@suki1964 Thanks for the guidance. Yes. I’ve followed a SP today. Maybe will do it every other day. I think part of the shift in mindset is ‘this is it’ and this is perhaps part of the effort of sticking to effort. If I don’t reach my target in two weeks/weigh ins, yes, will adjust to the weight I’m sitting at now. It’s got to be realistic.

lechatnoir · 26/11/2025 22:11

Yes as @suki1964says although I thought it was 10 syns? Regardless it definitely works. The past 2 days for me by way of example:
B: 2 eggs, sautéed mushrooms & cherry tomatoes
L:a large salad with loads of veg plus sardines & another boiled egg
D: chicken & veg curry over cauliflower rice
snack: blueberries and raspberries (I’m on a detox at the moment but normally would have FF yogurt and more fruit)
Milk for coffee 6 syns for coconut milk and olive oil for cooking

B: scrambled egg and spinach
L: large bowl of veg soup
D: Roast chicken, roasted veg & celeriac mash followed by fruit
Portion of almonds, milk for coffee and syns for olive oil to cook and on salad

Anotherdayattheforum · 26/11/2025 23:26

@lechatnoir Yes. SP Day x 10 syns. Double checked. There’s a little bonus @suki1964

I have zero carbs today, not even a banana. Unheard of. When I started SW I was consuming so much sugar based foods, it was addictive eating. My diet today I couldn’t have contemplated back then. So it is possible to adapt.

You are right on two counts

This is it for life

So it has to be realistic

So for me my weeks looks like this

I have my crisps, white bread and butter and carbs - pasta and garlic bread on Saturdays, because those are the foods I have to avoid daily. Saturday - I dont give a poo - its weight in day.

Sunday Im straight back on plan , usually a roast dinner ( SW friendly ) and perhaps some scrambled eggs

And then that's me for the week, I know what's SW friendly, and I mostly make those choices. But then there are cock ups. Some mornings my stomach feels like my throat has been cut, Im in work, the choices are pastry or cake, so I will take something. That's fine once a week, 3 times a week then I skip lunches

For me it's not a hardship as Ive been here for so long. Yesterday for example, I was up at 4am, and ate my first meal at 7.30pm

Im not advocating that as healthy eating, Im just saying how it goes for me , even when piling on the weight I was never gorging, just eating the wrong things for me ( bread , crisps and pasta, little veg, no fruit, scarcely any protein or dairy ) . Now for 3 or 4 days a week Im eating from the correct food groups

LeftyLou · 28/11/2025 16:14

How has everyone been getting on? The last couple of months have been really hectic and my weight loss has really been put on the back burner. I can't remember when I last posted but I ended up getting my 3.5 stone award back in October. However, in the last couple of weeks I've put 5.5 lbs back on.

I know I don't do too well having so much weight to lose especially this close to Christmas. So I'm going to really have to push myself. I am hoping if I can get a fairly big loss this week I can relax it a little for the weeks leading up to Christmas, and aim for a 1 lbs loss, with anything more as a bonus.

At least I know what's caused the gain and what to do to reverse it. Makes it a little bit easier.

My current weight right now is 12 stone 2.5. my lowest this time round was 11 stone 9.5 when I got my 3.5 award. But such is life 😄.

On another note, what does everyone think about the new changes that are coming?

suki1964 · 29/11/2025 23:29

@LeftyLou , dont beat yourself up , weight fluctuates

We are now heading into Christmas, lots of temptation about , for some lots of nights out - work and family dos and then of course the feasting over the holidays . Then, and I find this the worse bit, everyone unloads their excess to the workplace in the new year, just in time for feeling meh and crap weather

This is my third christmas at SW, first one actively losing, and this will be my second as maintaining

I loosen the belt now. I keep going, I keep weighing in. I know Im going to have a gain, there's a bloody good chance Im going to go over the 3lb leeway , but I accept its going to happen and going to group each week keeps me focused so that losing the excess in January isnt a frightening thought

So dont beat yourself up, just dont give up

Throw a couple of speed days into your weeks to counteract the days you know you are going overboard and it will help , and try to plan ahead, even if it is just for that day. Example, if I know Im going to be eating out that night, I won't touch carbs during the day - just protein and speed - so I can choose what I want without it being obvious to all and sundry Im watching what I eat.

Congratulations on the 3.5 award, you must be over the moon. And keep hold of the fact you are 3 stone lighter then you were

Hippywannabe · 30/11/2025 00:08

I am doing OK. Yesterday was the school fair(I work there) and I was running the prize every time chocolate and cake tombola, other than a few chocolate buttons which I synned, I resisted.
Today is my wedding anniversary, we normally do takeaway and wine but I did DH a steak dinner and I had a SW tikka masala and coffee.
Hoping to track the next stone barrier at weigh in.

LeftyLou · 30/11/2025 09:34

Thank you @suki1964 that is definitely a great way of looking at it 😊.

Happy Anniversary @Hippywannabe ☺️

Does anyone have any gravy recipes that are free or low syn. I looked after my nephews yesterday and my sister cooked a chicken so had a lovely roast. Had a Yorkshire pud for 2.5 syns. The gravy was bisto. It says 1 syn for 1 level teaspoon if I remember correctly just seems a lot.

lechatnoir · 01/12/2025 10:26

I make a syn free gravy with onion, carrot & celery plus beef stock cube, Worcestershire sauce and some thyme and rosemary all boiled together then blitzed up.

lechatnoir · 01/12/2025 10:33

@LeftyLou I’m not really sure what the changes are other than something about healthy fats being used as a healthy extra which Id love as I use most of my syns on olive oil and avocado!

im doing a couple of SP days after a big weekend out drinking, birthday cake and generally being off plan as hoping to continue the losses until Christmas.

suki1964 · 01/12/2025 15:21

Happy anniversary @Hippywannabe

The changes are doing to be called swip's instead of syns, healthy oils and fats are being included as healthy extras but I dont think they are extras - just you choose the healthy extra you want out of a larger choice

Just checked AI and this is the quote

swips, or Slimming World Individual Picks, are the new name for Syns and will replace them starting in January 2026. Swips are for foods that are less satiating and higher in energy density, such as alcohol, crisps, chocolate, and some everyday additions like butter or sauces. This change is intended to help members feel less guilt about enjoying these foods, with Swips being personalized to each individual's journey.

What they are:
Swips are the new term for foods that need to be counted on the Slimming World plan, a change from the old "Syns". The name "Swips" is short for "Slimming World's Individual Picks".
What they include:
Foods like alcohol, crisps, chocolate, and small amounts of butter or sauces are now considered Swips.
Why the change:
The change is designed to remove the negative association with the term "Syns" and make the plan feel more empowering and less judgmental. The goal is to help members enjoy their favorite foods without guilt, making it easier to stick to the plan.
When it takes effect:
This change will be implemented starting in January 2026.

Looking forward to hearing more

After a gain last week - due to not eating properly - I mean just not eating - I forced myself to sit and make a lunch today so hopefully I can keep it up for the week and I get a result this week. Im still at target but like so many of us, want to get as far under as I can before the Christmas break, Im off, Niece is visiting - lots of food - and snacks - floating around. Last time she stayed I gained 6lb which took me months to get off lol

LeftyLou · 07/12/2025 16:12

@lechatnoir thank you for the tip on gravy. That sounds lovely definitely going to try that.

I must admit I got a bit confused in this week's group. It was a small one with only about 5 people and our consultant was away so we had a stand in. The stand in we have had before and she's lovely. However, the bit I am confused about is you know how are the moment we get two HEXA and one HEXB I am sure she was saying you can mix it up and have one HEXA and two HEXB. I have never heard that before. Unless she was talking about the new rules coming in? Does anybody do this?

It was 1 off for me this week. So just 4.5 to go from this gain I had.

Hippywannabe · 07/12/2025 17:29

Hi, just realised I didn't update this week. 4 lbs off which made 18 1/2 lbs off in 4 weigh ins.

Wilma55 · 08/12/2025 17:57

I think you will be able to "pick and mix" from the Hex.

LeftyLou · 09/12/2025 17:24

@Hippywannabe that's amazing 😊

@Wilma55 I updated today too. I'm quite looking forward to the new changes.

suki1964 · 09/12/2025 20:03

@Hippywannabe , amazing results - well done you xx

Ive not managed to keep meals regular. Im eating maybe once a day - on plan but not eating enough

We ( as a family) are going through hell and half the family is in Oz with an 8 hours time difference means Im awake when I should be sleeping catching up , with the latest and being there for my Sister

My BIL is 58 and has been diagnosed with one of the rarest forms of cancer, so rare it was only identified a couple of years back - like the past decade, There is no survival, but they are putting him through a cycle of chemo - 3 hours on - 6 hours off - for ten days , then they will attempt a stem cell transplant - in the hope he gets two years . There have only been 3 cases in the whole of Western Australia in living memory

Its tough, really tough

So Im flipping between not eating - and raiding the chocolates in work

Anyone else struggling with the Christmas treats in the work place? I can easily do without them at home, but in work , it's a different matter . A bit of FOMO, a bit of well there they are to be eaten - but whilst at home I can easily say no, work is different

But still on a brighter note - quality street are bloody disgusting !!! WTH have they done to those? Felt like I had a mouthful of grease

LeftyLou · 09/12/2025 23:23

@suki1964 I am so sorry to hear you and your family are going through all that. 💐

Quality Street. Went into Home Bargains today. They were trying to sell them for over £8 and putting the RRP as £12. I don't think I've seen any where selling them for that much.

Anotherdayattheforum · 10/12/2025 11:04

Hi there. 1.5lb to target. But have been in, and, out of range for weeks. 🐢 Persistent is my focus. I suspect one week I will just stumble into target. 🤷🏻‍♀️
