Hello!

Please help me narrow down some names for my new honey subscription business. It's providing a tube of raw natural honey from different small apiaries and back yard beekeepers through the post monthly.

I would like something modern and not too twee. We're based in Scotland but I'm hoping it'll be a national company.

So far we have

Braw Honey (emphasis on the raw... but I'm not sure if Braw means something different in the rest of the UK? Or Hinnie, which is an old Scottish word for honey (maybe too obscure?) Rare honey, or Real honey. Ugly honey (as a pushback to the fake homogenized honey in supermarkets) Letterbox honey (too literal) Honey I'm home (twee)

I like words that mean 'different' like offbeat honey, but seems to be trying too hard to be cool....

Or words that highlight health or wellness? Live honey?

This is so hard!

Honest honey is good.

I don't know what braw means (I'm in London).

Sweet Bee, Buzz Honey, Hive Buzz.

Be careful.. Buzz Honey reminds me of Love Honey!

Nikitaspearlearring · 26/10/2024 21:23

Braw to me sounds like cold (as in cold weather).

BeeKeeping · 26/10/2024 21:26

Just had a quick look- honest honey is taken! But not Hive mined.... and go daddy have a significant discount for the first year...

Yes a lots of 'honey' names are very sexy! I was once paying for something and referred to it as honey money (money that I'd got from selling honey) and the lady asked me if I did Only Fans... maybe I should call it Only Hives! Grin

One suggestion was Live Honey - only one letter different!

If you're hoping to cover the whole country, how about UK Hun?!

I love Braw Honey, call it that! You can make a 'thing' of explaining (to English people!) what braw means on the website/packaging.
The trouble with Hive Mined is that it's a play on words that doesn't relate directly to what your product is (i.e. it doesn't contain the word honey) so you'd have to be really good with SEO to get around that.

averitablevampire · 26/10/2024 21:37

From Comb to home

Cismyfatarse · 26/10/2024 21:42

B's Honey
From Bee to You.

Cismyfatarse · 26/10/2024 21:42

Or B2U.

Honey,from bee to you.

Sorry. Didn't read the thread. Already suggested.

Supermand · 26/10/2024 21:45

I like Braw honey but I think I’d expect all the honeys to be Scottish.

Rare or Real Honey- good

Ugly Honey- very good

I’d avoid anything too neat or twee. Quite like Hive Mined but it’s always tricky when an online business doesn’t have an obvious spelling. Hinnie makes me think of mules.

Hmm yes maybe. I thought that it did relate to the product directly- it's a collection of beekeepers, like a hive mind and honey is 'mined' from hives.

Is it too clever?!

Hive Mined is brilliantly clever - I love it! - but it would just get completely lost on most people looking to buy honey, sadly.

All the honeys will initially be Scottish, but if we expand in future maybe not.

I do really like Ugly honey maybe I should stick to that. I definitely don't want neat or twee, you're spot on.

I didn't realise Hinnie was also for mules, best cross that one off then!

I wouldn't buy Ugly Honey, sorry. And honey is often bought as a gift, especially subscriptions. I wouldn't send anything that somebody might take offence to.

takeaflight · 26/10/2024 21:55

At first I thought that the problem with Hive Mined was that it was just a pun that didn't say much about the business, but now that you explain that you are a bee collective, it really does say something about the product. You are a group of people who all think alike -- in the one important respect of valuing real natural honey.

BeeKeeping · 26/10/2024 22:21

Yes that exactly- I think it works both ways

Although on second thoughts perhaps you really do need the word honey in the name
