8 you don’t have to explain yourself to anyone! I’m glad you’ve been put at ease for today and tomorrows a new day and a step closer to getting a decision🤞xx

Hopefullyitcan · 29/09/2026 15:29

Does anyone know how the process works if your claim is approved? Would the first notification you get be a pending bank payment?

Usually! You can call and find out through updates but usually if you don’t call the first thing people tend to notice is the payment pending or the payment going in and then the letter usually follows after. They’re working around the 20th of July at the moment

100%. sometimes we have to do whatever is needed for our own mental wellbeing. If someone doesn’t suffer from anxiety etc I don’t think they understand the strain the wait puts on others. U do what’s right for u, no one else. Xx

Hope so. It’s making me feel so sick. I worry that I’ve not sent enough evidence or completed the form correctly. Ended up having to send in several cover letters to ensure I wrote everything I needed to. Still waiting to be seen by medical professionals but he’s been under the school nurse and sent our referral letter for camhs so I do hope that’s enough. When is your scan date? Xx

Friends94 · 29/09/2026 17:05

I’m the same I he’s e anxiety nd ADHD. This is my 4th child claim nd first 3 have been successful HRC LM. Everyone has aways been nice and no complaints. Kids sleep nd go to school so it’s definitely ok to ring if worried. I am student nurse also so I mainly ring why at work why kids in care of family etc. thing is we are all parents I have 5, 4 with disability’s so I’m not a carer for all mine so they can never judge as they don’t know his caring for who hence why each child needs a separate carer cx

Does anyone know how long it takes for UC to verify DLA for disabled child element? Thank you

Does anyone know how long it takes for UC to verify DLA for disabled child element? Thank you

I’ve read it can take anywhere from 48 hours to months and months. Though my friend works as an advisor for UC. She says if it’s gotten to 4 weeks with no verification then escalate to a complaint. As it’s literally a 2 second task.

I reported both my caring obligations for carers element and my sons award of DLA on Friday 25th. I noticed today they’d turned work search off, cancelled my work search appointment for this Thursday and given me new commitments to accept. Which seem to acknowledge that I no longer have to search for a new job (I got made redundant in July).

I also got a message to say they’d sent the verification off to the necessary department and when that’s done they’ll look at backdating the 3 months of carers element and disabled child element.
